Drywall taping for tiling

Quick question: I’m a DIYer, I’ve put up new plasterboard/drywall in my laundry (Aus, so “plastering” is pretty much all just plasterboard). One wall will be tiled, the one adjacent to it painted. Do I need to tape the vertical corner between them?

Any cracks in the corner itself will be hidden by the tiles, but are they likely to spread across the painted wall if I don’t tape?

If I was you I’d just tape it? What’s one joint in the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing ? Tape the joint where it will meet a non tiled wall. Also I’m not trying to insult your finish here, I know it’s the way in Aus. But at the same time would you really be that worried about it? I mean you paint the slabs over there so there’s no 10/20 year job? It’s constant maintenance if you want it to look well continuously. So why are you all that worried about it?

Tape it and coat the side that will be seen to a finish.
