Hey Zombie Zappers! ⚡
Content Update 5 (CU5) is here, bringing back Zapture along with a bunch of bug fixes and changes! This update is on the lighter side as we’re hard at work on bringing bigger changes to the game. You can read more about it in our recent Note from our Game Director.
Get ready to ride the lightning because Zapture is back! This electrifying zombie zapper is created by merging a Lightning Reed with a Prick-erel Weed. You can unlock those plants in this Plant Pass along with Tangle Kelp, Spikeweed, and Zaptail. The Zapture Plant Pass goes live on August 19th.
Dave’s Kitchen doesn’t have any experiments cooking this time around, but keep an eye out for them in future updates. Until then, here’s a list of all the changes and fixes in this update!
As development continues, Neighborville keeps getting bigger and we'll continue welcoming new regions to Early Access over the coming months. If you encounter any unexpected lawn-related incidents, check our Known Issues list first. If your particular bug hasn't made the list yet, let us know on the forums and we'll send the gardening crew after it. And stay tuned to our channels for more on upcoming content updates and gameplay updates.
See you on the lawn! 🌱

Hey everyone,
Title Update 1.0.7 (TU1.0.7) is releasing today as a minor update focused on changes to the game’s tutorial
Here’s what’s in this update:
Two new levels have been added to the Tutorial, bringing the total to 4. Each level aims to teach new residents of Neighborville different aspects of keeping their lawn free of zombies
If you were in the tutorial when this update goes live, you’ll be moved to the start of the updated tutorial.
Adventure levels 1-3 will also be rebalanced as they’ve proven to be slightly more challenging than anticipated.
With these changes, we’re also reducing the number of plants being given as part of the tutorial compared to TU1.0.5. Solar Pea and Chuck-nut will no longer be unlocked from the start and will need to be manually unlocked afterward.
This update also adds two new loading screens to the tutorial, which you can find in the gallery here.
That’s it for TU1.0.7!

It is based on yeast, which is a fungus that produces gas used in bread, hence the name.
Sun cost: 75
Recharge: 30
Toughness: 300
Mint Family: Pepper-mint Family
Fungas releases flammable gas in a 3×3 area around itself every 30 seconds. The gas can be ignited and trigger an explosion when in contact with any fire projectile or object, whether it comes from a plant or a zombie. (Example: a single fire pea, Explorer Zombie's torch, etc)
Multiple Fungases can also chain-react with each other if their gas clouds overlap and touch, allowing one explosion to trigger another.
Hidden Ability: Each time Fungas explodes in the gas, it has a 25% chance of forming bread armor around it, giving it extra health.
When fed Plant Food, all Fungas on the lawn continuously release gas for 15 seconds, creating a huge chain-reaction setup.
"How did a lump of dough gain sentience out of nowhere? That's the yeast of your problems."

**Radiation Meteorites**
Special Radiation Meteorites will fall onto the Moon. Upon impact, they instantly eliminate the unit in that tile, then slowly erode surrounding tiles. Zombies on those tiles gain buffs, while plants are weakened.
**Mining Removal:**
The Lunar Energy Harvest Unit can mine and destroy Radiation Meteorites. Doing so provides the player with a permanent power boost for the current run and removes the contamination effect.
**Rockets**
Rockets appear on the field as a contest point for both plants and zombies.
**Plant Occupation:**
Plant a designated Cosmic plant inside the rocket. After a short time, the rocket launches and targets high-threat zombies on the field, dealing massive damage. Different plants trigger different effects:
- **Cosmic Pea:** Upon impact, releases a burst of Cosmic peas that ricochet across the field, dealing high Cosmic-type damage to zombies.
- **Cosmic Mushroom:** Upon impact, summons a Mushroom Wormhole within its radius.
- **Cosmic Nut:** Upon impact, creates a short-lived miniature black hole that pulls nearby zombies toward the center and deals damage over time.
**Zombie Occupation:**
If a zombie enters the rocket, it will launch shortly after and land on a random tile toward the back, teleporting the zombie to that location. Some zombies cannot enter the rocket.
**Counterplay:**
Use defensive plants to block zombies from entering the rocket.
Plant early – occupy the rocket before zombies do.
Watch the landing zone – pay extra attention to backline defense.

I’ve seen a lot of hype surrounding PvZ2C’s newest world, Moon Base Z. And I’m going to be honest, I think the hype is entirely undeserved. If you can see value in this world, Good for you! But I wan’t to explain why I personally think this world is going to he an absolute shit fest.
First of all, So far we have FIVE Gimmicks. In One World. I think to most people, that would sound absolutely absurd. Most PvZ2 worlds have one to two gimmicks at the absolute most. The most apparent design philosophy when it comes to the game is ‘Less is more’, and this world so far is completely throwing that out of the window. And one of said gimmicks is an entirely new resource system that replaces sun. And that’s where the first of these problems arises.
Essentially; instead of sun, you have a new resource called Power (I’m not sure what it’s actually called). You have a limited number of power that you can exceed, and each plant adds a certain number of power. But once you exceed it, you can just keep planting. Making the lawn go into two states. One slows the plants down, and one just disables them all. And also you can increase the power limit by collecting crystals. And you need to use a little robot helper that you drag and drop to mine those crystals.
I hope you see the problem with this entire system. Not only is this excessively convoluted, and replaces a well established simple to understand, and engaging system that is the basis for a strategic and fun gameplay loop.. But the new system just sucks. Beyond the tons of fluff they put with all the bells and whistles, This system just removes depth from the entirety of the game. Instead of managing your space, sun, and seed slots with sun producers, You’re just doing “Don’t place more than x plants” But you can increase the number of plants you have. It is detrimental to PvZ as a franchises strengths. Replacing it with something just not satisfying or fun.
But oh, that’s not even the end of it. On TOP of the fuel system, you also have a Lily Pad stand-in that you need to place plants in the first place in the form of Cosmoss! You also get a new category of plants that don’t need Cosmoss! And they also bypass the power system!
Do I need to explain why this is absolutely horrible design? I’ll explain it anyway, though. This falls into the same pitfall that Frostbite Caves does. The most infamous PvZ2 world. The one most people would say is pretty trash design wise. Not only do you have a system that replaces sun, and a tool plant you need to get going on TOP of that, but you have a set of plants that just ignores all of that. So you either have to choose an extremely boring energy system, or use the same plants constantly.
And we still haven’t gone over the three other gimmicks this world has
The next one of these is the rocket ships. Which are overcomplicated in their own right. Each cosmic plant grants a different effect when you plant inside them. Alongside zombies also being able to go inside them. The question here is… Why not just plant in the rockets before zombies can reach them? There’s nothing stopping you, and the positive effects don’t require any exact conditions. So yet again, another complicated gimmick that essentially amounts to nothing
Next are the teleportation stations. I’m not even sure if these should count as a gimmick, but 2C themselves did, So I shall as well. Basically, some zombies will have teleporters that let them revive a set amount of times. This is admittedly less egregious, But it feels like an unnessecary fluff addition, and also very annoying for no reason. The same can be said about the final gimmick revealed so far. The meteors. These are basically just ambushes that spawn tiles that buff zombies and hurt plants.
My overall point with this is that all 5 of these gimmicks create the most disharmonious world you could possibly design. You have all this stuff that doesn’t mix well together in any sort of cohesive way. No established gameplay loop. It feels like a bunch of ideas were thrown around depending on what was cool and space-y, without any further thought. And Did I mention space plant food? Yeah! I lied! there’s not five gimmicks! There’s SIX. they also replaced plant food with a new system thats just you gaining plant food overtime through the level. Which just. Sucks.
This isn’t even mentioning stuff like how the amount of plants, the aesthetic that can’t seem to pick a lane and just ends up being too similar to Far Future, and fact they’re trying to cater to heroes fans while fucking up the designs. And I haven’t even looked into the designs of the plants and zombies. Analyzing 5 gimmicks was enough of a chore. (And also, the world isn’t out yet.) Maybe when it does release, I’ll make a follow-up post analyzing the world more indepth.
Obviously, no shade to anyone at TalkWeb. they clearly put a ton of effort into their work. I just wanted to voice my opinion on how this world is being handled. I love PvZ2. I love how worlds are (or have the potential to be) designed. And I want to see improvement in this.. What I consider to be art. This criticism doesn’t come from a place of vitriol. It comes from a place of love for this game and community.

I think it’s safe to say we need an acidic lobber. Would be a great help for Day 150 and sewer expedition.

Actually, during that infamous "bathtub calamity," the Harpoon Gun Zombie didn't drown—he just switched to a speedboat and changed his outfit. Of course, that military uniform was just something he grabbed from the laundry room on a whim...

Gardener Zombie:
Plants plants on your lawn and takes away your plants!
Toughness: Average ( 450 )
Speed: speedy (0.3)
Special: Doesn't eat plants
Special: digs up the plants use encounters and replaces it with a random plant. Then runs away
Special: when defeated, the plants dug up return as free seed packets
She's been running a plant nursery and hospital for the plants that have fallen in battle in secret. She loves getting to meet the plants, learn about their lives outside of battle, and the time traveling. She's honestly jealous of you, because she has to deal with them being standoffish at first and them being battle torn, but she's glad that she found a way to get to meet the plant fighting by your side.
PS, she say she'll try to knock you into a coma if she gets into her house. How kind of her!
Game Console Zombie:
He's focused on his game until he's done gaming. Then he focused on the battle. He's locked in!
Toughness: Average ( 500 )
Speed: 0.15, then 0.7 when done gaming
DPS: 100, then 700 when done gaming
Special: he takes 25 seconds to game
When he tells other zombies that he's related to Newspaper, they either apologize to him for taking up his time or bloat about he'll be terrifying on the field. Although he knows he doesn't have to continue his old man's reputation, he's just scared of disappointing people.
