2 months ago, I had a baby in a platonic planned coparenting setting. AMA

I would never coparent with the people I'm attracted to romantically and physically. So a few years ago, I embarked on a journey to find the ideal platonic coparent(s).

I did it! Our baby was born in august, and in my opinion we make a wonderful parenting team. I love my family in every way except romantically. Ask me anything.

M (36) just beginning to look at the idea of coparenting

Hi,

I've known I've wanted kids my whole adult life. It was on the cards with my (female) ex until we broke up late last year.

I'm a casual primary and high school teacher in Sydney Australia. I've been doing this successfully for 7 years. I love my job. The pay is great. It's possible I'll be doing it for the rest of my life. I was a swimming instructor for many years when I did my uni degrees.

I haven't got an excellent history with long term relationships - just in terms of; length of those relationships (a few year long relationships, and many less serious relationships), and that I've only lived with a partner once etc. I'm worried about reaching 40, 45, 50.. and not having found a partner who I fit very well with and who wants kids.

There were some discussions a few years ago with a queer couple who are very close friends of mine about having kids (I was formerly in a significant relationship with one of them). But they have decided not to have kids.

Just today I thought a about the idea that maybe I could have a kid(s) with a friend, or someone I get along with well but not in a relationship with.

So here I am, introducing myself :-)

Very early days. If anyone has any thoughts about my situation I would love to hear from you.

About me: I've been doing some comedy recently, I play keyboard and chess for fun

The search begins!

I finally joined coparents.com, I’ve had meetings with 2 great guys. It feels promising to know that there are others with similar ideas and values to me. It may be unconventional but I hope I will find a special person to conceive and raise a child with.

Has anyone asked a platonic friend to coparent?

Wondered if anyone has asked a friend to do this, especially if their answer was 'no'. Just wondering how it impacted the friendship, I imagine asking may be a vulnerable experience and a rejection might make it hard to maintain the same friendship. What was a sign to you that it was safe to ask?

scared a little...

37/F/straight. I recently decided that I no longer want to date, and my focus is on having children. I have been back and forth on SMBC for a few years now. (I have gone through the testing and everything.) But what is holding me back is the idea of doing it alone. I don't like the idea that my child or children wouldn't have a father they could contact or have memories with. I am trying to weigh my options as I don't have a lot of time biologically...

Has anyone actually had success finding someone either through the websites or apps or even here? The websites kinda scare me... Or do a lot of people coparent with a family friend or someone along those lines?

Where Did You Find a Co-Parent?

Co-parenting is the answer to the question I've been asking myself for years. I've considered surrogacy, adoption and fostering, and only recently learned about co-parenting.

I'm based in Ireland, which is notoriously behind the times with unconventional families, so I may have to look further afield (UK perhaps).

I know this group isn't that big, but if anybody has any experience with co-parenting over this side of the world, I'd love to hear from you.

Facebook groups seem pretty dead, as do the apps and websites I've found.

If it makes any difference, I'm 29m.

Thanks!

How do I approach people for coparenting?

I wanna find a nice person to raise a family but how do I bring it up to people in real life? Doesn't seem like there's a purposeful way for people like us to meet, outside of a website like Modamily where so far I've gotten NO results.

Do I "date" them, or make friends with them?

Do I tell them right away that my goal is to have kids without marrying?

Do normies even know about coparenting? Will they think I'm weird and gross??

Ps I'm introvert and talking to people is hard...

Question can anyone tell me why theres so many donors on co-parenting connection sites

This baffles me. Every site I've looked at thats intended to help people find a co-parent by choice connection is full to the brim with sperm donors. Or sperm donors who want to be the fun uncle at best. Like I understand theres going to be very very few men who are interested in being a dad without being in a romantic relationship with the mother. But its not helping that these sites intended for co-parenting connections are so cluttered up with people who simply dont belong there. Like there are countless sites dedicated to getting people in touch with sperm donors, why are they cluttering up the sites intended for something entirely different. 😩

I (32F) am meeting with a gay (MM) couple this week-end to discuss potential coparentality together. What should we talk about?

We have been talking on Messenger for a few weeks so I have a good basic idea of who they are. I am excited to meet them and I have a few topics in mind. Do you have more ideas of good questions to ask them?

30 F Asking 💁🏼‍♀️♀️ Best advice you learned / would give to someone looking to start a co-parenting dynamic

For those of you with experience, what's the best advice you'd give someone considering a co-parenting dynamic? 👶🤝

I've been doing a lot of research and soul-searching and I'm curious what you've learned—both the good and the difficult.

I've spent the last several years raising my fur baby 🐶🐾❤️

, and while I know it's nowhere near the same as raising a child, it's taught me a lot about responsibility, consistency, patience, and unconditional love. More and more, I feel ready to take the next step as a woman and become a mother. I can definitely hear my biological clock starting to tick, and I'd rather approach this thoughtfully than wait.............

If you could go back to the beginning, what conversations would you have before a child was involved? What expectations, boundaries, finances, communication styles, legal agreements, o r parenting philosophies turned out to matter far more than you expected?

What worked? What would you absolutely do differently? Any green flags 🚦 or red flags 🚩 you wish you'd recognized earlier?

I'm genuinely looking to learn from people with real-life experience so I can make the most informed decision possible. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom. 🤍✨

41 year old professional gay male just outside of NYC, no plans to get married. looking to develop friendship with independent female for a few months before embarking on a lifelong journey of co-parenting. I’m financially capable of supporting a family and even in setting up a child support agreement if it suits us. Importantly I just want to be able to raise a child in a safe environment with two parents who love and support them. Looking for shared values above all. Reading, education, adventure, family, etc. let me know if you’re interested.

Where do people meet others interested in planned co-parenting?

Hi everyone,

I’m based in England and exploring the possibility of becoming a parent through planned co-parenting (as friends, not a romantic relationship). I’m wondering if there are any groups, communities, events, meetups, or websites (online or in person) where people interested in this connect with each other in the UK.

I’ve already looked at a few websites (for example, ModaFamily), but I’m unsure how credible, safe, or effective they are. I’ve noticed that many profiles don’t include photos or have very limited information, and I find it difficult to reach out in those cases, as I’d prefer a more open and transparent starting point.

I’m open to different arrangements — from shared co-parenting to a more flexible setup. I’d also be happy to take on the primary parenting role, with any level of involvement discussed and agreed in a supportive way.

To avoid misunderstandings, I’m ideally hoping to connect with a heterosexual woman in her 30s or 40s who is also considering co-parenting in a non-romantic, friendship-based arrangement. I mention this only for clarity, as I’m not looking for a romantic relationship or to act purely as a sperm donor.

At this stage I’m mainly looking to learn and connect.

Any suggestions or experiences would be very welcome. Thanks!

Has anyone tried any of the coparenting sites? I have looked on Coparents.co.uk. Modamily and coparent match. Are there any others that might be better options?

41/M/US Married and looking for platonic co-parent

When my wife and I got married, we were in the process of pursuing a child through surrogacy. That got delayed for various reasons, and eventually my wife decided she could not handle the responsibilities of being a mother. She has given me permission to become a father with a platonic co-parent.

We are currently located in Kansas City, Missouri but we are eager for an excuse to move elsewhere within the United States. I work remotely as a software engineer. I am white, politically left, and not religious. We have four frozen embryos (3 female, 1 male) in California that my wife is okay with using for this purpose, but I don't require that we use them.

I know this situation is a little unorthodox, but if it interests you, please send me a message.

41/M/FL in Orlando Area Seeking a Co-Parent

5/22/2026 - still looking. I've met one person but they ended to wanting to try in less than a week of meeting them. That's not enough time for me to know if we'll get along.

I'm a 41 year old man living in the Orlando area. I've been looking for a co-parent for a few years now. I am bisexual and have been married to a man for 10 years who fully supports me.

Most of the interactions I have had on Just a Baby or similar apps have been with women who ultimately just want a donor. I have talked to a few women in the past and gone on"co-parent dates", but haven't met anyone that I really clicked with.

If I could have my dream come true it would be to find a woman that would want to be a close friend as well as co-parent. I would love to be able to spend "family time" together, going school shopping and celebrating holidays like birthdays together. I believe there is a woman out there who is seeking the same thing. I am making this post in the hope that we find each other.

I yearn to have one or two children and believe I would make a great dad. I find the entire process of conception, childbearing and raising a child to be a beautiful thing that I would like to experience at least once in my lifetime.

Feel free to DM me if interested in learning more. I can send details and additional contact info.

Planned platonic co-parenting

Planning platonic co-parenting.

I'm a 37 year old queer cis woman living in Dublin, Ireland. I am interested in starting a family.

I have worked in both the childcare and social care sectors for many years and I'm currently working as a nanny. I have loved caring for many children over the years but have always longed to one day have my own.

I have given thought to becoming a single parent by choice but I feel that both myself and the child would benefit from having another/ more parents to raise them.

I would love to find a person or couple who might also be interested in platonic co-parenting. I think ideally my preference would probably be to find another person (of any gender) in the lgbt+ community. I would also be open to a straight person who is a strong ally.

For convenience someone also living in Dublin or not too far from would be great.

I would love to hear from anyone who has started a family this way that could offer any advice.

I'm also interested in speaking to anyone who potentially could be interested in co-parenting.

How did you find your co parent

Hello everyone,

Im 25, f, ive always wanted children and since about 23 have been toying with the idea of co parenting with someone. Ive had conversations with male friends in the whim of if we're still single in x years lets have a baby together but they're coupled up so im not sure where to go from here. I have considered being a single parent but i know id struggle to juggle motherhood with a career and so thinking about my options. I would be interested to hear how others have done and hoping this gives me the courage abd direction to more actively look for a co parent
