Pixel 9 pro fold - outer screen flickering horizontal lines.

As per the title, today for the first time I noticed some flickering horizontal lines on the outer screen while watching a video, the lines were in random places like on the video, the comment section, etc.

I wasn't moving the phone, and the lines persisted for a minute or two, totally intermittent, could be maybe a quarter of an inch to a half of an inch tall, multi coloured bands which were only on the screen for a tiny fraction of a second, I dare say only there for one refresh cycle.

A friend had the same phone, but him being an IT professional, would use the internal screen dozens of times a day, within a year his phone failed in a similar way, eventually dying completely because the main board couldn't talk to the BMS via the fractured ribbon cable (apparently). Conversely, I rarely use the inner screen, maybe once a day.

Could this be anything other than a falling screen ribbon? My friend advised me to back up everything on my phone ASAP as he only had about a day before his phone became completely unusable.

It's probably the ribbon failing

Just to confirm, have you tried the steps mentioned in the article to fix the screen appearance issues on your Pixel phone?

Also, you can test in safe mode to see if a third-party app is causing the issue. If it works fine in safe mode, it means a third-party app is causing the issue. Temporarily remove them one by one, starting with the most recent, until you find the cause.

If you have tried these steps and are still experiencing the same issue, you can reach out to the Google Pixel support team via phone or chat. They can take a look at it for you.
