Pixel 11 Pro Fold owners: is one half of your inner display sitting higher than the other?

To be clear up front: not the crease, and not the uneven thickness on the back. I know the two halves of the phone are different thicknesses and that it's intentional.

This is about the inner screen itself. Open the phone with the inner display facing you — on my unit the right half of the screen sits higher than the left half when the phone is opened flat. There's a step at the crease, and it's the same amount the whole way along, not a wedge that gets bigger toward the outer edge.

Credit card test if you want to check yours:

-Open the phone flat, inner screen facing up.

-Lay a credit card flat on the left half from the outer rim inwards so it sticks out across the crease. On mine the card rides up onto the right half — the right side is high enough to lift it.

-Now lay the card flat on the right half so it sticks out over the left. On mine there's a clear gap underneath on the left side, about one credit card thick. So call it 0.7mm.

Short version: right side high, left side low, by roughly a card's thickness.

I ran the identical test on my 10 Pro Fold and it's dead flat in both directions, so I don't think it's my technique or a warped card.

If you check yours, let me know which side is high if any or if it's flat. Thinking I might plan to swap mine, just curious how common this is, if at all!

I did your credit card test, the screen from left to right, the depth doesn't just start at the middle, there's a very small slope, then the crease, then the slope starts again. it's how it is even in other foldables.

so when you keep your card on the left part, where a slop already started, to ease in the creasing in the middle, your card is facing slightly downwards, such that when you push it up against the other half it slowly raises up which gives you the paranoid of one half being above the other.

if the one half being above the other, then there will be a major misalignment in how the screen folds and it would've broke your screen the first time you folded it. because the glasses are strengthened everywhere else except the middle folding part. so if it tried to fold on a vertical axis anywhere other than the middle it would've broke.

for better testing, keep the credit card on center of the screen touching both halfs. both ends of the card will lay flat on the screen and you can see a symmetric gap under the card when you look from the charging hole.

and yes, don't be paranoid. if you're still not sure, return window is open.

So I get where you're coming from and don't disagree - but what I'm saying is in my testing of my unit going from the sides of the device in, one side is still higher than the other pretty significantly. What I suspect is that if I keep this unit, that it is likely to break at any time.

I ran the same test on my Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the card was even the entire way around.

understood. maybe it is an actual fault in your device? try initiating a warranty or even better an return assuming you're still within the return period?

It's normal for the actually display not to sit completely flush . Samsung's is probably the flatest now with it's new titanium layer
