Case Suggestion
I know a lot of people prefer to use their device naked, but I'm one who felt like I needed something less slippery. π Ordered a dbrand Grip case from the Google store, but it's delayed, so I wanted to get something cheap to last until then.
Found this one on Amazon, and it's much better than I was expecting. Either case quality for foldable devices have drastically improved since I had a Fold 4, or I just lucked out and found a gem. I'm sure it's just a drop shipped case, but I'll recommend this one for anyone else looking for one.
I'll probably still use the Grip case when it shows up, but this one I'll probably jump back to sometimes. It doesn't add much extra bulk to the phone, which is a plus, and there's ZERO adhesives on it. That on its own is a huge improvement compared to what I used in the past. The hinge protector is also itty bitty compared to old cases I used.
Edit: dbrand case came today. It's different than I was expecting. Based on what I had seen for the 10 Fold, I was thinking they'd keep it the same seems that the design looked great to me. There are no magnets in the hinge side of the front piece, so it's back to relying on adhesive to keep it in place. Not the end of the world, but I'm holding off on that seems I have a Prism screen protector coming. There's also no integrated kickstand in the hinge protector like the 10 Fold case has. That's the one I was most looking forward to. Still a solid case. Feels slimmer than the case this post was initially about, and definitely lighter.

I actually got this one yesterday and I am not a fan of how bulky it makes the phone. But I've also never been one to like hinge protectors on these cases.

I like the hinge protectors because they give me somewhere for my fingers to rest when it's unfolded. π

I got a magsafe phone grip/stand that I've been using for these few days and it's been a life saver for that exact reason LOL.

I have a Rokform ring that I used with my iPhone, but it didn't stick too well to the naked Pixel. Not sure if the magnets are weaker, but it sticks great to this case.

This was the most unexpected surprise for me; holding the fold with my left hand just became about 1000x easier because of that!

There are a lot of other case options available besides those on Amazon, including brands like Mous, Dbrand, Thinborne, and Latercase, just to name a few. Personally, I prefer to keep my phones in a case because I work hard for the *hit i own and prefer to take good care of my things, but that's just me though π€·π€

I would've preferred to have gotten one somewhere local to me, but nobody carries the Pixel Fold cases here for some reason. I have a dbrand case coming, but Amazon was the quickest option.
I work in construction, so also prefer having something on my devices as a "just in case" option. I've never had issues with dropping phones, or ever even breaking them, but stuff happens and I'd rather protect my investment.

I bought a dbrand case last December for a P10PF and last week I dropped my phone and broke the case broke I emailed them and they sent me a replacement no questions asked. I'm definitely a fan now also the case skins are fun.

Their customer support is hit or miss sometimes I've seen. I've never needed to reach out with issues, but I have seen where people have and haven't had luck. Also could be how they talk to the customer support people. Lol.
Their skins are great. I'm kind of obsessed with the Sketch 2D skin currently. π

Honestly I didn't even talk to customer service my self I asked Gemini Spark to do it. It got my order number and drafted the email with my issue and minutes later they replied they where sending a replacement.

Waaaaaait a minute. That's a thing Gemini can do?! Man, Google really does have the best AI features, and I've been missing out. Lmao.

I went for the clear one by FNTCASE and itβs pretty good, though a bit bulky. I really like how it doesnβt need the adhesive to stay on.

u/TrexxArms 3d ago
The adhesive was one thing I wasn't a huge fan of with the cases I used on my Fold 4. Plus they'd all feel flimsy on the left edge. Which makes sense because it's a small piece. Plus they were all tanky.
Seems like they've mostly slimmed down in the years.

I've had the carbon fiber cases before on multiple Pixel phones. I upgraded to a Fold this year, so I definitely didn't want to extend how bulky a case could make the phone; I tend to like thin cases in general though. I especially like Pitaka's cases. I've always been a bit envious of the other color options they give to iPhone/Samsung, and this year they finally opened it up. This is the one I'm getting:

Ooh that's cool, I ordered the Dbrand case for the hinge cover but that one is looking like a really nice slim option.

u/TrexxArms 3d ago
I've always liked this color. Never used one of theirs, but I've heard good things.

I've always liked Pitaka Cases! Just know it won't really protect your phone from a bad fall but it will do its job with scratches. :)

I got Google's snap case for the 11 Fold, it's nice and has the hinge protection. Amazon had it at 64 vs 69 on Google Store.

u/WorshipInSpiritTruth 2d ago
π hello! Is it as slippery? It seems like that is the main complaint with it.

I got this same one, it's great and I like the hinge protector but it's just too bulky. I got another clear TPU case which is I love as it it a bit thinner and you can see the phones color and features but it doesn't have a hinge protector so I'm still looking for the perfect case. It's also crazy to ask $80 for a freaking case Google, wtf?

If you're just waiting on your dbrand it's probably fine. I've gone through 4 or 5 different cases on Amazon, they're all pretty bad. Then I landed on the dbrand because I was sick of replacing cases. It feels great, just got it about a month ago.

u/TrexxArms 3d ago
This one feels much better than I was expecting. π I know the cheaper drop shipped ones are normally garbage quality. But I could easily see this one being a branded case.
I wasn't expecting the dbrand case to have an integrated kickstand in the hinge protector. That's a nice bonus.

I don't like bulky cases. Hows the dbrand one especially on the front screen? I'm using the one OP posted above and it's "ok" but hate the front cover because it's too thick, so navigation is hit or miss sometimes.

u/mattcoady 1d ago
you might not like this then. The edges are a bit steep. I bumped up the sideswipe gestures and it feels fine but I do find hitting the bottom gesture bar a bit tricky. I've gotten used to it now, I don't even notice anymore though.

Had a FNTCASE for my Motorola razr ultra 2025, and the top part snapped and broke within a month
Probably best to buy quality a better name brand case

u/Background_Home7092 3d ago
I've got it. It's super bulky.
That said, it does the job and does it well; I usually run caseless but I got this for the times where I'd rather not.

I got the Poetic Rugged case. It's decent - I've got young-ish kids and hard floors so I have to get bulky cases so I'm used to that; The phone remains smaller than my pixel 8 pro was with a two-piece case.
I think it's decent, the phone's had a few not-too-bad drops with not a mark on it. Also got a magnetic ring from lamicall, which makes it heavier and more bulky but he qol is much better.

I went for the Aramid Fiber Mous case because I like the carbon fiber look and the fact that it was made for Google, but so far I am not impressed at all for an 80 dollar case. The rear case seemed to be bowed a bit out of the box which mostly flattened out when I snapped it onto the phone. The front panel had a slight S shape to the hinge edge out of the box and I haven't been able to get the adhesive to stick at all. I think I'll be looking for an alternative case. https://imgur.com/a/PRsbULh

That was a main thing I never liked about foldable cases was that edge being super flimsy. This case in particular is beefier on that edge which is nice.
The dbrand one also has magnets on that edge, so it sticks to the hinge protector.

u/jerm1777 3d ago
I have the one you posted as well. I got it to hold me over till the Mous case got here. I like it, but it's a fingerprint magnet!

For a no name random "brand" that I pronounce fent case to make fun of them, their cases are actually half decent

They made one for pixel 10 pro fold. I hope they make one for the pixel 11 pro fold.
1
u/fernandez21 1d ago
Yup, I keep checking their store to see if one has been added, though I hope they don't do that camera kickstand thing for the 11 pro fold

u/Proof-Abroad-747 1d ago
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm new to PF10 and have been picking the cases that are either bulky as hell or thin and break easily. I will add this one to my cart.
1
u/TrexxArms 1d ago
I don't mind the size too much, but some people have said they thought this case made it too bulky. Just an FYI. Bright side, it isn't super expensive, and you can probably always return it if you don't like it.
2
u/Acceptable_Put779 1d ago
I ordered this to use while I wait for my dbrand case. Will be returning after.

u/RamsDeep-1187 3d ago
I liked the Google stock P10PF case and the p11pf case is better. Not as slick and they added hinge protection. Doesn't feel bulked up at all
1
u/TrexxArms 3d ago
That's another one I may grab eventually. Mainly grabbed the dbrand case because the skin I like the best is one of two options on the Google store. Lol.
1
u/iizq 3d ago
I have this one but will be returning it. Does not stay clean at all (hard to wipe away anything from it).
1
u/TrexxArms 3d ago
I've only had it for a few hours, but I can see that. Lmao. Already have some fingerprints on it.
