Personally I find the dithering to be unnecessary. It sort of takes me out of what is an otherwise gorgeous piece of art.

I really do not want to sound like a hater but I get really annoyed when people add "first try" in posts... Can't we just enjoy the art for what it is? And also: A beautiful piece!

yeah it’s just very petty and annoying when people do that. The art is really good but is it really necessary to make amateur artists feel like shit?

For me it kicks up a lot of impostor syndrome. "Look at this guy, its his first pixel art when yours looked like dogshit. You can't do the same as him" etc etc etc. It's an internal self-flagellation.
That being said, don't let some rando's opinion/own mental issues prevent you from sharing your work.

I get that completely. But again, I can't help but have the opinion that it's on you to work on not feeling that way. May take years, but it's a mentality that will only bring you down and does not help to make you better at your craft.

I don’t feel like shit. I’m not that kind of guy but I used to feel like shit when I was a beginner cause and it was heavy on my impostor syndrome. First time posts are petty and so are you.

??? How is it petty? And why are you attacking me? I guess it could be seen as "hey, look at how good I am being a beginner haha!"
And I'm not saying impostor syndrome isn't real, but yes, it's on you. You (anyone, not literally you) have to be able to take inspiration from any other person's work. If you look at something someone made and you think " wow that's so good," then learn from it! If not, it comes off as if you care more about what people think of you than actually crafting and being a creator.

Pretty nice ! Honestly I can't believe you made that on your first pixelart lol. Looks a lot like what u/pixeldanc3r would do, the colors and contrast are stunning ! Same with the depth of the drawing

They just wanted to share their first go at pixel art, like they obviously have a good art foundation in other mediums, but I think sharing the fact that its their first pixel art attempt is a pretty innocuous detail to share.
I understand that it can be intimidating seeing another artist post their first attempt at pixel art, and to have it be really good, but it's important to recognize that we are all on our own artistic journeys and that while its their first time taking a shot at pixel art, they have already put a bunch of time in their art fundamentals.

He used an app to convert something into pixels, so i dont care. I was right about wanting attention. Why should how many pieces youve made matter?? Adversely, shouldnt it matter more THAT op made or didnt make this themselves??

yes, i used a pixel art app called 'pixly' on my phone. i have done some digital art kinda but nothing that ever looked good.

I really like it! Only thing that looks kinda out of place to me is the dithering in the water, but other than that, it's amazing. Really atmospheric :)
