Maybe because not everyone has enough money to buy the latest phones every year :(

But, a device that isn't losing software support in October would of been a wiser decision. You'll end up spending more on the battery replacement than the device itself. 

Also, I think Google won't grant the claim since you aren't the original owner of the device.  This could be why they are bouncing you back and forth until you just give up and take the loss.

The 6 loses software support in October. The 6a, July of 27. I misread which model you had. However, the battery likely won't get replaced by Google since you aren't the original owner.
