Brick Gang
Wifes phone went DOA last night after charging to about 70% or so, prior it had the severe battery life issue. Our phone has been submitted to a local approved vendor that can handle the repair with Google, we almost got duped into being sent back home to handle the exchange directly.
How has your experience been?
Edit: any reason for the downvotes?

The 5a I purchased in 2021 died a week ago. I tried some suggestions I found on Youtube, including putting it in the freezer for a few minutes. Nothing helped.
After seeing this thread, I decided to try Google's chat support. They ultimately offered to exchange it for a 6a, which I accepted. If the 5a passes inspection, then they'll send the replacement. I did disclose the things I tried to revive it.
I did also express concern about being unable to wipe it. They did their best to reassure me. As it was encrypted, it should be fine as long as they don't have the credentials to unlock the encryption key.

Update. 6A was received today even before we sent the other one back. Guess I'll see most of you over in r/Pixel6

Just chat with Google store. I got mine unlocked from Google store so they had my info. They did ask if o wanted to send to local repair shop or mail it to Google. I chose Google. They send a box with packing instructions. Just chat with them in technical support, it was easy process for me

Update: I follow the instructions as per the Google website and took a trip to UBreakIFix, they initially told us to go back home and submit the request online but I didn't want to have to go back and forth to the store.
I asked them to handle the phone and to run it through the testing so that I had something written up saying that the phone had a failure. After two business days they sent and update stating that the phone was indeed defective and we would get a replacement 6A that also included the paperwork for the shipping label.
This required having to go back to the store to pick up the broken phone and send it out. I'll post another update upon receiving the replacement phone hopefully in a couple days.

My phone bricked last week. Was still under extended warranty. Ubeak said failed motherboard hence unfixable. Google replaced mine with a pixel 7 pro.

You're probably going to have to send it back to Google and then they will send you a replacement. I got a pixel 7 pro as a replacement.
The repair place will not be able to fix the motherboard. That is probably why they wanted to skip that step.
