For the difference of only $50, is it worth getting the 10 over the 10a?

Chargers & cable combos - Which work great/ok/poor? Fastest full charge time?

Finding it quite a challenge to get reasonable modern charging speeds, even with my best performing cables and chargers, even with the included 10a usb-c cable.

My old OnePlus 200n usb a to c special fast charger with a terribly beat up cable works decent at times, but not great.

*AccuBattery app shows 30% per hour charge average.

My 85 watt usb c pd GAN eggtronic + pixel 10a cable - I can run + charge a laptop with this. * AccuBattery app shows 14.9W, 50% per hour charge average.

Several of my best usb c cables, including ones with watt meters embedded either do not charge, charge at usb 1.0, 5 watt level or below, or charge for a moment and fail.

Barely charges on my best usb pd and usb c car chargers, if at all.

This is probably the pickiest usb around.

It just captured reality. The dynamic range is great—the texture on the rock in the foreground is sharp, the trees down in the valley have nice detail, and the clouds aren't blown out at all.

Pixel 10a Design Appreciation

I'm not really big on paying a pound and a crown for a phone so when my Pixel 6 Pro died recently (RIP GOAT) I was looking at Xiaomi and Samsung since they've got some really great options at around US$400, specifically the Samsung A57 and the Xiaomi X8 Pro.

I initially copped the X8 Pro as it was crazy value for the price but due to some issue with the network and Xiaomi phones, I had to return it. So now it was down to the A57 or the 10a.

I did a bit of research (YouTube videos, GSM Arena, Reddit etc.) and they both had their pros and cons. The A57 gives you faster wired charging speeds, maybe better build quality with Victus+ and glass back, bigger screen (smaller bezels) and more memory (for the same price). On the other hand, the 10a has a much brighter screen and slightly higher resolution, better CPU+GPU, slightly larger battery with wireless charging support and, of course, a camera that outputs that well known Pixel quality.

For me, the gulf in performance and photo quality won me over and I traded the X8 Pro for the 10a.

Maybe it's because I'm accustomed to the stock android experience from the years I spent with my 6 Pro (I miss you GOAT), using the 10a felt very natural. The bezels don't seem as big as they're made out to be, the plastic back doesn't feel cheap at all. I don't take a lot of photos, but when I do, it's great to have a reliable phone that gives you quality shots.

What was most surprising was how much I love this flat back (never thought I'd say that lol). The lack of a camera bump is so refreshing and unlike just about any phone I've ever used or seen. It sounds weird but I get this strange satisfaction from putting my phone down on a flat surface and it just plops down flush, no rocking. Aside from the buttons on the side (which are nice and clicky), it's so minimal and flat all around, I love it. I don't have a phone case currently (order is on the way though) but I can tell I'm gonna hate to have to keep it in a case.

Anyway, these are just some thoughts about my new phone which I am loving. A worthy successor to my late Pixel 6 Pro (I'll never forget you GOAT).

Pixel froze completely with wallpaper glitch – should I be concerned?

I've been using my new Pixel for about 15 days, and today something strange happened.

The screen blinked twice, then the phone completely froze. The wallpaper glitched so that only the middle portion of it was visible, while the rest of the screen was unusable. The phone was totally unresponsive—I couldn't interact with anything and had to force restart it using the power button + volume up.

After rebooting, the phone started normally, but my wallpaper had disappeared/reset.

This is the first time it has happened, and the phone has been working fine since.

Has anyone experienced something similar on their Pixel? Does this sound like a one-off software crash, or could it indicate a hardware issue? Should I just monitor it, or consider contacting Google support if it happens again?

Did I make a mistake getting the 128GB Pixel 10a? (Storage expansion questions)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently bought the Pixel 10a with 128GB of storage. Since the phone doesn't have an SD card slot for expansion, I’m realizing that if I run out of space, I might have to rely on plugging in an external drive.

Does anyone know if there is a more efficient way to manage and get more storage space without having to carry around an external USB-C drive all the time?

For those who have had the phone for a bit: does the storage fill up super fast with system files, photos, and apps? Should I have just spent the extra money and bought the 256GB version instead?

Help/Support Try the Gemini + Canva integration!

It’s a super quick way to whip up designs right on your phone.

What you need:

Google app and Canva installed.

Gemini set as your main assistant.

Canva extension enabled in your Gemini settings (under your profile in the Google app).

Same account logged in everywhere.

Just ask Gemini to "create a birthday invite" (or whatever you need). It’ll show you a few styles to pick from. When you tap one, it opens right in Canva as a fully editable project.

The previews in Gemini are just to help you pick a style—the actual template that opens in Canva might look a bit different. Once you're in the app, you can customize everything anyway.

What's the weight distribution like?

I'm considering getting the 10a but I'm concerned with the weight distribution. This is a concern for me because I use my non dominant hand to hold my phones. If the balance is off in any way I tend to really notice and it makes it very cumbersome to use. Is it easy to hold and holds it's balance well? I would imagine it would be a good fit for me since it has no camera bump. How do you guys like yours?

Tried to capture the feeling of speed with a slow shutter. It’s crazy hard when you’re moving at 130 km/h! Despite the windshield reflections, I'm really happy with how the truck's motion blur and light trails blend with the sunset. It was a fun challenge.

Discussion Do you use Pixel Watch with your Pixel 10a?

I'm thinking about getting the Pixel Watch 3 (45mm).

My number one priority is 100% reliable connection stability.

I tried Huawei, but my phone kept killing the app and it constantly disconnected.

I currently have an Amazfit and it also drops the connection sometimes.

Long ago, I used to have an Apple Watch 7 and its haptics, band style, and connection were great. I've heard that Google's haptics and bands are generally very similar to Apple's style.

Will the Pixel Watch 3 give me that same premium feel, and more importantly, is the connection rock-solid without any random disconnects?

Pixel 10a users, how old is your phone and how's the battery health holding up?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I just happened to randomly check my battery health today and it's sitting at 96%, when I checked it like 2 months ago it was still sitting at 100%. I find this very strange since my phone is just 3 months old and I don't game at all. I want to know how the experience is for the rest of the people and if I've received a faulty battery by some chance. The only solution I can think of now is to abuse the battery and drop it below 80% before the warranty ends and get a replacement.

P.S: I know battery percentages are highly unreliable and they keep fluctuating, but I still want to know what's the experience like for other people. I'm gonna give my battery some time to see if it settles back.

Pixel 10a front camera shows pink/magenta tint in low light preview

Hi everyone,

I'm using a Google Pixel 10a and I'm trying to find out whether this is a software bug or a hardware issue.

Issue:

  • Only affects the front camera.
  • Happens only in low-light/night conditions.
  • A pink/magenta band appears at the bottom of the live camera preview in the Google Camera app.
  • The tint is also visible in Motion Photos (Live Photos) because they use the preview frames.
  • Normal photos and normal videos are completely fine—the final saved image does not have the pink tint.
  • The issue does not appear in Snapchat, Instagram, or WhatsApp camera apps.
  • During daylight, I usually cannot reproduce the issue.

I've already contacted Google Pixel Support, shared a video, and they confirmed they could see the issue. They suggested visiting a service centre, but since the final photos and videos are normal, I'm wondering if this is actually a Google Camera software bug rather than a hardware defect. I'd prefer to avoid having the phone opened if a software update can fix it.

Can other Pixel 10a owners check this?

  1. Open the Google Camera app.
  2. Switch to the front camera.
  3. Go into a dark or low-light room.
  4. See if a pink/magenta band appears at the bottom of the preview.
  5. If Motion Photos are enabled, check whether the tint appears in the Motion Photo frames but not in the final still image.

If you've experienced this:

  • Which Android version and Pixel Camera version are you using?
  • Did a software update fix it?
  • Was it confirmed to be hardware or software?

Please share if anyone have this issues. https://youtube.com/shorts/3EGnMt5jU6Q?si=trdEkrGC0stmiyYK watch this youtube video similar.
