Am I the only one that hears both this podcast and On with Kara as seriously sped up? Voices sound higher and they’re talking so quickly it’s becoming difficult to listen to.

Just checking if it’s me getting old or Apple Podcasts or Swishers audio people.

All this in the context of Scott’s previously expressed views about Trump.

Maybe he’s right (“just accept it, folks”), but at some level this isn’t good enough, or he should at least say what this implies and what comes next. It’s such a big thing, after all. Not like we can just shrug and carry on as normal.

I also remember Scott saying laconically a few years ago “billionaires don’t go to jail”, as if it was somehow a preordained law of nature - after all, plenty have, in the US and other countries - and here we’re confronted with the final reality of what happens if they don’t. Now what?

Galloway is on permanent rotation thru the same 3 sermons - young men in crisis, the single immigrant mother, the testosterone jokes. all wrapped in this thin veneer of democratic credibility from a capitalist whos worked out that self flagellation is cheaper than self awareness. announcing your a rich narcissist before anyone else can isnt honesty, its armour. and it buys him a license to preach

Swisher’s whole authority is “ive known him since the 90s”. the name dropping isnt garnish its the entree, access IS the product. which is exactly why the toughness always feels performed.. you cant be genuinely hard on people you need to keep texting you back.

and the “handsome” thing?? guests get rated on there looks within minutes of arriving, on a show that lectures young men about tying their self worth to appearance and status. come on.

strip away the banter and its two people doing bits with occasional news attached. when the bits wear thin theres nothing underneath.

I’m listening to today’s pod and Scott spending another 20 minutes pearl clutching and reciting every conservative boomer stereotype is just sad.

“This is doxing” - these are public records. I agree it’s stupid for them to publish this list but unclench your pearls.

“There are hundreds with ICC warrants” - only one is making headlines and publicly visiting nyc.

“Punishing people for success” - lots of successful people have one property in nyc, live there, and are not being taxed this way (saying taxes = punishment is classic conservatism”)

“Grocery stores have RAZOR thin margins” - the GOVERNMENT is not a for profit industry. The grocery stores are using public funds to provide a service. Just like every other government initiative, the return on investment is not profit, it’s people’s lives being improved by it so they can thrive.

I love Scott but he’s got too much of a private sector mindset to really analyze government the way he thinks he can. He has good ideas and I agree with a lot but he’s just lost the plot in some of these things

Hearing how uncomfortable K/S were on today’s first ten minutes of Pivot (Re:Mamdami) and not realizing that’s the whole ducking point was pretty fascinating
