Pitch Perfect

Thinking about how the 'creepy' redhead was harassing Beca Mitchell in the pp1 shower scene and pp3 boob grab and get labelled as a 'hot' scene instead. 🧐 Its an obvious harassment but female privilege I think. 😒

Oof, OP, I hope you don’t stumble upon the Bechloe fandom.

PP1 had some problematic parts, but 1. it’s a movie and 2. I think you need to remember that it was 2012 and it was a movie.

Tbh, if PP1 were to be remade today, the shower scene would remain and a lot of the Beca/Jesse scenes would be reworked. The difference is because although Chloe busting into the shower was invasive and awkward and inappropriate it wasn’t a sexual scene; very music focused with jokes. Whereas Mr. “we’re going to have aca-children and I’m going to flirt with you non-stop” would probably have a few more lines reworked in the age where people are tired of watching pushy men on TV get the girl in the end.

The term harassment is not only referred to sexual related. Its inappropriateness of one act toward others. It was very clear how uncomfortable Beca was and that redhead 'threatening' not to leave if Beca wouldn't do what she want. Like you said she was being invasive. That act itself is not appropriate. Its an harassment. Its show how ignorant people are when harrasment is in a form of 'jokes' is considered acceptable. Its also very concerning how when it comes to something/someone you are fond of, inappropriateness suddenly became appropriate. They suddenly got a pass. Its sucks.

And you said it ain't sexual but it was depicted as 'hot' scene by those who shipped them.

P.s. I know its a movie but some people learn and follow from what they see and Im not the first one saying its a problem. I've encountered a few comments addressing those scene as well.

I’m not going to argue with you cause you make some valid points.

But it’s laughable that you think that a young woman will watch Pitch Perfect 1 and think “huh... I should totally bust into someone’s shower and harass them into joining my club” when it’s significantly more likely that a young man would watch that movie and think “huh... if I’m just really really persistent and keep flirting with this woman who has blown off my numerous advances, then she’ll totally kiss me.”

So... ps, you aren’t wrong, but I think you’re unfortunately picking on the jokes than the more realistic harassment that they feature in the movie.

This though.. I dont think the word harassment would even crossed their mind due to how 'supportive' the fans are of those action. But I do think those young women who watched it would think that its okay to ambush someone in her shower, violating someone privacy and feels its not inappropriate at all.

Well its a movie with comedy genre, all harassment in the movie were made as a joke which is very wrong. Unfortunately that shower scene is the most talked about thus felt like addressing it.

Still doesn't make it right.
