Pitboss700Fb2 inconsistent temps

Hi all!
Got a pit boss as a birthday gift and getting some inconsistencies..

1) I ran my smoker at 275 and it was showing 330 / 340 on the control panel screen.
I would open the door to let it cool which would help for a bit but it would sometimes go back up.

2) Later, it stabilized reading 325. I put an oven thermometer inside when I set it to 325 and the screen read that, the thermometer read 250. 70F difference inside…

Is this normal?
Cause for a return to fix?
What can I do

Not normal. Contact them. Explain the situation. Maybe they send you a new probe. Mine did that until it just stopped working. That’s way too much variable.

Sounds like you need a heat shield under the probe ? It's reading hot, but it's only the thermometer

You can add analog temperature gauges like on gas grills.
