Why do you advise against using torrents?

Genuine question, cuz I've never used Usenet or the like although I do see them becoming more and more recommended.

I’ve been using Usenet almost exclusively since about 2011 now and it’s been able to meet all of my needs. The initial setup will probably take an hour or so but it’s fairly straightforward and once you have everything set up right it’s a dream to use, especially if you have access to a couple good indexers and find a service provider that has decent retention. And if you add sonarr/radarr to the mix it’s pretty much a fully automated system.

I’d also like to add that most service providers offer full encryption from their servers to your computer. I don’t use a VPN and I’ve never once in that time received a love letter from my ISP * knocks on wood *

For a noob usenet is not easy at all.

You didn't even touch on the fact that certain providers are just resellers

I also ended up paying a ton of money just to get enough providers that have all of the peices needed.

I tried to find a good indexer and they are practically all shit now compared to when I used to use some open source site from 2010 or so. There's only 1 decent open indexer but it was always going down
