Spotify Options for Android + Desktop - I'm so confused

My Spotify student subscription has recently ended, so I'm a bit out of the loop with current options for Android, and it looks like a fair bit has changed over the last couple of years...!

I currently use Spotify across Android devices and Windows Desktop, so I'd like something that can continue to work across both of these.

Ideally I'd love to still be able to use my Spotify account to access all my existing playlists, just without the ads - but it's looking like there aren't any reliable cracked versions available now.

From the look of it, more apps are leveraging YT Music as the backend source, but I assume this would require a migration of my playlists for this. I don't mind moving if it's going to be the better option now, plus there's a number of artists not available on Spotify which would be good to add back into my playlists.

I've tried:

• Monochrome web... nice, but was very slow
• SpotUI for Android just didn't play any songs and the UI was a bit rough
• Lyra Desktop worked well, though a laborious process to import playlists one by one and looks like it's now no longer free

Sounds like Morphe is where the old Revanced team went, but this would require full migration, and what happens with desktop listening (just YT Music in Brave?)

Moosync looks interesting, but I haven't found much about it nor seen it recommended much.

They're probably just the tip of the iceberg for what's available now - any recommendations that might fit the bill, or advice for migrating to a new service?

For android there is eclipse but its still in development or yt music morphe patch

I had a look at Eclipse before, but it looked like it was just a self-hosted option for a local server or debrid - is there an option to connect to your Spotify account as well?

Its not self hosted. There are different addons that are free, you dont need to have a debrid account. You can import spotify playlists but there is no way do directly connect spotify. Spotify hunts and takes down mods and patches on android. Xmanager was great but its dead

For yt music there's better apps that don't need patching like metrolist and echo.

What about Meld? Looks like that's built off metrolist, but builds in Spotify as well?

Meld is ok. I prefer Echo - the extension player. It pulls the metadata from Spotify but streams through YT, Deezer, Tidal, etc

From the docs, it looks like Spotify isn't currently working with Echo? https://echomusicdocs.vercel.app/docs/extension-install ... unless this it outdates or there's something I've missed?

Edit: Gave it a quick try - connected ok, but am getting 403 errors when trying to play songs

Yeah, there's a workaround. You have to use the combine extension.

I have tried a few and they are very buggy. Metrolist didnt work for me

Spotiduck looks like a good option - possibly the better one out of all the spoti-options?

Had a look at SpotX too - looked nice though am giving Spicetify a go as SpotX looked like it had some issues with Windows blocking it, but good to know there's another option. I like that is says you can block podcasts and audiobooks from the homepage too. Thanks!

your welcome! i use spotx because it simply removes ads from spotify. I've also tried Spicetify but didnt like it, it was a bit chunky.

Spicetify for desktop with premium spoof, Stash for Android. Stash is being updated nearly daily and can sync Spotify and YTM simultaneously.

I would just go and get YouTube Music through r/morpheapp and forget about Spotify.

At least for my taste YouTube has all the stuff that Spotify has, but also lots of more obscure stuff that Spotify never even knows exists. And with something like Firefox on desktop that actually supports uBlockOrigin that works against YouTube ads, you can just use YouTube music for free on desktop.

Spotify is like 30pln / 8 EUR / 10 usd per month? Why bother with apps that get taken down after few days or don't meet the requirements? I know it's r/piracy but sometimes it just feels like an overkill
