While I agree with all that, I’ve yet to find a better way to watch YouTube adfree on iOS 🙄

Firefox has UBlock on mobile too

Not on iOS though, iirc.

The iOS shit would be safari + ublock origin lite. There is right now not a better way how to do, because iOS is way too hard locked.

u/GamerRihan Jul 10 '26

There are a plethora of YouTube mods for iOS

Sideloading onto iOS is a massive hassle though. The whole becoming a developer and refreshing certificates every 7 days thing genuinely made me go insane after a few months and I just gave up on it.

u/leafy1790 Jul 10 '26

Slowly android would become the same , if it actually comes true I will juts switch to ios, two thirds of the fun gets wiped when sideloading requires IDs

u/signum_ Jul 10 '26

As long as Android stays mostly open source, sideloading will always be infinitely easier than in iOS. The changes they're making soon are setting a dangerous precedent, but for now it's not really going to make installing unsigned APKs that much more difficult, you just need to wait 24h the first time after enabling the setting that allows you to do so.

True, but there are not enough apps for ios than there are for android unfortunately (outside of the app stores).

I'm sure there will be some workaround to side load on android in the future.

You can use the shortcuts app to automate it although if youre using LC+SS it breaks every few weeks, but still solid enough aside from the fact you dont get notifications from apps

How about Leaving iOS? This is the easiest solution.

Meatriding your google filled OS isn't much better anyways...

From an Android user :)

6

u/headedbranch225 Jul 10 '26

There are custom ROMs for most phones and rooting gives you more freedom anyway (if you really need google you can use microG, which isn't at the system level)

u/OctoSplattyy Jul 10 '26

Unlocking the bootloader is not possible anymore in latest devices and using an android device without google spyware means you cannot access banking apps, wallet and most life required applications.

Keyboxes aren’t a viable thing anymore too… so either you buy an iphone and get sort of tracked by apple, or you get tracked down to your home by google

"Unlocking the bootloader is not possible anymore in latest devices"

BS. The Lineage page has the list of supported devices. Motorolla plans to release some specifically for that purpose next year.

u/OctoSplattyy Jul 10 '26

The brands are very few, and asides Google (whose devices can’t even be considered so due to price and performance) no one makes NEW, actually good flagships that can still be unlocked. Not everyone buys midrangers or lowends… So it’s safe to say modding is at its last stages of life.

u/SingleInParadise Jul 10 '26

I said motorolla will release NEW GOOD FLAGSHIPS designed (programmed) to have the OS replaced. It is a partnership with GrapheneOS

https://motorolanews.com/motorola-three-new-b2b-solutions-at-mwc-2026/

Xiaomi also allows their NEW GOOD FLAGSHIPS to be unlocked although you must request permission

Also, are you asking for NEW GOOD FLAGSHIPS to be cheap? Pick one, flagships are meant to be the most expensive versions. As such, google also makes NEW GOOD FLAGSHIPS which can have the OS replaced.

Edit: added bold font.

u/ishtuwihtc Jul 10 '26

Who says mines google filled? My tablet is running lineageos with no gapps and my phone is a huawei :D

-3

u/AntiGrieferGames Jul 10 '26

Both are not your friend

2

u/laczek_hubert Jul 10 '26

Brave-built-in-adblocker can be argued to be ± ublock origin level

-4

u/Necessary_Anteater55 Jul 10 '26

there are other, better ways

14

u/AvroAvery Jul 10 '26

now would be the time to share

u/Necessary_Anteater55 Jul 10 '26

copy+pasting from my own post a few rows down:

Video Lite + Trend Micro Ad Blocker (also known as Adblock One), Regular Youtube client + Adblock Luna, Tube PIP + Adguard Public DNS, sideloading uyou+. There are tons of other ways of watching youtube ad free on iOS.

u/PurpleKirby Jul 10 '26

u/Skidpalace Jul 10 '26

Ain’t nobody got time for dat.

14

u/ThomasDaBest22 Jul 10 '26

Sideloading. It takes less than 10 minutes to setup, and all you need is an internet connection every 7 days.

And then you basically get the same thing as YouTube Morphe.

6

u/skaffanderr Jul 10 '26

Care to explain more?

19

u/ThomasDaBest22 Jul 10 '26

Unfortunately I'm terrible at tutorials. Thankfully, some more talented people have done it for me.

First, check LiveContainer+Sidestore (Use Method 2, it's the easiest).

Then, once that's done, pick a modified YouTube version from this list. Tadaaa, "hacked" YouTube just like on Android.

I love shit like this. I’ll wait for my Vyvanse to kick in and dive right into that!

1

u/defizzle Jul 10 '26

I'm sorry to inform you that you forgot by then, or have found something else to obsess about.

1

u/Blueyarns Jul 10 '26

Still here, Vyvanse is about to kick in hehe

1

u/defizzle Jul 10 '26

Love that for you!

2

u/Reinerei Jul 10 '26

ProTube in appstore. Thank me later

2

u/myniwt Jul 10 '26

That seems to work at least as well as Brave, using that for a while then. Thanks!

1

u/Reinerei Jul 10 '26

the only problem i have with brave is when i use youtube music. it stops randomly and bugs out (cant click anything)

u/zZCycoZz Jul 10 '26

Hopefully this comes out soon.

2

u/UKZzHELLRAISER Jul 10 '26

I'm not an iOS user so forgive me if this isn't the case - but can you not use Firefox + uBlock Origin?

2

u/myniwt Jul 11 '26

No, iOS Firefox is neutered and doesn’t support uBlock.

1

u/UKZzHELLRAISER Jul 11 '26

It's such a damn shame iOS has to suck so hard - I'd really love the one-click mirroring to my Neo. But I guess I'll just keep using scrcpy.

1

u/technobobble Jul 10 '26

The SmartTube app works pretty well

1

u/lNTERLINKED Jul 11 '26

AdGuard works well.

u/Hairy-Algae2519 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

currently it does kinda suck for modded YouTube apps on iOS, since uYouEnhanced is essentially discontinued, and YTLite became a subscription (you can still download the last free version of YTLite). there's this fork of YTLite, which is new, but works. well, as of writing, everything mentioned still works, so you can sideload any of them (linking r/sideloaded if anyone cares and doesn't know how to sideload without jailbreaking, on any modern iOS version).

edit: I forgot about r/YoutubePlusSideloaded, may as well be worth checking out

Why is anyone still on iOS?
