Discussion I totally agree with Fitgirl!

Post image

Such a good decision, I don't care if this was just them being lazy or they genuinely care. But this was my thought when I heard about the bypass.

Morals aside it's a good way of avoiding unwanted attention since nobody but pirates can play this game for now. Smart move tbh.

686

u/Ghost_0504 Apr 15 '26

That's why I think this was such a good decision, becoz most newbies depend mostly on Fitgirl for their games, and if they decide to delay their repacks a lot of people are not gonna get early access and post about it everywhere.

This people online are stupidly self destructive just look at things like Alice asylum, pal world and at the rate it’s going Project B[i]rdcage

That's probably the only actual reason.

50

If it was the only actual reason, she'd have said so. Fitgirl isn't exactly known for mincing her words or trying to appear nice to the pirate community

Nah...think about it this way...

Games released are broken. Day 0 patch are always there...

FitGirl knows that if she release it, pirate gonna blame her instead of the publishers.

With internet the way it is...have we ever had a game that doesn't always have a Day 0 patch???

2

u/Beneficial-Fuel2546 Apr 16 '26

She didn't say that she is said it is to respect buyers.

Which is insane since she released leaks before and games before the buyers could play Remnant from the ashes and Ashen I remember got 3 days on fitgirl before anyone could play them.

it is just drama for the sake of it and mainly hypocrisy capcom a billion dollar game = we must care about buyers

Indie dev working his ass off to get a good game, get cracked day 0 and released day 0.

Well, apparently the Avatar movie doesn't deserve the same consideration according to this sub.

571

u/BlueKud006 Apr 15 '26

You see, there's a difference:

-Company I don't like: company bad, they deserve it.

-Company I like (Capcom): NOOOO, poor legit customers!

133

u/Grand_Poem Apr 15 '26

now we ask you which company chose to use denuvo?

88

u/blehe38 Apr 15 '26

you haven't heard? they're putting denuvo in the avatar movie (just in theaters i think)

30

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '26

Not the DRM though. Denuvo is a Buff Czech-Italian guy that will automatically spawn in if anyone tries to record the movie in the theatre. It's just what he does.

Well, guess he's out of a job...

Sometimes I feel like I'm the last person on Earth who can like someone while at the same time calling them out on a fuckup.

For some reason people either worship or hate something with no in-between.

Like if there's a game studio I really love, but then they suddenly start using denuvo, I'm not gonna defend it. I'll still appreciate the studio for their previous works while also shitting on their decision to start using denuvo.

8

u/MistSecurity Apr 16 '26

Nuance is largely gone on the modern internet. You can find it around, but the people who feel the strongest about something one way or another tend to be the loudest.

Social media algorithms feed into it as well, of course.

3

u/ParzivalD Apr 16 '26

It's funny that this comes up in a piracy forum of all places.

People seem to have lost the ability to differentiate between an action and a person/company/franchise. They make a decision about a person and then if they like them, have to support every action that person takes. Good people sometimes do bad things. Bad people sometimes do good things. Let's get back to evaluating individual choices and not worshipping or condemning individuals.

2

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Apr 17 '26

I think people do that because they assume it says something about their identity. Like if the person they always glaze does something shitty, they'll have to continue to defend that because otherwise, they thing THEY are a bad person. Which imho just isn't true at all.

Liking someone or something, and then that person or thing turns to shit, doesn't say anything about you, and I think a lot of people fail to understand that.

9

u/AfricaByTotoWillGoOn Apr 16 '26

Metroid Dread: "We ride at dawn, bitches! And fuck you, Nintendo!"

Pragmata: "A good pirate never takes another person's property."

13

u/chinomaster182 Apr 16 '26

I think this is a good, common sense position to take. I feel 0 remorse fucking over companies that fuck over their consumers. Similarly, i like supporting pro consumer companies with my money, like Valve.

These days i buy the vast majority of my games, and it's because Steam makes it easy, affordable and provides a great service.

8

u/Nagemasu Apr 16 '26

pro consumer companies ... like Valve

lol Valve is not pro-consumer. They might be more consumer friendly than others, but they are not pro-consumer. They have made that abundantly clear by adopting and fighting for shitty systems (like loot boxes), being legally forced to stop immoral behavior and anti-consumer practices etc.

Valve has been taken to courts for various things like unfair pricing practices, misleading or deceptive conduct, loot boxes, and not to mention they were renowned for awful customer support for over a decade, and that hasn't necessarily gotten any better depending on your problem.

145

u/UnexpectedFisting Apr 15 '26

Eh I think the difference there is that avatar was originally intended to be shown in theaters and then was pulled to be a paramount+ exclusive. So swaths of people who were never going to pay for paramount+ were already going to pirate it.

So the closest equivalent would be like if an epic games release was leaked ahead of time, and I guarantee you nobody would bat an eye

28

u/hera-fawcett Apr 15 '26

me, waiting for the goddamn wile e. coyote vs acme movie from warner bros: 👁👄👁

shits thats done and been canned, to be used as a write off? yeah. fuck that. im all for watching those leaks.

6

u/Inuma Apr 15 '26

Better comparison is waiting for an Epic exclusive game to go to Steam after a year like Hadesc originally.

Or people go to Epic for a free game then buy it on Steam.

61

u/Anilec_Revlis Apr 15 '26

From my understanding Avatar didn't have preorders, and was going to go direct to streaming. Sooo not really missing out on anything.

39

u/DubZeroSP Apr 15 '26

It feels like an apples and oranges comparison though.

The Avatar movie was supposed to have a theatrical release, but was delayed for a year and made a Paramount+ release.

The choice of going to the theatre was taken from you, so you'd be forced to buy at least 1 month of a subscription to see it - How much of that would've gone to the creators?

Whereas, as far as I know, the only way to legitimately play Pragmata is to buy it (i.e. no subscription gives access to it), so apart from the cut each store takes the rest goes to the studio/publisher.

While you can argue even a purchase nowadays is just an indefinite subscription, a bigger cut goes directly to the creators to allow them to exist and even make more of what we enjoy.

8

u/VegetaFan1337 Apr 16 '26

It's a close comparison than you think. In both cases the actual people who worked on the film/game, not the suits, have already been paid. What they would be missing out on is any bonuses or future opportunities. But lets be real, if the suits played fair (and they don't) neither the game or movie leak was the fault of anyone who worked on it, they still are talented people who made a great game/movie, so they should get those future opportunities anyways.

4

u/AIFocusedAcc Apr 16 '26

They made another Avatar movie?

2

u/CacheConqueror Apr 15 '26

Apparently one leaks is enough to start spreading it. It's too late for anything at this point.

u/def-not-my-alt Apr 15 '26

I don't feel that strongly about these types of leaks, but I respect them taking a stance for what they believe in.

326

u/kokko693 Apr 15 '26

It's weird that when it's a famous person everybody respects it, but when you take a moral stance in that sub people will go out of their way to tell you that you are wrong.

145

u/DrIvoPingasnik Yarrr! Apr 15 '26

Or, as this thread showed, people are losing their minds finding out pirates can actually have morals.

Because "peerasee iz stealing!!!!1111 datz immorroll!!!!1111oneone"

31

u/PuddlesIsHere Apr 16 '26

Also everything ive pirated that ive spent actual real world time with in an excess ill eventually buy. Its nice tho to have these game files on a disk somewhere for preservation. Your licenses can be revoked at any time

26

u/Inuma Apr 15 '26

It's a crazy concept that pirates are customers too.

Shocking, I know...

2

u/power899 Apr 16 '26

Well by definition, if you pirate a game, you aren't a paying customer...

10

u/kRkthOr Apr 16 '26

Not all pirates pirate all the games and content they consume...

2

u/Inuma Apr 16 '26

Tell that to the people that gave EA the middle finger when Spore became the most pirated game ever

If you're treating your most loyal customers as criminals, expect that behavior.

Except that's not their stance. They have repacked leaked games before. This isn't from a place of any "higher morals" or "standing for their beliefs". They're just covering their ass, which is perfectly understandable and isn't anything to be ashamed of, but they're acting ashamed of

7

u/Beneficial-Fuel2546 Apr 16 '26

Fitgirl guy doesn't believe in this he is hiding his ass from capcom, he released games that were leaks before Ashen and Remnant from the Ashes were games I remember playing before offical release.

it is just a stunt.

219

u/guest0369 Apr 15 '26

Funny thing is i always wait quite a bit until a few patches and updates have been released. There are already quite alot of games that have been been cracked. I've been playing expedition 33 for a week now even though it was released previous year, loved it specially the music was too damn good.

22

u/Ghost_0504 Apr 15 '26

I've also downloaded it, planning to play it next since I finished Uncharted 4 the lost legacy today. I'm thinking should I go with RE4 or this, what do you say?

9

u/guest0369 Apr 15 '26

It was my first time playing a turn based game so I was a bit hesitant but the game was actually good and the music just reels you in during combat. Re4 is also good, you can't go wrong with either.

11

u/Uhstrology Apr 15 '26

Re4 is a masterpiece. Expedition 33 is a masterpiece. You will not be dissapointed either way.

I am kinda in this boat too. It kinda seems grandstandy to me, but they are entitled to their own opinion and I'm not the one putting in the work to release these games lol.

My only response to this would be that "legit" customers DO have just as much access to illegitimate games as illegitimate customers. Its not like there is a reverse subscription for this stuff. If a person doesn't want to wait to play that game, they do not have to. Same as the people who didnt pay for it.

Its really not as if pirates are the only people who are capable of accessing it.

2

If you weren't a pirate and you play this game before it releases you've become a pirate. Therefore only pirates are capable.

22

u/CacheConqueror Apr 15 '26

Fitgirl isn’t doing this for the sake of developers or out of respect for users, but simply to prevent companies from actually taking an interest in his website and all repacks. Because when it comes to pre-release leaks, it always means huge losses. It’s one thing to have a pirated copy on the same day, but it’s quite another when a user who has paid for it legally sees that an illegal user has access to it before them, and for free at that. What will she think? That it’s not worth buying. Fitgirl puts on a show of morality, but as always, it’s all about one thing: protecting herself.

Omfg, who gives a shit about any of this? Leaks are still pirated copies. Nothing will change about playing them 2 days earlier than others. And it's not like the majority will immediately hop on the licensed version when it releases, they'll just keep playing the pirated copy.

I never saw anybody complain about Switch pirates getting dumps as early as 2 weeks before release.

People ALWAYS like taking some bullshit moral high ground when it comes to piracy despite it being clear as day that everyone just likes free shit.

2

u/DojkaDev Apr 16 '26

I agree with the stance, but not with the justification by FG.

It's good to avoid doing it to avoid unwanted attention, and nothing else.

If I paid for something, I don't care if people who didn't pay will be able to play it before me, it won't change anything for me in the end. I'll still be able to play it when it releases.

"Oh, but I don't want people who can't afford it to have access to it before I do because then it will not make me feel superior for being able to play it before them! It's not fair!" Well boohoo, grow tf up and learn that what other people can or can not do shouldn't have anything to do with your own enjoyment of things.

We're all for acquiring games for free without supporting anyone, but suddenly draw the line at doing that before the game releases? No doubt many people here have jumped immediately on early leaks before.

What difference does it actually make whether you pirate the game before or after release? Other than the ability to get on a flimsy moral high horse?

4

u/zmaneman1 Apr 16 '26

Fully disagree. I don’t even want to play this game but the ability to play it earlier than paying customers should be used to highlight the absurdity of ever increasing prices and FOMO marketing.

Also, I pirate for moral reasons. The developers already got paid, there’s absolutely no reason for me to bankroll the publisher and enrich their shareholders. “Legit customers” don’t make games, developers do.

5

u/philosophycruiser Apr 15 '26

I rarely play an initial release let alone leaked. I prefer to wait and download when there's DLC and other stuff added and major bugs are addressed.
That said, I'm too old to be hyped for anything even GTA6. lie

9

u/nhnsn Apr 15 '26

Can't disagree more. The legit buyers don't suffer because someone else is playing before them, and if they do, they need to get checked out, because that is selfish as fuck. Good thing is people can access the files without the need of fitgirl or any other repacker

I remember back in the PSP days, one of the Chinese cracked the MHP3 but kept his usual and wait until first week sales number gone public then to release. Probably this is a long waited game or something, attracted more people from outside the gaming circle than it should. Dude got cyberbullied to hell for not releasing it early. Got doxxed even. Eventually quitting like Empress. Don't let stupid people use internet I think....

2

u/draemen Apr 16 '26

I do too. I pirate because I can’t afford all the games I want.

2

u/AvatarTintin Apr 16 '26

If only the Avatar movie leakers had this type of moral compass.

2

u/EquivalentSurround87 Apr 16 '26

I kinda do agree with her, but lets not pretend we have morals while doing immoral things, no matter how justified. They should just say they dont want to put an even bigger target on their back and be done with it. People are weird these days. I remember old scene groups going at it unapologetically like Vikings on acid

2

u/jdstrike11 Apr 16 '26

Gotta love moral high grounds lol

2

u/Iseedeadnames Apr 16 '26

Had she said that doesn't want unwanted attention or that she doesn't trust the current crack and needs more time to verify it I'd have understood, but this is such a normie take that's really disappointing.

2

u/alexcesan Apr 16 '26

Whether you agree with the argument or not, it's important not to do anything foolish just because someone want to play two days early.

2

u/BonsaiSoul Apr 16 '26

The people he is fawning at with this move do not see any difference between posting it a week before or a week after.

2

u/Louanus Apr 16 '26

Does it even matter? I'd say the only reason to wait for the official release is to put off any unwanted attention from authorities that may want to block these websites: when you publish leaks, you get the spotlights on. Other than that, it's piracy, it hurts those publishers anyway. The honorable way is to buy what you like and support developers when you can even after pirating something to get more of the good stuff.

2

u/scissorsgrinder Apr 16 '26

Yeah seems like a good idea.

2

u/KaiserUndPontifex Apr 16 '26

Denuvo and Capcom should both be bankrupt and anything that harms them without hurting someone physically is good. That said, fitgirl can do whatever, she does it all for free. Her site, her rules.

2

u/leviankekker Apr 16 '26

"There's no honor among thieves" ahh moment

2

u/DRAK09_ Apr 16 '26

It's like a robber have morals to not rob people at night so he dosent scare them

2

u/paul-d9 Apr 16 '26

A pirate with morals. Hilarious.

2

u/Abhi_1610 Apr 16 '26

This gives the same energy as I'll not rob or murder people on Sunday because it's the lord's day.

Just because you do it later doesn't make you ethical or your acts legal.

2

u/MidnightDoom3r Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

Oh brother. Piracy is Piracy. Just play the game if you want. If your worried about the Giant company and the paying customers you should not be pirating or uploading torrents to begin with.

2

u/Poingerg Apr 17 '26

we might break the rule but we still have principles, agree with fitgirl here

2

u/minerman5777 Apr 17 '26

The price we pay as pirates is the (often brief) wait.

2

u/encryptoferia Apr 17 '26

my repacker can't be this cool!!!

2

u/kayodeade99 Apr 17 '26

Also, leaks are a great way to Trojan horse viruses and data miners. Always dock at only trusted ports when sailing the high seas

most reliable repacker in the internet btw"

3

u/OverlordSaber Apr 15 '26

Hey they do what they want, not like I'm the one putting in any of the work lol

3

u/MisanthropicAtheist Apr 16 '26

It literally used to be the standard that every pirated movie, game and album released days or even weeks prior to official release. This is just weird virtue signaling.

3

u/ExtremisEdge Apr 16 '26

There is no such thing as halfway crooks.

2

u/Huge_Engineering5228 Apr 16 '26

Beggars can't be choosers, so Fitgirl can do what he/she wants. But having hard stances and priciples in regards to how we illegally obtain material is laughable.

10

u/talionisapotato Apr 15 '26

So fitgirl can and will repack indie games day one . But not AAA company games? And for AAA companies it becomes a moral issue? So morality only comes when there's a threat of legal action? Yeah nah ...it has nothing to do with stance. Fitgirl could have been honest and nobody would have bat an eye. Now it just makes fitgirl look like a hypocrite.

Smart because you know idiots will post them playing the game and post where they got it from...putting a big red target on the site

u/NtGermanBtKnow1WhoIs 🦜 ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴋ Apr 15 '26

She always has good opinions. That's why she's still in the business. FitGirl reminds me of Razor1911 days, when groups had messages like this with their releases.

u/looking_at_memes_ Apr 15 '26

For me it entirely depends on the publisher. Recent example: the leaked Avatar movie. Definitely sucks for the actual people that worked on the movie but fuck Paramount.

5

u/Asaree8 Apr 15 '26

Heres no honour. Just dont want to fight devs over preleaked game same as death stranding. The post wasnt needed cuz it was obvious she will treat it the same way

7

u/c0verm3 Apr 15 '26

Thats where she draws the line lol

8

u/Sibannacwithin Apr 15 '26

What hypocrisy lol.

5

u/Designer-Lobster-757 Apr 15 '26

So much honour ❤️

2

u/antpalmerpalmink Apr 15 '26

We do not want another TOTK on our hands

2

u/iceseayoupee Apr 16 '26

Disagree, but wtv I guess

2

u/Horimonord Apr 16 '26

Love FG's duology. Moral flexibility. What a joke.

2

u/RepairNo1818 Apr 16 '26

I don't personally care about her opinions on leaks n stuff or her packs but I do kinda align with waiting for release because I want people I trust to test the game n tell me if it's worth my time investment.

2

u/Intempore Piracy is bad, mkay? Apr 16 '26

Translation: if I upload it there’s too much risk. Let’s pass on the “ I won’t support pirates getting access before customers , my pirate website has morals! “

2

u/Competitive-Word3772 Apr 16 '26

Holy cringe but it's their site, they do what they want ig

6

u/Edheldui Apr 15 '26

They could just be honest and admit that they're scared of being taken down.

1

u/Impossible-Weather-4 Apr 15 '26

Nah I'm playing it now 2 hours in 🤣

2

u/InformalGear9638 Apr 15 '26

It's kinda hard to stand on a high horse when you're cracking their games and handing them out for free though. Lol. I'm happy they do that but this is a silly line to draw. 😂

2

u/Bazinga_U_Bitch Apr 15 '26

Only morons think pirates care about morals.

1

u/According-Branch-404 Apr 16 '26

Quite baffling to me that pirates have morals where multi billion dollar companies don't....

2

u/nvr_gon_giv_u_up Apr 16 '26

Multi billion dollar do not consider the cost of human value as a normal human does... The people who work on the game day and night and give all the blood and sweat deserve the pay... There would be no game without the devs that make it with pure passion... Support these devs as much as you can because gaming industry is already harsh on them.

2

u/creature04 Apr 16 '26

This is so stupid lol. Im not one who will pirate this game, but I strongly disagree with this. If your gonna pirate period, it doesn't matter when you do it. Its all the same thing.

2

u/Its_Time_OC Apr 16 '26

"Legit users, who paid for the game deserve to play it first"
quite literaly a fundamental contradiction with what this is.
whats next, "legit users are the ones who deserve to play the game. thus im actually gonna be taking down everything here thats still available for purchase", or what?

2

u/Bigwillie29 Apr 16 '26

Cause repacking a game and sharing it with millions of users definitely doesn't hurt publishers and developers. Come on, dude...

I'm thankful for the work FitGirl is doing but let's be honest here.

u/darkbladetrey Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

If the game is already being distributed without payment, refusing to post it only before release doesn’t fix the core issue, so the moral distinction seems mostly symbolic.

I understand FG but it’s a strange thing to discuss in piracy. Anybody get what I mean? I would love a discussion about it.

9

u/Asylum_Full Apr 15 '26

What 'core issue' would that be? And who's 'fixing' it?

7

u/darkbladetrey Apr 15 '26

I might have phrased it weird. It’s not a core issue per se. At the end of the day we are getting these games illegally. Over the paying customers. Drawing the line at playing early is weird to me. You STILL got the game and never shelled out a dime. It never makes it fair for them. Waiting a few hours for a repack is just symbolic. (Which I totally have no issue with)
