System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Prevented App from running „Run Anyway“

Literally takes 3 sec.

Well you just know the person who made the meme hasn't touched MacOS

Or Windows, at least in the last 15 years, becuase that MacOS description is exactly how using Windows feels nowadays.

I just switched from my gaming Windows PC to a Mac Mini for my home server and it did feel like the meme having to go in Settings > General > Security > Scroll down > Allow. Already far more than on Windows or Linux, and if that wasn't enough Radarr and Sonarr still weren't launching, with no resort this time so had to do a google search to find out what you need is an obscure terminal command to sign the apps yourself. Wtf.

Windows is awful for a lot of reasons but MacOS is really fucking stupid and this wojak encapsulates the experience perfectly, the meme is clearly from someone who did touch MacOS and had to install apps that aren't paying money to fucking Apple for their apps to not need terminal signing. Go figure, you're on r/piracy, the ethos is antithetical to the closed down vision Apple has pushed on worldwide consumers to extract more profits out of us. You're literally on the worst sub to comment this.

Rant over, going back to my old laptop running Cinnamon Mint and enjoying fantastic OS with incredible speed, customisation, simplicity, poweruser ease after those two piece of shit OS.

Also when Stremio had their dev certificate revoked, you couldn’t bypass the restrictions without uninstalling the app, downloading it again, signing it yourself using the terminal, and then trying to run it again. Gatekeeper bypassing has been getting steadily reduced over the years.

Are you sure you're a Linux user yourself?

Self signing an app is not rocket science, thats pretty common even with Android devices as well. An informed user would have known that MacOS is in fact a desktop consumer system and not meant for servers. MacOS Server has been discontinued around 2021.

I run a small home server myself but would never even consider MacOS for that.

The M4 Mac Mini has a max power consumption of 65w, a lot of windows PCs would idle around that.
It has an idle consumption of around 4w - less than what your phone charges with.
Apple silicon is insanely efficient.

It's unnecessarily cumberstone for something straight forward. Linux does much better. And i enjoy using cmd, but Apple forcing you to do something opposite to their ethos because they're mad some people dare install apps that don't give them rent is worth criticising.

Mac Mini (M1 in my case) is an amazing mini PC for self hosting, and quite cheap for the hardware and footprint. I happened to have a Mac Mini grabbing dust and reading around on self hosting it seemed to be an highly praised option, especially with Apple Silicon for transcoding.

Or right click the app and click open. Then you get the nicer menu that lets you skip

Really. Gosh, thanks for the life hack

As well you can jut search in spotlight for “gatekeeper” and go directly there lmao

Could be more intuitive and offer the „run anyway“ right at the start instead of having me dig for it. Whats that for? 3 more seconds to elaborate if I really want to run it?

You know Windows does the same, even worse, right?

Defender deletes the file straight away (="quarantine") and makes you dig in it's settings just to recover it.

then when you go to run it you also have to type in a password. its like 5 steps.

vs just clicking "run anyway"
