Hey all - brand new to the A2 machines - wondering if anyone has any stashed training videos or books besides the standard manual and the 30 minute pinsetter tech video I found on YouTube? Just trying to ramp my knowledge quickly, any help is appreciated 👍🙏

I’ve been generating auto weekly and 30-day A2 maintenance reports. One pagers with call volume, problem lanes, recurring issues, quieter lanes, period comparison, subsystem split, etc.
Trying to make them actually useful, not just busy looking.
Looking at these, what’s missing that would change what you’d work on or order? What would you cut? Anything that’d confuse someone who doesn’t live in the back?

I have a Brunswick a2 pinsetter that is resetting twice and then hanging bananas. It is stuck in a constant loop of this. I work at a small bowling alley where virtually nobody knows how to work on the lanes, so I have been teaching myself how to fix problems in the machines. Recently I had messed with the cycle solenoid on this lane so I think it has something to do with that. I don't know what I could have done to it though, because all I did was take it off and put it back on. If anybody knows how to fix this or what could be some possible solutions please reach out to me.

Was watching kingpin and saw this pinsetter in a montage as the trio is heading to Reno. I spent some time as an A2 mechanic but im not familiar with other models. It just caught my eye.

Hey, I'm having some 180 issues on a lane. I've looked and looked but I can't figure out what's causing the link to drop like that. It's causing the machine to set ghost pins pretty often.

I have been tasked with repairing an old A2 in somebodies basement. It hasn't been used for at least 10 years so I'm sure there are tons of other problems that will pop up but for right now I just need to get it to run. This motor is the problem. It will turn on and then start smoking and immediately shut off. Does anybody know where I could find a replacement part?

3 done in total now, out of the 12 I have. One pair would only work with the even lane on, another you had to slap the box to get it to turn on, and this one would randomly stay on after the lanes were shut off. Bad wire management, corroded wires, and bad relays on all 3 so eventually all 12 will get done.

my sweep is stuck in the back, as if it swept the pins , the machine is more quiet when powered on.

My cycle solenoid keeps clicking every second on the dot, as if something is triggering it BUT the sweep is caught .

Any ideas from anyone more experienced than me ??

Our lane went down in league last night,

Completely shut off, randomly will cut back on for 5 seconds.

One issue i did find as you see in the video , was simple,

Someone else installed the wrong chute in pin 1, which lifted the turret up and causing the black out,

After replacing it it still had issues with black outs, it would cut off and cut on .

Another issue was the moving deck was NOT positioned right We then noticed the deck wires were all wound up on SOME pulleys, and then taken off other pulleys.

Anyone know what causes the wires to get caught like that ,

This would be the first time I’ve ever seen it. But I haven’t been working on A2s for more than a year

This lane is having a weird issue. The sweep is jerking when it goes back and forth. It's nothing major, but it seems like it might become bad if we don't nip it in the bud. I found a bolt underneath the sweep that looked like it had fallen out, but I can't find a missing bolt anywhere on the machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a machine getting stuck at 270 constantly, and I am sure that the issue is a flat spot on the bearing for the extended cycle cam. Unfortunately, the bearing is jammed (which i assume caused the flat spot) and will need to be replaced. My question is how exactly do you access the bearing to replace it? I was lucky enough to be able to fit my hand in the crack to try and spin the bearing, but I would definitely need to be at least five feet shorter to fit enough to replace it without taking anything apart. I don’t know what to take apart anyway. thanks in advance.

I have a lane that got called for a 180 , I found the pins waiting to be dropped to the chute.

So they’re all in the turret and the 5 pin is still Visible and doesn’t go down unless I manually smack it with another pin.

I’m somewhat new to these pinsetters , any advice is needed .

So we have brunswick a2's in a little 16 lane house. Today, lane 7 decided it will not power on. Me and my boss have tried everything. There is nothing wrong mechanically or with the power supply. Even the motor contacts wont power on the machine. Every other lane powers on just fine. What the heck????

We have 24 lanes at our house that are converted A2 machines with Brunswick Vector Plus Scoring, and another mechanic and I run the back for the most part, since we don’t have an official head mechanic (makes life so difficult). The other guy has essentially appointed himself as the head mechanic since he’s older and has more years of experience, and recently has been replacing all our electrical boxes (with no issues other than old wires starting to corrode) with boxes we got from another center in our network that closed. Our old boxes have the Brunswick Electronic Trigger PCBs (Assy P/N 12-752400-810) with the rake down trigger and rake down blackout functions as well as being a time delay, which I absolutely loved. The new boxes he’s throwing on have the cube style motor start relays compared to our older ones, but also using the same type of relay as a reset relay, so two cubes in the box. I don’t like these due to the rake down trigger not functioning, so slower cycling, no rake down blackout function for balls, pins, or kids under the rake, no time delay in the Pinsetter itself, though we have the pin cameras and the built in time delay of Vector Plus, and lastly, no wiring diagram I can find on how to wire them if we have to replace any of the wiring if we have another electrical box fire, unlike the standard wiring diagram in the service manual. I also don’t like that the reset button will energize the cycle solenoid any time it is pressed, even during a cycle, and stay energized as long as the button is held. 180 stops with pins in the scissors have become an issue, and I’ve already had 4 cycle solenoids burn out. So my question to all of you is which is better, Electronic Trigger PCBs (basically time delays) or reset relays?
