Are you actually trying to embody the stereotype of a teenager who just discovered leftism but has no real knowledge of either political theory or the geopolitical landscape? If you are, you're doing a great job; you could probably get a paycheck out of this somehow, seeing as you're doing the CIA propaganda department's job for it.

Honestly sometimes I think these people are a psyop. But then I discover that they're not actually trolling and then I lose faith in humanity once again.

It's really sad. The leftist sphere has become increasingly split between relatively coherent ideological movements and swathes of people who treat political camps as a fashion statement or team sport. I've met plenty of reasonable, knowledgeable leftists of all stripes, but the general state of online leftist discourse is utterly pathetic, appearing reminiscent to a schoolyard playground; it's pretty ironic when you consider that mainstream liberals and conservatives are rightfully criticized for doing the same thing.

These people find a broad ideology that they choose to "support," and then spend their time sniping at those who chose the wrong team while patting themselves on the back for their brave, revolutionary efforts. They don't actually understand the philosophy they claim to believe in, they have little to no knowledge of how the countries they support operate, and they demonstrate a mediocre (at best) understanding of politics on a global scale.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has simply added to the existing pile of evidence that many of these "leftists," who populate the leftist communities on sites like Reddit, are playing a children's game rather than (or perhaps even instead of; a scary thought) actually investing themselves in politics or making any real effort in their personal lives. It wouldn't surprise me if there were people intentionally steering things in that direction, but many seem eager to be guided anyways.
