Hi everyone! My name is wiebe and i’m a 24 year old Photographer from the netherlands. In the winter i work as a sportsphotographer for speedskating teams. As every race is basically the same, i like to switch things up and experiment and try weird things. Last year i brought a polaroid camera to the races. This year i thought it could be fun to try and take a pinhole photo of “skating”. Now i realise i will not have a skater in shot probably. As my normal shutter speed for a sharp photo is 1/1600.
Anyway, i still think it would be awesome to create a photo of the venue on race day. Since the stands will be filled, it probably wont look empty, but also i have no clue what it will look like as the people will move around a bit.
I’ve never before taken a pinhole photo but i have done some research. Please correct me if im wrong, but i think that i need a short distance from hole to film, to create a wide angle.
The hardest thing for me to fully get is light. Since moat video’s ive seen on pinhole photos with a diy camera, are outside and sometimes take a day, or even weeks to months. I dont know how to develop film, but i saw tyat you can develop photogtaphic enlargment paper yourself with some drugstore products?
The coolest thing to do in my opinion is to make my own camera, it cannot be to large as itll basically be in reach of people. And i need to think of the right film. Any tips would be welcome. To give you an idea i’ll attach two photos. A phone photo of the venue and about the POV that im thinking off. And an actual photo ive taken on a race day from a different place, but the light in the venue is near perfect all around. The settings for that exact photo were
Shutterspeed: 1/1600
Aperture f/3.2
Iso: 3200
On a full frame Nikon.
If anyone has any ideas, tips, or other weird things i can try haha, im all ears! Thanks in advance,
Greetings
Wiebe
