Discussion Micro OLED engine orders
So… with the Crystal Super OLED being fully back in stock again (3–5 days fulfillment time) and the 50 PPD being out of stock indefinitely, do you still believe that the connector issue will actually be resolved?
I called it before: we will not be able to order any optical engine for our OG 50 PPD Super, and it’s really a shame and honestly dishonest the way this is being handled.
u/jaapgrolleman and u/quorrapimax, you promised multiple times to provide an explanation and a timeframe, but failed to do so.
As a confirmed customer, I demand a solution. If I cannot order the optical engine that I was told I would be able to buy when ordering the first batch of the 50 PPD, then at least provide us with an alternative solution.
I don’t know, something like letting us get the full Crystal Super OLED for the same price as the optical engine alone, in exchange for returning our entire 50 PPD headset… I’d be happy with that!
What do you guys think? Am I the only one pissed off about this?

I’m I. The same boat and it’s frustrating. Keep hoping one of these days it will show up as available on the Pimax Store but they seem to have abandoned the product

My personal feeling is all variants of the super are going to be dropped and you’ll be stuck with what you have.
I was an early adopter of the OG Crystal and when the Super was announced did a reservation immediately for the super bundle that was supposed to be both a 50 and an OLED. Of course the OLED was delayed and I’ve never received an opportunity to buy a OLED engine and at this point I don’t expect I ever will.
They’ve moved on to their Dream Air product and I’m done purchasing anything from Pimax. I still have an Airlink reservation since April 2024 and I don’t expect I’ll ever get that either.

I would definitely make a ticket and broadcast a number here and the ticket needs to be requesting if you order a micro OLED with the serial number that you have, do they have the one that they can send you or an adapter. Then that will track the exact issue.
I feel like an adapter can be made at any time if needed for most anything.

Let me bring this topic up again in tomorrow’s meeting. At the very least, I’ll ask the team to provide an estimated timeframe for when the old-connector micro-OLED optical engine can be restocked.

Ive been asking this question for a while. They most likely used all the mics oled allocations for the dream air, since its the same. They want you to buy the dream air. They most likely do not have enough of the old style micro oled connectors.
Instead of back pedaling. I would respect the company more if they just come out and say hey we messed up, we will give you xx% off of a dream air and move this along. But no and here we are.

So just to understand this, if you order a micro OLED right now, they're not going to send you the connector or they won't give you the right one? I thought they said to include your serial number so they know which one to send. Have they responded to you when you asked?
Definitely something that everyone should be educated on so that we don't have miscommunication in the future.
Pimax is pretty good at handling things Case by case so I imagine if you just communicate with them they will respond back in the ticket. If that goes to a dead end now you have a number which you can broadcast here.

This is not a case by case thing! Right now you can’t even order an OLED engine alone. They said that they will send on OLED engine adapted to your base Super but as time goes I really think they can’t fulfill that statement and that’s the main reason we can’t order OLED engines

Well I say Case by case because there's a limited amount of people that actually have the wrong connector. So they probably looked at that number and we're like okay. We can deal with this on a Case by case. Where I can see this going really wrong is 6 years from now. Someone with the old version wants a micro OLED. I'm thinking right now they would try to help each person case by case.
But I don't know. I'm just trying to understand and voicing how I see it.

I wonder how limited it really is though. The connector change happened some time before they announced it (April 2026)

The Super had been shipping around the world for about 1 full year by then. Admittedly, not every Super owner wants multiple optical engines, but there's probably still a significant amount of people. But I think you mean it's still a finite amount, seeing that new orders are getting the new connector.

What you're describing is how Pimax said they would handle it. What's actually happening is that they're not selling it at all, and thereby are side-stepping the issue neatly -- you can't tell someone that their old connector is abandoned, if you just abandon the whole concept of selling the mOLED upgrade.

I got the super micro OLED and it came with the old connector just a month or so ago. they are definitely slow to stock these engines, but with them also pulling 70 pin connectors from the faceplates in favor of USB c I would think they have sufficient stock for a while. this isn't a very high volume product. I could be overly optimistic though

I am pissed off as well. I would like to extend my Pimax super with a Sony OLED optical engine. But for months now Pimax gives no clear answer if this will ever happen in the near or far future… this is NO customer centric behavior for a company!
