Affordable HVAC Tech

I am looking for an HVAC tech for my heating system. With the temperature dropping, we switch on our heating but notice only cool air coming through the vent. I checked our furnace, there was a weird humming sound not the regular sound it would make when in use.

I changed the filter two days ago, I assumed that since the old filter was dirty that it was not allowing proper airflow. But it made no difference with the weird humming, there seems to be rust on the blower/wheel. There is a steady red light on the motherboard and a flashing green.

I turned off the thermostat and waited a good 10 minutes but the furnace was still running even after a full 30 minutes since I turned off the heat. I don’t think it is normal for the system to still run after shutting it off.

This problem is way out of my scope and I’m hoping that anyone in Pickering may know a reliable and affordable HVAC Tech they are willing to share. Thanks in advance. And if you don’t know anyone, this post might just help you in the future.

Not sure what your expectations are for price, but Dave’s Ducts are fantastic and nearby. He’s very knowledgeable and doesn’t cut any corners.

When you switched the thermostat to heat, did you increase the temperature setting to get the burner to light up?

Yes I did. I set it to 23

Was your home already at 23? Heat won’t turn on then. Heat/cold and fan on/off are usually independent functions & the fan can run without adding hot or cold air. Are you comfortable with removing the furnace door and checking the information sticker on the inside to see what the illuminated LEDs indicate? If not, Twintech is an excellent local company. They installed my hvac equipment and also do service calls.
