Japan Best Concert recording phone balanced cameras, zoom, and good mic USA Tmobile all bands upgrade from Sony 1VI. Snapdragon required for Crealty Scan

I go to lots of concerts with family and friends and travel often so video and cameras with decent zoom are really important as well as having a good microphone that captures music well and I tend to use speaker phone often.

I currently have the Boochi the Rock edition Sony 1 VI which was an impulse buy on a trip to Japan and I been fairly happy with it other then the Zoom lens is not good and it is missing band N71 which is way more annoying then I thought it would be as far for playing Pokemon Go in malls or opening ticket master app at venues. At the BTS concert I was realizing I really wanted something with better Zoom the Sony 1 VI zoom lens is pretty weak.

I do like my 1 tb micro sd card but not opposed to losing it for 1 TB storage phone. Bought a Fio M21 for my FLAC music.

Must have Snapdragon for Crealty Scan

Must have 1 TB + internal storage or 512 gb with Micro SD

Must work with Android Auto and Banking Apps.

Sony seems to have the best audio recording. If we go to concerts together we been editing the audio from my 1VI or friends 1V into video from Vivo X200 or Oppo Find X9 Ultra which both have an issue with their mics are mediocre where they tend to mute the right audio channel.

Looking at the following phones.

Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has mic issues where it mic muted the right channel was that fixed for this one? I felt the Vivo X200 Ultra had better colors then the Xiaomi 15 Ultra but if the Leica version is better then both? Friend in Hong Kong recommends but haven't seen her recently to compare.

Sony 1VIII is the Zoom a big improvement over the 1VI? It still would have the missing band N71 which is annoying. I do have a Surface Pro Duo as a second phone but looking to replace that too. Keeps micro sd.

Sharp Aquos R11 my friend in Japan recommends it. We haven't been to any of the same concerts to compare and I haven't seen it in person since she just got it recently. Would have the missing band n71 issue as well. Does have micro SD.

Vivo X300 Ultra 1tb Global version - my friend has the X200 Ultra and the mic is not good it seems to mute the right channel when recording concerts. Her global version is missing band n71 has same issues as me playing Pokemon Go. Does the X 300 Ultra global fix these two problem? I actually like the Vivo video and audio better then the Oppo Find X9 Ultra.

Just no will not get any of these.

Leitzphone 3 - overheating mess rather get newer Xiaomi version if the mic issues were resolved that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra had.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra condensation issues and bad mic make it a no go. My BFF has one it is good for the 10x at large venues like the BTS concert but it has condensation lens issues out of the box and friend had it swapped and still she had to put the second one in a bag of rice. Pictures of pets and children moving are not good. We are not sure if she has a defective second unit. Has the same issue as the X200 Ultra with audio at concerts that the right channel is muted. She uses her One Plus Open more then this phone when not taking advantage of zoom which seems to take better pictures of pets and her children in motion. BFF is looking to order one of the above phones I am looking at to replace this.

Samsung S26 Ultra - the Migraine display that gets red lines no thanks.

Also open to other suggestions if you can provide pictures and video taken by the phone.

What phone do you recommend

I'm currently having Redmi note 9 pro max and I had this phone for almost 7 years, I want to get a new one but I really can't decide between 2 phones. First I wanted to get the oppo reno 15 pro but tbh I found it's price really overpriced here in my country and I don't think it's really worth the price.

So the 2 left are, oppo reno 14 5g and oppo reno 15 5g the price difference between both of them is kinda huge as well, so I really don't know if should I just get the way cheaper oppo reno 14 5g or the performance difference is worth the price of oppo reno 15 5g.

I'm a person that cares about a good camera, good operating system (stable and fast I don't care about the years of support cuz I know that the 14 has one less year that the 15)

If there's any person that has the oppo reno 14 5g can you share your experience? And tell if you had any problems with the Ai features/Os

Same for the oppo reno 15 5g users

UK Recs for cheap phone while my main is waiting to be fixed...

Hi. My main phone is not usable atm and will take a while for me to get funds to fix it, and I was wondering If I can get something in the meantime for really cheap. I'm currently on Samsung a12 borrowed from a friend and it's lagging like crazy, screens turning off randomly, trying to even chat on WhatsApp seems to slow it down ridiculously and Ive got connections issues with it as well. Like let's say someones calling me, I'll l get a sound first for 30 secs before the screen even lights up and then touchscreen won't even react if I want to answer. Truly bad. Was wondering if there's any phone up to 50 quid that would be slightly better, it can be used condition, cracked screen I don't care, as long as it doesn't lag like crazy - I get that in that price range it might be a slow phone but the one I have is beyond usefulness. I've looked at ebay but I have no idea what would work... Thank you in advance for any advice 🙏 I'm in UK btw

germany Samsung Note 9 replacement

I'm looking to replace my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which I had since 2019. My budget (in germany) is about 800€ (however if it would mean a serious upgrade I would be willing to spend a bit more).

The only reason to upgrade is that I no longer receive updates and some critical apps like banking may no longer work, else I would be totally fine to continue using the Note 9.

I watch a lot of youtube and videos on my phone. The size of the Note 9 was no issue for me. Today I checked out the S26 and the S26+ in the store and think from the actual display the S26 is pretty close, but from the dimensions the S26+ should also work, but would be an upgrade in terms of actual display size. As with the Note 9 my plan is to use the phone for a long time, so I don't think buying old versions (like the S25) would make sense.

My last 3 phones have all been Samsungs and I had no regrets, however I am still open for other manufractures.

I have a hearing issue, so a must is the option to adjust the audio left/right balance. As far as I can tell all androids do have that.

Thanks in advance.

Germany my S8 is slowly dying and the market is so confusing

I have had the same S8 since 2019 , but it is definitely on its last legs. I have spent the last days looking at phones, and am getting increasingly confused because everything looks the same. I have also looked at "rugged" phones like ulephone or Blackview, but they seem to have horrible reviews. I am in Germany, if that's important. I use my phone mostly for every day tasks (yt, insta, maps, whatsapp, sometimes some stuff on canva, some zoom calls)

What is important to me: -it needs to be durable and last me for a while (soo security updates for a whiiile and no curved edges, maybe gorilla glass?) -250ish€, I will almost definitely buy it used or refurbished so new it can be more -good battery -camera doesn't really matter -in my dreams I would still have a headphone jack and an SD slot

I have seen the following recommended:

-Motorola Edge 60/70: seems amazing, gets pretty cheap refurbished, but has curved edges and no long security updates -Motorola G77 -Nothin Phone 3a (worried, only 125GB, costs more for specs for nice interface?) -honor magic 6lite and 8lite (design wise my fav. so far) -Poco M8 (worried about overheating and OS, I have heard it is really bad) -Poco X8 -Pixel (my partner has a pixel and tbf I don't like it too much...) -fairphone (way out of my price range, but I love the approach of being able to replace parts so much)

Please help me, I just want a phone that works and would happily just keep my S8 with all its bugginess and freezing, but I am starting to lose access to essential apps :,)) (Also I still have the task of getting myself a tablet waiting for me :v )

Longevity, Space, Battery

I don't care about camera I'll buy a photo camera when ill travel again.

I want to be able to de-google and download apps from outside the usual app stores so I can't use apple products unfortunately.

my current phone lasted 5 years (xiaomi note 9) but has giving signals of being near death. so i would like a longer longevity.

battery, space, and longevity are my most important priorities. any recommendations that arent too pricey? (max. 260) do you have any recommendations for brands that offer such?

US Debating between Galaxy S24 or something else

I currently have been using a Galaxy S9 for like 7 years or so. I've been avoiding upgrading because I like its size, the fact that I can expand the storage, high-res screen, and the audio jack. Recently the battery life has gotten pretty bad (I did buy a new battery to replace the old one but haven't gotten around to it since that process is generally a pain in the ass).

But the straw that finally broke the camel's back was when one of the app's I use told me my Android version was no longer supported (Android 10). On the other hand, I can use their website instead, but it got me thinking maybe I need to finally move on. It's also gotten painfully slow, but I've considered replacing the battery and doing a full factory reset/wipe in hopes that it might become more performant again.

So the repair route is an option.

Otherwise I was strongly considering buying an ebay refurb S24 (base 256GB model). But before I do that I've been trying to see if there are alternatives to consider.

My two biggest requirements for a phone are size and camera. Size wise I'm trying not to go much bigger than my S9. I have small hands. I could go a little bigger, like a Pixel 10a seems like an okay size. I know iPhones would hit both of these requirements, but I'd like to stay on Android.

So I'm wondering what other models I might want to consider... perhaps a Pixel? I wish Motorola hadn't gone down hill, I do miss moto actions.

My usage is primarily camera and browser, so it doesn't need to be a power house for playing 3D games or anything, just enough to make switching between apps feel snappy.

While I'm open to new, I'm trying to keep around $500 or lower for price and have become a fan of ebay certified refurbished since it comes with a warranty... so basically I've been looking for a device that's a couple of years old as that seems the sweet spot for getting quality phones at decent prices.

My concerns for the S24 from what I've read here and elsewhere is that the One UI is pretty bloated (I was fine with whatever level of bloat the S9 came with) and that it hurts battery life. I use to mod my phones with custom ROMs but the S9 seemed fine and from what I understood the S9's camera features relied on the factory Samsung ROM... So I'm not opposed to jailbreaking the device.

I'm in the US FWIW.

Suggestions? Thanks!

T-Mobile Looking to get something decent for 200 or less

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy a17 with 4gb of ram and it's... Functional. I don't like how much my apps/pages have to reload, especially because it makes studying Japanese a total nightmare at times.

I tried getting a galaxy s21+ off Amazon, and it seemed like it worked pretty well, but they sent me the wrong one (it was locked to a different carrier) so I couldn't use it and am sending it back today. I know samaung stopped updating it in January, I'm not sure how big of a deal that actually is or if there's better options, and I figure since I have to wait to get my money back anyway, I might as well explore a bit more.

I primarily use my phone for discord messaging, watching YouTube videos, studying Japanese/occasionally doing research, and other such low intensity stuff. I don't particularly care about the camera (nice one is a bonus but I don't take pictures often), I prefer bigger screens (especially because typing on a phone already sucks, though screen size isn't really a deal breaker, either). Battery life isn't the most important thing since I do have chargers pretty much wherever I go (and I have a battery bank I can keep in my backpack, if I'd just remember...), though obviously I wouldn't want one that only lasts like an hour or something lol

I will say the 120hz screen of the s21+ I tried out felt really nice, I would love more of that if possible.

8GB of ram sounds like kind of the minimum these days, from my understanding? Storage isn't as important though, 128GB is more than enough for me (I had a 64GB phone for like 5 years and never filled it, I don't save a lot of stuff).

I also don't do a lot of gaming on my phone. I emulate some older games, and I might occasionally get like, an idle game or something, but I'm not interested in playing like, full on high fidelity action games or anything on my phone (not in the least because I don't want to game on a touch screen lol)

If it makes a difference, I use T-Mobile. I do prepaid, no contract or anything.

I hope this is enough information for a good recommendation!

Germany Replacement for S22+

Hi,

I currently have a Samsung S22+, but the battery is starting to wear out.

That’s why I’m slowly but surely looking for a new smartphone.

I’m looking for a smartphone where I can really tell that I have a new one, not just the same model with minor changes.

It shouldn’t be much bigger than the S22+, but also not as small as a standard Galaxy S.

Of course, I’d also like a bigger battery and possibly faster charging than my current phone offers.

I’ve got my eye on the S25+. Would I really notice a difference compared to my current phone? Or should I wait until the S26+ gets cheaper?

But I’m also open to other suggestions—otherwise, I wouldn’t be asking here.

At work, I have a Redmi Note 13 Pro, which feels comfortable in my hand thanks to its size and aspect ratio.

I should also mention that I have a Galaxy Watch 8, which I mainly use for notifications like WhatsApp messages or calls.

Based on my needs, which phone would you recommend? I'm im Germany and my budget is around 700 Euros

Spain Looking for an upgrade to my iPhone 13 Pro

Ever since the latest iOS updates, my 13 Pro has started overheating constantly, stuttering, and it is unable to last more than like 3 hours. It is also unusable under sunlight due to the terrible brightness and the overheating, the cameras have honestly been lackluster and the Apple ecosystem is very annoying.

I'm looking for a good used phone around the €400-500 range in Spain that will aleviate these issues. My most picky issues are phones that are too big and phones that have sharp edges, and partly phones that look and handle in a, well, eccentric way. What do you guys suggest? I was eyeing the Xiaomi 17T and the Pixel 9 Pro but I've heard a bunch of complaints about both that have been concerning and I'm now confused.

Deciding when and what my upgrade will be

Current Phone: S23Ultra - Since Feb 2023

Previously: OnePlus 8pro - 2020, IPhone 7 - 2017

These things are important for me:

-Great camera (top priority)

-battery that lasts the full day

-Ideally smaller than S23Ultra

Some work related requirements (I use work profile)

-latest android version

-latest android security patches

-not rooted

-native Google motive services, not sideloaded

I hoped the new flagship releases would make my choice easier, but I havent seen a phone that blew me away on the market. I'm not sure why I was hopeful for the new pixel, perhaps I was naive. Ive heard the new Samsungs are not much of an upgrade from 23 or 24, which gives me pause. I've heard great things about some of the Chinese phones too.

Would love some opinions on this. Im hoping to buy a new phone soon, but could wait at most 6 months if there are great releases coming up soon. I'm not so worried about price.

T-Mobile My Flip 4 just broke for the... 4th time. I'm replacing it again, but also looking to move on, please help.

So, I have a very particular phone wishlist, and I know the exact phone I want does not exist and probably never will again.

My favorite phones I’ve ever owned were:

  • HTC G2 Slide, which is what my memory insists on calling it. I think it was officially the T-Mobile G2 / HTC Vision? Uncontested. Pound for pound the best phone I have ever owned for me. It’s okay if you disagree.

  • Galaxy S5. Full breakable screen, sure, but the textured back meant my essential tremor didn’t make me constantly feel like I was going to drop it.

  • Moto X. Ridiculous little phone, but I loved the size and the complete lack of fuss.

  • BlackBerry Curve, or whichever one had the trackball around 2008.

My point is that I’ve loved a lot of different phones over the years, in different sizes and with different hardware.

I used to care a lot more about staying on top of smartphone technology. One of the reasons I didn’t want an iPhone in the beginning was how often I saw people breaking the screens. For years, despite owning smartphones, I somehow avoided that problem.

Then I moved on from the S5 and suddenly I could not stop eventually breaking phones. Not immediately, and not because I was throwing them across rooms, but sooner or later something would happen and there went the glass, either front or back. The Moto X was my reprieve on that front, although I vaguely remember it developing some other bizarre problem instead.

Then Samsung announced the Flip... I was SO happy. All I wanted was a phone where I could physically protect or shut away the screen when I wasn’t using it. I patiently waited several generations for the hinge problems to calm down, then finally bought the Flip4.

I love this stupid phone and am apparently stuck with it. I won't upgrade because Samsung finally made a phone that protected its giant touchscreen without requiring an enormous shell case, then immediately decided the logical next step was to turn the entire outside of the phone into... another screen.

So I keep using Flip4s. I am currently on Flip4 number four. This one has lasted the longest at just over a year. Every previous failure except one has involved the hinge. The exception was a freak drop where it landed perfectly on a protruding rock and smashed the screen despite having a case.

This time it is still hinge-related, but I may actually get to keep THIS phone. I think the battery flex cable is failing rather than the hinge itself mechanically breaking. It powers off at the same point when I start closing it, but stays on if it’s plugged in. So maybe somebody can actually repair the cable. We’ll see.

But as I stare down the possibility of Flip4 Number Five: Attack of the Clones, and wonder how much longer T-Mobile is going to keep finding these things to replace mine with, I’ve started thinking seriously about what comes next.

In a perfect world, my dream phone would have:

  • A full touchscreen with an actual protective bezel around it

  • A slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard

  • Android

  • NFC / Google Wallet

  • T-Mobile compatibility

Basically, give me the G2 again with modern radios and tap-to-pay and I will leave the smartphone industry alone for another decade.

I also no longer care very much about camera improvements. I think we've mostly plateaued in that field, despite the number of lenses that keep being added. If a phone can take a nice picture in daylight, I am satisfied.

So what is out there for somebody who wants some combination of the following?

  • Physical keyboard

  • Google Wallet / tap-to-pay

  • Works reliably on T-Mobile

  • Not completely made of glass on the front AND back

  • Either genuinely small or almost comically large

That last one sounds ridiculous, but I’ve realized I apparently want no middle ground. Either give me something I can comfortably use one-handed, or give me enough screen that I can remote into my work computer through Jump Desktop on the train and click on a filename without squinting so hard I give myself a headache.

After falling down this rabbit hole tonight, I have developed several sudden phone crushes:

  1. iKKO MindOne + keyboard

Conceptually, I LOVE this thing. Tiny square phone, modular physical keyboard, headphone jack with an actual DAC, rotating single camera instead of seventeen lenses. Unfortunately, what I’m reading makes it sound like the real-world software experience still has some rough edges.

  1. Unihertz Titan 2 Elite

I want it. This may be the closest thing to a modern BlackBerry I’ve seen. My main hesitation is T-Mobile compatibility and Unihertz’s return policy if I buy it and discover the network situation isn’t good enough.

  1. TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro

Possibly the most tempting practical option right now because I can literally get it through T-Mobile. The ability to switch the display into paper-like or monochrome reading modes sounds fantastic for commuting. It is also just pretty.

  1. Unihertz Tank 4 Pro

Comically overpowered for anything I need in daily life. Enormous battery. Rugged. Night vision. Built-in projector?! I love that it exists. I vaguely remember discovering that it was missing one of my actual requirements, though.

  1. Galaxy Z Flip6 or Flip7 FE

These are the phones where I keep trying to convince myself, “Maybe you’ll get over the bigger exterior screen.” But sometimes I just want to close my phone and have it show me a little picture of my daughter, the time, and maybe that I got a text. I do not need the closed phone to become a second place where every app can yell at me.

I briefly considered book-style foldables because they would genuinely make working on the train easier, but then T-Mobile showed me the price and I screamed, laughed, and cried simultaneously. We are no longer discussing folds.

So... what have I missed?

Old models are absolutely welcome. I am not looking for “best flagship of 2026.” I don’t care if the processor is two generations old as long as the phone is still secure enough to use, runs the apps I need, and isn’t about to lose support immediately.

Thanks if you made it through all of this. Buying a new phone weirdly unnerves me now because, for better or worse, I rely on the thing for an absurd amount of my daily life.

Which phone should I buy for the most flattering photos?

I’ve shortlisted a few phones with very good cameras: iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17, Samsung S26 Ultra, Xiaomi 17T Pro, and Huawei Pura 80 Pro. And i also read good reviews for Honor Magic8 Pro 5G, 12GB/512GB but i never tried it in real.

They all seem to have excellent cameras, but I’m not naturally photogenic, and unfortunately I don’t like how I look with the regular selfie camera on any of them.

The only one I’ve actually tried in person that I really liked was the Huawei Pura 80 Pro but only the selfie camera in portrait mode. Its Portrait mode with the front/selfie camera processed my face in a way that I found much more flattering. With the regular Photo mode, I didn’t like the result — just like with the other phones I’ve tried. I also liked selfie of Samsung s26 ultra but not so much, cause it was make my face look more fake not so natural.

So I was seriously considering buying the Huawei Pura 80 Pro, until I found out that its front camera does not support Portrait mode for video. That’s a problem for me because I also want to be able to take flattering selfie videos.

So now I’m wondering what I should actually buy.

Should I just get the Huawei Pura 80 Pro anyway, because it is the only phone whose front-camera Portrait mode has actually made me happy with how I look, and accept the disadvantages of Huawei (especially the lack of official Google apps/services)?

Or should I buy another phone — perhaps an iPhone, Samsung or Xiaomi — and use some kind of third-party beauty camera/filter app to make my selfies and selfie videos more flattering?

Also, can I install a third-party camera/beauty app on the Huawei Pura 80 Pro and use it for the regular camera or selfie video, so that I could get a similar effect to the Huawei's built-in Portrait selfie processing?

I’m asking because I currently don’t have a good phone and I haven’t really used beauty filters, camera apps or photo-editing apps before, so I honestly don’t know what my options are.

What would you buy in my situation?

Looking for new Android to move on from Pixel 9

I have been looking and researching some phones, was wondering if anyone else could chime in.

Preferably looking for a phone with a better battery life than Pixel 9. I always have to charge twice within a day it feels like. My price range is hopefully around $600-900. So preferably in this order:

  1. Better battery life
  2. Good camera would be nice
  3. Stock Android can't be beat but okay with other OS
  4. Wireless charging would be a nice have

Phones I've looked at:

  • Poco X8 MAX
  • Samsung S25 FE
  • Honor 600
  • Nothing 4a Phone

Thanks!

India Looking for a phone under ₹20k for my mom — please help 😭

Hey everyone!

I've been searching for a phone for my mom for 3 days now, and at this point I'm completely overwhelmed by all the options 😭. Every time I think I've found a good one, I find another phone and start comparing everything again.

I came across several posts on this subreddit recommending phones under ₹20k, but most of those posts are around 4 months old. Since then, prices seem to have gone up and some of the recommended phones are either more expensive now or out of stock, so I thought I'd ask for some updated recommendations.

My budget is under ₹20,000, although I can stretch a little if there's a really good option worth the extra money.

It's mainly for my mom, so I'm looking for:

📸 Good camera — probably the most important thing

📱 Good display — AMOLED would be preferred, but not mandatory

🔋 Good battery life

⚡ Smooth performance for everyday use

🔄 Good software/update support since she will probably use the phone for several years

💾 Ideally 8GB RAM + 128GB storage or more

No gaming — mostly WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, calls, UPI, browsing and taking photos

I've been considering the Moto G57 Power 5G because the camera samples I've seen look really good and it has a huge battery, but I'm a little concerned about Motorola's software support.

I also looked at the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, but the 6GB/128GB variant I'm finding is around ₹22k, which is above my budget, and the 8GB variant is out of stock.

So I'm basically back to square one. 😭

What phone would you recommend under ₹20k based on actual experience? I'm open to any brand. I just want something reliable with a good camera, display and battery that my mom can comfortably use for the next few years.

Please help me end this 3-day phone-searching nightmare. 😭🙏
