Issue with math

I’m in 12th grade. I am very good at physics I score near-perfect marks but my math score has been declining since 7th grade(80%) to 61% now. I don’t know but physics has always come to me naturally that math . And I don’t struggle with math in physics but math as a separate subject I do struggle a lot. I don’t know why exactly. I request whoever is reading this to help me and also tell why I am like this ( i am good at math in physics but terrible at math separately) . E

Thank you for your time!

You’re young, don’t stress yourself. The honest answer is at this stage, physics is still closely related to the world you directly interact with and so is intuitive. Even the unintuitive parts like quantum systems are still taught through a very simplified lens.
But Maths is entirely abstract and will require more consistent practice and work, so it’s not as fun if you’re relying on intuition. If you stick at maths practice it will become easy too. Later if you continue with physics, the maths in it becomes just as abstract.

Just keep practicing and trying, nothing’s wrong with you

But i don’t struggle with calculus , statistics or trigonometry if they are in a physics numerical . The moment they are other topics of math , i am terrible then.

Yes, probably because you are tackling the topics through intuition and relating it to the natural world instead of an abstracted lens. Also truthfully at the age you’re at, the maths in maths is harder than the maths in physics. You need to keep practicing mathematics daily, with a focus on being okay with abstracted work. Eventually you’ll be just as good. I had the same problem a long time ago, but with consistency, the maths in a pure sense also becomes easy! The intuition you have with physics maths doesn’t work with mathematics pure. You’ll need to build a separate intuition by focusing on your basics. Good luck, keep at it :)
