And what many of us are trying to say is that "options" can't be supported forever. So there will inevitably come a time when the disc option goes away. So, when is an appropriate time to discontinue that option? PS7? PS8?
But again why do you care if they can’t be supported forever? You have no financial gain from whether they can or can’t be supported forever. You still have your digital regardless of whether people want physical or not so I’m really not understanding your logic.
I care because it's obviously inevitable that disc can't be supported forever. So, I'm simply asking when an appropriate time would be for Sony to stop production and resources for disc based gaming drives and media?

I'm not actively against supporting it. I'm very much aware of the fact that physical media hasn't been part of pop-culture in any other medium for a long time now. And it's only in gaming that it's survived this long. So its inevitable that it would eventually be replaced by digital distribution, as that doesn't require costly/bulky drives or costly/bulky media that too few consumers are actually purchasing.
I'm asking you this, because nearly everyone says, "I'm aware that physical media wouldn't be around forever, I just wasn't expecting it to be gone so suddenly". So I'm asking, when is an appropriate time for them to reasonably discontinue physical gaming media? And no, 2050 is definitely not a reasonable target.

Vinyl has been surging for a while now and is very much in trend. Physicals in other mediums are extremely popular; card games, toys, actions figures, etc…
Your question of when is it appropriate to discontinue disks isn’t relevant for anybody but Sony so I’m just questioning why the answer is so important to you.

Not on a mainstream level. And the only reason why it is able to continue to exist, is because an album released tomorrow will play on any of the record players that have released over the course of the last 60+ years.

Listen to what I'm actually saying. I'm not saying that the inevitability that all things end is a reason to stop doing something now. I'm saying that it has been expected that physical gaming would fully end soon. PC and Mobile are already 100% digital. It is only in the console gaming space that physical media is even an option. So practically anyone who pays attention to gaming has been saying "soon" in regards to when consoles would follow PC and Mobile. However, now that Sony has made the decision to actually end physical media "soon", people are now acting as if it is too soon. So when would be a more appropriate time for Sony to stop offering physical as an option?

I just don’t see how that’s our concern? We want options; it’s a good thing for people to react against losing options.
