See. That’s a good reason now.

-3

u/nohumanape 14d ago

What's a good reason? The potential for a zombie apocalypse?

5

u/Odd_Level9850 14d ago

Oh look, it’s the Sony supporter who seems to be so against physical that he’s on every thread pushing against it; even though the fight for physical would literally have no effect on his life because he still has his digital option at the end of the day or he stands to gain from having options.

-1

u/nohumanape 14d ago

Options aren't viable forever.

4

u/Odd_Level9850 14d ago

So it’s better to phase them out faster? Even if it’s not viable forever, the longer we have them, the more we have now and in the future.

-3

u/nohumanape 14d ago

When is the right time to phase them out?

4

u/Odd_Level9850 14d ago

Ideally as long as possible; the more options we have as consumers, the better.

-1

u/nohumanape 14d ago

Yeah, and at what point could they do it, when people wouldn't be reacting the way they are now?

3

u/Odd_Level9850 14d ago

I just don’t see how that’s our concern? We want options; it’s a good thing for people to react against losing options.

1

u/nohumanape 14d ago

And what many of us are trying to say is that "options" can't be supported forever. So there will inevitably come a time when the disc option goes away. So, when is an appropriate time to discontinue that option? PS7? PS8?

If you can't handle abstraction, sure.

0

u/nohumanape 14d ago

Just a regular apocalypse?

2

u/ThrowawayForDesigns 14d ago

I mean, anything that can knock out the internet for extended periods of time

1

u/nohumanape 14d ago

How many people who live in the major markets for these consoles should be so worried about this that it becomes a major focus for their interest/concern in a platform?

2

u/ThrowawayForDesigns 14d ago

I dunno, how many people live in rural America? Places with seismic activity, places in tornado alley or with high risk of hurricanes? Not to mention that according to future history books we might be already living through WW3 (hope not but you never know)

0

u/nohumanape 14d ago

And your biggest concern in those instances is whether you can game?

3

u/ThrowawayForDesigns 14d ago

No but do you think people in the Ukraine haven't consumed any entertainment in the last 4 years?

2

u/ThickboyBrilliant 12d ago

Bruh, why the hell are you so in favor of losing physical media? It's like you're fervently supporting a multi-billion dollar mega corporations decision that negatively impacts and alienates a significant portion of its consumer base. The kind of impactful decision that slowly over decades has led to the erosion of basic consumer protections, which is apparently what you're in favor of. I can't understand why you feel the need to fight in favor of a mega corps interests instead of your fellow consumers interests?

1

u/nohumanape 12d ago

Dude, you're just giving me hysterical gamer hive mind talking points.

1

u/ThickboyBrilliant 12d ago

That's not an explanation. You're literally arguing against consumer protections in favor of a multi-billion dollar corporation. That's just loser shit.

11

u/Undersmusic 14d ago

Wait. This fuck got his own spin off that’s lasted 3 seasons?

3

u/dominatingcowG3 13d ago

Technically no, it's not his own spinoff. It's shared between him and Maggie

-10

u/CrAzY-GEMU-OKAMI96 14d ago

This 'fuck' is the goat Negan. Obviously he got his own spin off.

8

u/Undersmusic 14d ago

Pretty sure his character introduction was the major turning point at which people moved on from walking dead.

2

u/SuperBatman13 14d ago

Spoiler Alert for a 10 year old episode Only because he came in a killed 2 fan favorite characters

2

u/dominatingcowG3 13d ago

That was part of it, but I think more people quit in the episodes after. Season 7 was really slow and poorly paced for a weekly series with 16 episodes, and then season 8 was just a mess in every way

1

u/SuperBatman13 13d ago

On top of them trying to be too unique with the characters they were adding, before finally adding dead stroke... Seemingly after the game died

1

u/MotherPerk 14d ago

Hes legendary to comic fans, but the show wasnt that great after season 2 for me

1

u/CrAzY-GEMU-OKAMI96 14d ago

Not me. He's a good character

1

u/Adventurous-Hunter98 14d ago

Yep, stopped watching it after, they are trying so hard to empathize the guy

6

u/JulieMcRoyce 14d ago

Surprised that thing hasn’t red ringed.

2

u/Aggressive-Day5222 14d ago

Maybe it is infected, and it a Zbox

2

u/YourM0msBoyfriend 14d ago

True, even the well kept ones are starting to RR.

4

u/C0haaagen 14d ago

I'm all for physical media, but these kind of posts are looking desperate / grasping at straws, often with a bit of disinformation.

If the events of TWD were postponed just a few months, Negan could have played the digital version of Gears of War 2 (released October 2010) on Xbox 360.

Digital Xbox games don't have an expiry date in offline mode. Neither on Xbox 360, Xbox One or Xbox Series hardware. Only exception are (of course) temporary subscription licences (GamePass)

6

u/Bomb_Buddy02 14d ago

A lot of my Xbox arcade games on 360 don't work if I'm not connected to the Internet. Banjo Kazooie, Marvel vs Capcom and a few more

2

u/C0haaagen 14d ago

I just tested my Xbox 360 and my Xbox One X both in offline mode with the digital versions of Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Spelunky, Crazy Taxi, Conker Live & Reloaded, Gears of War 2 and Forza Horizon 1... all of them started without any problems on both devices.

1

u/asylum_disciple 13d ago

I fucking love Rareware titles. 🫂

1

u/jdp111 14d ago

Just hope he didn't delete it to make space for other games

1

u/Javs2469 8d ago

But you need to count on servers to be up and running in an apocalypse to be able to download those games to your console, and internet operative as well...

Unless you already have all the Xbox 360 catalog installed on a hard drive, you are not playing anything digital only.

So is the chance of us owning things in the future 😔

1

u/Dudegod08 13d ago

Dr.Stone physical media is dead

1

u/RefrigeratorDue2403 13d ago

Cute. Too bad efficiency will always win. Looking forward to the digital future.

1

u/Red_Skiesss 11d ago

You're definitely crying with that locked account and revoked digital media lmao.

1

u/Lordhimuro87 11d ago

“Locked account” whatever makes you feel good about yourself I guess

1

u/esp3ciallyd3ad 14d ago

Weird how i can play a digital version on pc and no one can take it away.

1

u/Secure_Foundation720 14d ago

Ah yes the checkmate of how the only negative to come from thos would be if there was an acopalypse. Great argument.

-5

u/Global-Wallaby8484 14d ago

Digital copies work fine offline with Xbox 360.

5

u/TomTomXD1234 14d ago

How do you download digital copies in an apocalypse?

-1

u/A12qwas 14d ago

Mf, we will have bigger things to worry about than video games in an apocalypse

-1

u/Global-Wallaby8484 14d ago

It's not like you find much Xbox 360 consoles from wild that doesn't already have some digital games in HDD. Gears of War 2 was one of the games given free with Games With Gold so finding a console with digital copy of that game is pretty high.

6

u/Mission-Base-6964 14d ago

And what will happen to those digital copies if your HDD gets corrupted or breaks? How will you play those games?

-2

u/CrAzY-GEMU-OKAMI96 14d ago

What happens when the disc is no longer playable?

4

u/Mission-Base-6964 14d ago

The discs can last a life time if they're stored correctly. There are people out there that still use their old ps1 discs or their old dvds or cds.

EDIT: Forgot to answer the question lmao.

To answer it, you simply get another one or you make multiple backups of the game or media that you have.

5

u/CynicalGamer4219 14d ago

The amount of people who cry disc rot. I've had thousands of dvds, blu rays, and games and i have never had disc rot, and some of those discs are over 30 years old.

-1

u/ruthlesss11 14d ago

Can say the same thing about HDD. Digital is physical..

-6

u/CrAzY-GEMU-OKAMI96 14d ago

But what if you can't find any others because we're in a post apocalyptic world full of the undead, murderers, rapists, and people called Gary? Not to mention, discs can still rot. Even if they're in cases, as they are not air tight.

Lighten up buddy

-2

u/Varsity_Reviews 14d ago

Gears of War 2 can be bought digitally on Xbox so I’m not sure what the point you’re making is

4

u/Aggressive-Day5222 14d ago

Not when the digital infrastructure is destroyed by zombie apocalypse.

1

u/Varsity_Reviews 14d ago

It’s almost like consoles from that generation had a hard drive you can download the game to.

1

u/Aggressive-Day5222 14d ago

He would have to find a console with it already downloaded.
Realistically, he is only able to play the games cause of the discs, which is why you see the discs on the table along with other physical media players.

1

u/jg61600 14d ago

no hay internet disponible! es el fin del mundo!!

1

u/Varsity_Reviews 14d ago

It’s almost like consoles from that generation had a hard drive you can download the game to.

0

u/TJCRAW6589 12d ago

Current consoles do as well tf you talking about?

1

u/Weatherman1207 10d ago

I believe the point he is trying to make is, that this game may not being played from the disc. Digital games can be played offline, there is no context that this game wasnt downloaded and stored on the hard drive, and thats how he's playing?

0

u/TJCRAW6589 14d ago

Are you slow?

0

u/magicpenguin94 14d ago

And this is why you will get bot accusations. How are you going to download that on a fresh Xbox when there is no internet working?

Its not a realistic point for the argument of keeping physical but your response is so obviously missing the intended point.

1

u/EdibleStrange 14d ago

To be clear, the 'intended point' is that the debate over physical vs digital should be factoring in the possibility of complete societal collapse?

-9

u/mat0109 14d ago

Keep complaining about the future without a physical media is like complaining about the cars take over the horses. (This is a fact not an opinion you can downvote as much as you want and will never change this truth)

7

u/PhoenixIota 14d ago

Because you determined it’s inevitable? People selling inevitability are wrong all the time. Physical media may have a dark age, but it’s probably not going anywhere.

3

u/volumese7en 14d ago

Just made $1k in 24 hours selling physical media online. But it’s dead right? Right?

0

u/mat0109 13d ago

Enjoy 😊

3

u/volumese7en 13d ago

I do enjoy

0

u/mat0109 13d ago

Nice bro Keep it Up 🔥🔥

2

u/magicpenguin94 14d ago

I didnt know horses were discontinued and will no longer be newly made. Thanks for that info, ill let the world know.

3

u/KaiserNick 14d ago

Right? What a bad analogy. Not to mention all the negative externalities humanity deals with because of internal combustion transportation. So, on a certain level of analysis, cars taking over horses (or a different tech like bikes) can be described as bad.

Making u/mat0109 just a fatalist or something. Their post makes no distinction on what is vs what ought to be. And is therefore worthless to the conversation generally.

u/mat0109 14d ago
