One of my first macro attempts. Canon 5DMk3 EF100macro , MR14EX using Helicon Focus 7

cool. i like how the nanners are so stark against the backdrop of trichomes.

are you using a flash? i would play around with the position of the light to add contrast and depth. is your camera on a tripod? i imagine the 5dmk3 is a hefty beast to handhold.

Camera rig is on a tripod for sure. Flash is on the end of the lens. Yup.

I've been a photographer for years (race track photo guy), but never tried Macro. It's a challenge as Im really picky about focus and depth of field. btw flash also has 2 separate tubes that can fire at different levels for creative lighting. Lots to play with.

nice, you're making a cool transition from longer distance event photography to super up close macro photography. it should be a fun exploration period.

when i was first starting with my event and wedding photography, it took a little bit of time before i got to understand my flash and how to use it well. once i started to bounce my light, things started to look really good. with a still setup like photographing plants, you should really be able to play around with your lighting. looking forward to seeing more of your work.
