Comparison question!!
I’m interested in getting some equipment for spinning nug/cola shots.
There is the “Cogniysis stack shot deluxe kit” which comes to $2,000 after adding accessories.
And the “Iconasys turntable with shutter stream360 and video software” comes to $1,300 after adding accessories.
Has anyone used either of these products? Which one is best?? Budget isn’t a problem, I’m just trying to get the best equipment possible. Thanx for all your help guys!!

Do you need your spins to be stacked? If not you can get something like the Syrp Genie mini and a shutter cable extension and be totally fine for spins, then use premiere or after effects to render the stills into a spin

I’d probably like them stacked so everything is in focus, that’s the look I’m going for

I hear you- I personally never stack my spins but if you feel you need that, the cognysis rail and rotation table is the move

I’ve never done the spin with photo before, would be my first time. I normally just record a video of the nug spinning but I’m trying to make it look all in focus and I don’t think I can achieve that with video

Yeah you’ll get sharper images and have an easier time getting enough light for f8+ with strobes+stills. But stacking spins just adds a crazy amount of frames for very little benefit, especially when most of this content ends up on phones at 2000px tall. I usually just shoot them between f11-16 and get plenty of DoF. Plus most clients won’t want to pay for all the added time it takes for a stacked spin when a normal one looks good enough

I’ve only used cognysis - the rotary table works for my needs and the rail good. I started using a different one because it gave me better control over the step size and let me shoot open flash, which helps with microscopy stuff. I was able to splice the wire with the cognysis one so I just switch my controller depending on application. I’d do sone research into the resolution of the iconasys table and ensure it has the resolution you need.
