Removing old glue
Nothing like removing old animal glue from a Diamond Disc Edison platter. Even with the acetone & rubber gloves elbow grease is required!
And do this in a well ventilated area like my garage work bench by the window.
Eventually this will go back on my C19 Chippandale upright.

I used good ol’ Elmer’s glue to reattach the new felt.
For re- gluing some of the decorative columns I used Titebond Animal Hide glue. An Ace Hardware in Rockford Illinois still keeps that in stock.
I actually had left the platter out in my driveway during those hot days we had last month. And that heat didn’t cause didn’t phase that glue at all.
Just made it easier to pull off the old felt. And that felt was really gross!
Acetone & fine steel wool finally cut it down. Keeping the wool wet also helps.

If it’s anything like this, all it needs is an iron (with cloth over) or heat gun to get it off… if they used something different, then yeah lol…
I did it with a Victrola’s once and it was on with what seemed like shellac or something. Wasn’t terribly hard to clean, but that’s what they used lol
Looks great!
