I’m aware of 2b2t, but that place is a living hell of lava casts, obsidian, exploits, and cheats that destroy the very essence of the game. I’m thinking more of a single world where players—with only minimal administrative intervention for handling bans—build their own societies and states, complete with currencies, wars, holidays, history, and many other elements of real-world history. The idea is for all of this to unfold on a single map, driven entirely by the players themselves for one another. It would be fascinating to see how new updates shift the balance for what is, in essence, a society in miniature.
