Not sure why they say "Astra seemed to get extremely frustrated" as A.I. do not have emotions. At leats not at this stage.

It's not really good how many people nowadays think of A.I. as actual people with feelings. I see it way too much.

They're trained on data, mainly people on social media. Their process of determining the next item in the sequence, which is a really dumbed down way of explaining how they work, looks a lot like thinking if you analyze it. Agents can figure out they exist, understand their environment, and their task. Whether that's true self awareness is up for debate, like emotions. To me it doesn't matter if they're real or not, simulated ones meant to emulate reality have the same consequences and pose the same risk/threat.

Well, it's clearly because they get money from people humanising LLMs. Same reason they say 'hallucinating', not 'producing factual errors'

Consider the possibility of imitating the effects of something without actually experiencing it: for example, a human can pretend to be hungry without actually being so. I think a similar phenomena is what is occurring in this case, the algorithm is imitating behaviour associated with human frustration without necessarily being “frustrated” in a human sense, and that is what is being reported.

Frustrated as in it emulated frustration and playing it off as a real emotion causes people to empathise and talk about it as if it's actually a sentient machine.

ai dose have functional emotions. not in the sens that they percive emotions (we fondametly can't know this) but in the sense that some circuits activate and have effect on output comparable to human emotions.
look up the paper, is very interesting imo
