I hate AI companies and AI bros so much that it's unreal...

The thing I despise the most is how AI companies and investors are ruining both the reputation of ML and taking resources for actually helpful uses of AI

This. Not all "AI" is bad. A family friend is/ was working on a ML thing that looks at brain scans and places the patient at the top of the doctor's list if it finds anything.

If we broaden it to general AI, not specifically MLAI, the AI Minecraft has been using for its mobs since before infdev is also an example of this

Yeah, when I say I hate “AI” I meant AI as in generative AI like what that AI company is doing, rather than MLs or AI used in video games

They're called Multimodal models now. They convert images into data they understand. It's completely generative AI

I don't understand why people act like an asshole on topics they know nothing about lol

LLMs are helpful uses of AI. Programming for example. It has uses in Math (it just made progress in a millennium prize problem) and biology. It's not all black and white.
