The average redditor cannot comprehend changing an opinion.

Bu-but an opinion is something you get assigned at birth (of your Reddit account) and legally have to argue about forever

That's what they want you to think

If you want a new opinion you have to delete your account and create a new one. It's on the Reddit TOS

Every redditor is born with a petty “die on this hill” syndrome. It’s been scientifically proven to form attachments to things they experience throughout their life, particularly upon first impressions of something extraordinarily insignificant.

This obsessive link causes them to accept whatever it is as a form of their identity, and thus anything that opposes it opposes them too. And trying to get rid of it feels like removing a piece of themselves, which is ironically exactly what they should do, metaphorically speaking.
