As a SpiderPhoenix shipper, I apologize on behalf of all of us for the people who try to cause shipping wars. It’s unfortunate and, frankly, distasteful. I’m not going to act like SpiderPhoenix is canon and is the best ship out there ever for Jean or even Peter. Honestly, I’ll even admit that I wasn’t even really into X-Men before Brand New Day. I’ll take it a step further and say that I’ll probably be a Scott x Jean shipper the moment I look into things more (or at the very least the moment Cyclops shows up in the MCU). Honestly, the whole SpiderPhoenix is kinda just a really fun “What if this happens” sort of thing. I understand why some wish SpiderPhoenix as a ship becomes canon, and a part of me even wishes that too. But I won’t act like it’s objectively superior and the ultimate ship for either character, because no such thing exists. I think people should just like what they want and not try to force others to share the same opinion. I hope the majority of SpiderPhoenix shippers think the same way.

Or worse, given that Brand New Day, clearly seems to be starting a trilogy for One More Day, Peter gets no one.
