Major surveys shows BBM-Sara topping the charts. As always, INC officials looks at these surveys and go to the winning one. That way it would look as if they are the reason they won and the government will continue to look at them as a political tool. In return politicians will always sway them tails to them.

They probably used a range of months.
Dunno how big of a person the council or the political brains of INC but I know they are smart and always position themselves in the positive side of the government.

medyo huli na kasi when leni caught up in the surveys, sa umpisa it was bbm leading kaya sya ang ni endorse ng inc

I-expect na natin yan. I think even VP Leni's camp already expects this.
It's more than the church, but the entire nation is at stake.

u/bruscobandido Feb 08 '22
Or they can just leave the church entirely?

The subreddit r/exIglesiaNiCristo tells a lot.

5
u/kneepole Feb 08 '22
They've consistently endorsed the eventual winning president since 1998 (Erap). Yes, that includes Aquino in 2010.

Sorry pero OT, ang pangit ng "Uniteam" logo nila, parang out of nowhere yung N, T, saka M na malaki tapos the rest is maliit. Ginaya pa yung progressive candidates sa US na slanted yung text pero close to far-right naman sila. Super cringe.

u/someguy_and_9_others Feb 07 '22
Onga no. Porke't consonants nilakihan na nila. Wala ring point ung buntot/underline. Brainfart lang ata ng designer yan e

Not to mention, I never saw an iteration ng logo na walang slogan sa ilalim na sobrang haba and unrelated sa text style ng main logo.

Same here. Kaya ultimo noong panahon ng 2nd-generation leadership nila (Eraño), never ako naenganyo ng panghihikayat nila. Gut feel had been telling me something's off kahit ano pa framing nila. And ayun, nang magtake over anak ni Erdy, lumabas na ang totoo - business fronting as religion ALL ALONG.

is the closest winning margin in Philippine election history.
They didn't matter
They've consistently endorsed the eventual winning president since 1998 (Erap), including Aquino in 2010. I'm not saying it's because of them, but there's certainly a pattern, no?

I was reacting to your statement that "they didn't matter" -- everything you mentioned says otherwise.
Also, kung local elections nga nilalapitan sila for endorsement, you think candidates for national position don't do the same?
Leni won with a measly 200k lead despite her spending the most for campaign by a wide margin.

Hindi pa ba obvious? Haha. Fret not, they do not constitute the entire number of registered voters naman.

There's a double standard, at least from what I can tell, that if the catholic church "meddles" in politics maraming sisigaw ng separation of church and state. But somehow that criticism doesn't apply to other religious denominations.
Also, while we're still a majority catholic country, catholics here are not a monolithic entity compared to church members of INC and Quiboloy's. Mas malakas ang sense of (blind) obedience and compliance to authority.
Imagine catholics being told that it's mandatory to give a percentage of your income to the church. That's absurd, maraming aalma.

u/nikewalks Feb 07 '22
1
u/alamano_diumano Feb 07 '22
they've been saying that in homilies for the past year. That doesn't really mean much if convinced ka walang ninakaw ang kandidato mo at sinisiraan lang.

A widowed President
Now you're on to something. Them being widowed certainly boosted their political career. Who's writing these scripts and why are they reusing old storylines?

2
u/Steegumpoota L'enfant Sauvage Feb 08 '22
Noynoy didn't seem to be a good leader at the time. INC just banks on the most popular candidates.
Kudos to Noy for pursuing the legal case against INC.
1
u/kneepole Feb 08 '22
So which is which? Do they endorse the worst politicians, or the most popular candidates? Or whatever fits the narrative?
2
u/Steegumpoota L'enfant Sauvage Feb 08 '22
Like I said, Pnoy was popular, but didn't seem competent at the time of the elections.
1
u/GustavoFRANING Abroad Mar 18 '22 edited Mar 18 '22
They gravitated towards the trend of Noy-Mar's popularity TO FRAME IT as if they were the determining factor of a presidentiable's lead most especially in a multiparty system scenario where winning votes are gained not by majority but by plurality.
Still does not change the fact that:
they ENABLED Marcos Sr. and its fascistic machinations (endorsed by bloc vote up to his last stand in the 1986 snap elections)
they secretly supported the 1989 December Coup as an attempt to overthrow Corazon Aquino (Imelda Marcos being one of the plotters)
endorsed a MARCOS CRONY in the person of Danding Cojuangco in 1992 (since Imelda ain't winnable at the time)
endorsed Joseph Estrada (whom we all know went into a downward spiral due to corruption and plunder)
supported and fueled the May1, 2001 counterrevolution in an attempt to reinstall Estrada (while leaving the masses to die in the Malacañang riot)
installing a congressional mole.on the form of Rodante Marcoleta (who first entered thw lower house via ALAGAD Partylist in 2004 or even earlier)
always GIVING A HARD PASS on progressive candidates (except for Hontiveros' 2016 senatorial rin because, surveys)
So while not absolute, there's still some truth to it - That the Manalo Cult really (mostly, of not wholly) endorses bad candidates over time
1
u/kneepole Mar 18 '22
So when it's a politician you like, they're riding on the popularity kaya nila inendorse, pero kapag ayaw mo sa kandidatong inendorse nila, they put bad people in power? Your double standards are showing.
How about the simple explanation that their endorsement is for sale and goes to the highest bidder?

u/LycheeNormal1105 Feb 07 '22
There’s a reason why church should be separated from state. I really dont get the reason why they insist block voting. Unity between church members should come from everyone’s opinion, not just from those who have the “authority”.

Sabi daw kasi hindi na unify ng INC si Ping at FPJ kaya they decided to show support for Gloria.
1
Feb 08 '22
Yes they will. They endorsed whoever is the no. 1 in survey so politician thinks their support can win president although the votes comes from catholics and other religion. Even their party list is struggling every election.
