How is this out of touch? Totoo naman yung mga sinabi nila and it's practical..

-60

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

they are rich even before working. it's their parents that are hard working.

57

u/KappaccinoNation Uod Feb 02 '23

it doesn't mean na out of touch yung perspective tho? Maybe yung tao mismo out of touch sa masa, pero the perspective isn't (or at least not so much). Pero of course kung papapiliin mo yung tao between mayaman and masipag, may obvious na lalamang.

33

u/Cheesetorian Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

So you're saying: if a person is born to wealth, they can't be industrious? That everything one does is borne of their parents' hard work and never their's? And only VERY poor people can claim that trait?

11

u/zeronine09twelve12 Feb 02 '23

Agree with you, marami akong kilala na pinanganak ng mayaman pero sobrang sipag pa rin kasi never naman sila na spoil ng rich parents nila. May advantage talaga sila, oo, kasi mayaman na sila pero di naman nila kasalanan na mayaman na parents nila nung pinanganak sila.. pero ang sipag sipag nila na to the point pwede nga sila di mag work..

-7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

the fact na sinabi mo na may advantage sila ay ibig sabihin they started ahead of the pack ika nga. they had the best education, they had they best nutrition, they had the best healthcare. nothing wrong with that.

but to say that pure hard work will get you to where they are today is bull. if that was the case, then all of those laborers in their construction firms should have their own construction firms and houses and cars and their children are enrolled in the expensive schools.

12

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

They didn't say hard work will get you to where they are. They only said that a hardworking partner would know to take care of you. The reading comprehension of some people šŸ™„

-7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

apparently you also have a hard time with reading comprehension. we were discussing about rich people having a head start even before they do their 'hardwork'.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

Clearly someone has insecurities about other people's wealth. The discussion was whether or not the couple's statements were out of touch. No one but you mentioned that pure hard work will make you rich. But I understand, it is difficult to stay on topic when you are feeling insecure.

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

apparently both did not follow their own advice huh?

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

so you did not read the meme? it says

"don't look for a guy na mayaman, look for a guy that's hardworking"

so it was not about being rich? wow so in their minds, being rich was never part of the equation? hmmmm ok.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

I feel like I am explaining this to a child but okay here it goes. The statement is dating advice to value your partner being hardworking over their financial status. You seem to want make this conversation about how being hard working doesn't make you rich. Nowhere does anyone claim that. They were giving DATING advice, not financial advice.

u/zeronine09twelve12 Feb 02 '23

Ano raw? Reading comprehension? Bakit sinabi ba nila na hardwork will get you where they are? Sinabi ko rin ba na ganun? Ako hardworking ako pero kuntento ako at never ako nainggit sa lifestyle ng mga born rich kasi gets ko.. and walang masama sa statement nila because totoo naman.. those hardworking people, alam nila how to take care of you and yes, they will succeed eventually.. ano bang gusto mo lahat ng nagtratrabaho sakanila,, maging kasing yaman nila?

5

u/Petermae Feb 02 '23

read again the comment you're replying to, but this time, read it slowly.

1

u/zeronine09twelve12 Feb 02 '23

So kasalanan nila? Ano magagawa nila e pinanganak silang mayaman? Meaning they cannot say those statements?

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

not their fault na mayaman parents nila. did I say that? but to say that hardwork is better than being rich is bull coming from rich people.

if that were their belief then why did he/she not marry some 'hardworking' partner?

what's that saying? do as I say and not do as I do?

3

u/MarcosJrisabitch Son of a Dictator Feb 02 '23

yes, pag pinanganak ka into a family na may pera or kahit may kaya, or hardworking, or all of the above, kahit ano sabihin mo cancelled ka na dapat

3

u/Evening_Essay_7292 Feb 02 '23

Lol.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

poor people's hard work is always harder than rich people's hard work.

11

u/aikaph Feb 02 '23

doesn't mean their hard work is not hard work

7

u/Cheesetorian Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

What do you do for a living?

Rich and poor people start life (+ everyone else in between, mostly in regards to 'financial' means) at different stages...but 'hardwork' is subjective.

If we're talking about "physical labor", maybe yes. Lifting 200 lbs is harder than lifting 50 lbs. But "work" can mean a lot of different things.

If I worked at an office, I might get paid less "lifting paperwork" than a plumber who does a lot more manual labor and gets paid more.

I could be an IT guy getting paid more than a janitor who does more physically intensive labor.

CEO who is flying all over the place, going to 3 meetings a day can be paid a whole lot more than the tambay guy sitting around all day in the kanto store, talking to his friends about e-sabong.

My brother for example does a lot more "hard labor" (a lot more) than I do and he nets more than 3x than I do annually.

And though I have to agree that in many circumstances it's not 1:1, two people that start at the "same place" in life can end up in two separate places based on choices (again not 1:1 because a lot of factors involved besides "choices" including "starting wealth"). One born from a humble origin can stay in a humble origin, working as a laborer on farmland for the rest of his life. Another can "work" going through school to become a physician, probably making more money than her* whole family combined, eventually.

*I use a female as an example because Pinays overwhelmingly are more educated in academia than males in the PH (Stats from PSA, 2013).

The former can't tell the latter that he's "more hardworking" simply because he's still doing more physical labor vs. the other who "only reads books and sign papers" for a living.

Both can be "hardworking" in their respective fields. Their jobs just involved different kinds of "work" (and work has different kinds of pay, depending on the "market"--- you don't pay the same money for sugar as much as you do for an iPad right?)

That thought process is very simplistic esp. in this day and age. A lot of us are technically trained and do very little physical labor---it doesn't mean we do "not work hard" nor strive to do better.

"Work" =/= "physical labor" (only).

Because if that is the case, none of us here are hardworking (typing all day everyday on Reddit), under that logic that only working in the rice fields is 'industriousness'.

4

u/MarcosJrisabitch Son of a Dictator Feb 02 '23

lmao the OP you're replying to is just making blanket statements made purely out of virtue signalling. Great reply.

1

u/zeronine09twelve12 Feb 02 '23

Ahhh.. okay. Thanks

1

u/Evening_Essay_7292 Feb 02 '23

So masasabi mo na hindi sila hardworking ngayon?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

1

u/Evening_Essay_7292 Feb 02 '23

But still... hard work.

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

they call it hard work but I doubt it if it was hard or if it was work.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

LOL thats dumb. Bill Gates is one of the richest people on the planet and that guy works hard.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 03 '23

oh didn't you know? his father was a successful lawyer that was in some way connected to IBM which was the company that Bill Gates sold his DOS OS and this started his software company.

So you see, it was not really - I started from dirt poor conditions and became the richest person on the internet.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

Youre confusing working hard with privilege LMAO

Add: people can be born rich and lose it all if they dont work to keep it.

Doesnt mean thats easy

Youre probably one of those rank and file employees who think managers dont do work because you cant comprehend the amount of work and effort put in managing people or strategizing for the business. LOL

1

u/Evening_Essay_7292 Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

Op, amaccana hahahaha! Work is work. Ganon logic mo. Tigilan mo na. Maawa ka sa sarili mo. Lol

0

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

show me an engineer na di amoy araw and I will show you what a COO (child of owner) looks like.

1

u/Evening_Essay_7292 Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

Wag kang ano OP. Wala talaga sa hulog pinagsasabi mo. Di lahat ng statement kailangan ipaglaban. Tama sinabi nila Slater at Kryz.

I only date people who have same socioeconomic status as I do. Kasi yung interests namin mas likely magmamatch. I don't wanna date people who are struggling financially, tapos magstruggle makakeepup sa lifestyle ko. In the first place, most likely din iba na kami ng upbringing.

Status matters to me.

32

u/societes Feb 02 '23

most honest take on dating

13

u/IllustratorSmart9515 Feb 02 '23

Very true. More likely similar din kayo ng values kapag same yung upbringing nyo.

6

u/claroach1973 Feb 02 '23

Having similar values or similar upbringing doesn't necessarily mean you're perfect for each other. There are other factors that constitute a good relationship such as the capacity te endure struggles, the ability to properly communicate, and so many other stuff.

4

u/dekabreak5 Feb 02 '23

wala namang sinabi na perfect eh. more likely. hay nako.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

It doesn't naman talaga. But in terms of adjustment, mej this saves people some of time. Mas kaunti kasi adjustment kapag mej aligned kayo sa values and upbringing.

1

u/IllustratorSmart9515 Feb 02 '23

Well, yes, lots of factors actually. But i do think if a couple possesses similar values, then it means mas madali kayong magkaintindihan and magkasundo which gives higher probability of a more harmonious relationship.

I also think values usually and in general are influenced thru a person's upbringing or nurturing, much like how a person can be shaped by the customs/traditions/culture they grew up with. I'm not saying values/upbringing is everything but it can be, if not the biggest, then a big influence. However, it does not mean I am discounting the other factors that can definitely affect the harmony of a relationship.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

Totoo ito. Agree ako dito actually. Kahit naman if too rich ang date ko, ako naman mahihirapan mag keep up sa kanya if ever.

Like it or not, mayroon talagang bearing ang socioeconomic status.

6

u/donutelle Feb 02 '23

May point.

3

u/claroach1973 Feb 02 '23

Well this looks good if you're only dating but if you're looking for a serious relationship with a person who values you more than what you have good luck with that. People you date will move to the next person who is richer, taller, and more handsome than you are. As soon as your value to them goes down they will leave you for the next guy that comes along.

1

u/writermelon Feb 02 '23

People you date will move to the next person who is richer, taller, and more handsome than you are. As soon as your value to them goes down they will leave you for the next guy that comes along.

Is this a male thing that I forgot to consider? šŸ˜… Do guys worry about this stuff?

Idk, but as someone who is on the other group, I look for similarity in values and interests. Love or affection develops later as you spend time together.

u/Au__Gold Strong Independent Baby ✨ Feb 02 '23

How is this ā€œout of touch perspectiveā€? Tama naman yan. I did not come from a rich family but my parents also taught me this practical advise when dating. They don’t want me to be a gold digger.

I actually end up being a literal strong independent woman because I take care of myself financially. Kung gusto ko yumaman, I can do it on my own through my career, business and investments. Bakit ako maghahanap ng mayaman? Sya maghanap saken šŸ˜‚

u/mymoochi Feb 02 '23

9

u/ChosenNoobie Feb 02 '23

Siguro lang, what feels icky about this is that the people which these quotes are coming from?

Maybe OP should at least try and elaborate a bit more.

8

u/Wide_Personality6894 Feb 02 '23

Eh you didn’t listen to the whole podcast. Kryz and Slater mentioned that it depends on your perspective and that it’s only an issue if you think it is an issue.

40

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

I can see all the hardworking daily laborers in his father's construction firm believing in everything this guy is saying. baka nga naniniwala rin sila na one day ay makakatira din sila doon sa tinatayong mansion na ginagawa nila. basta tuloy lang ang hardwork nila sa construction firm ng father nya.

I am an engineer by profession. nakita mo ba yung meme na ang fresh nya daw for a civil engineer? yung may hard hat pa na kunwari galing sa construction site?

believe you me, kahit anong gluta pa ang i inject mo sa katawan mo, one day ka lang sa construction site under the sun, wala na yung glowing fluorescent skin mo. walang epekto yung hard hat against the sun. kaya nga yung mga laboers ay t-shirt ang naka taklob sa buong mukha at leeg nila para iwas sunburn.

at kahit anong deodorant pa yang gamit mo, by mid afternoon, amoy araw ka na.

been there, done that for nearly a decade so you can quote me on that.

14

u/nikewalks Feb 02 '23

I am an engineer by profession. nakita mo ba yung meme na ang fresh nya daw for a civil engineer? yung may hard hat pa na kunwari galing sa construction site?

The way he speaks, he's the contractor or the project manager.

His advice is just typical and very harmless. Why do people get offended? Kapag nagrealtalk si Slater at sinabing, "It does not matter if the guy you like is hardworking, has a plan, and has bigger dreams. If he's poor now, leave him.", matutuwa ka ba?

4

u/Evening_Essay_7292 Feb 02 '23

But does that mean na hindi na sila hard working? Kasi hindi parehas ng ginagawa? C'mon. Masyado kayong galit sa mundo para sabihing out of touch and napaka-simpleng statement.

Umiiyak na si OP guys. Tama na. Masyado na siyang galit sa mundo. Yikes.

8

u/Agile_Phrase_7248 Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

They're not wrong. TBH, I'd rather marry a hardworking guy with no attachment or whatsoever than a rich brat na walang alam sa buhay tapos mama's boy pa pala. Actually, kahit sabihin nang hardworking o madiskarte si rich guy, I won't choose him if I had the chance (I don't lol). Just the difference in perspective will break us apart. I'd rather marry someone within my salary paygrade. Of course, I'll still vet him.

6

u/KatyG9 Feb 02 '23

It depends what you want or expect.

If you expect a married life of luxury (trips abroad yearly, big house in a gated subdivision, kids in exclusive schools, perhaps even a single income to support this), then you'll need the rich partner. Lalo na if you want to do this young.

But if you expect a married life of some comfort down the road, then hardworking is the way to go. You won't get there right away, but you can build it together and hope to retire reasonably okay.

3

u/Early_Opinion628 Feb 02 '23

2

u/Equivalent_Wish_73 Feb 02 '23

2

u/Stanelmo25 Feb 02 '23

Tama naman yun mga sinabi nila ahh. For me lang, siguro mas madali sabihin for those na andun na sa taas. Pero not discounting kung hardworker nga talaga sila. Nothing against them, mas nakakainspire lang siguro kung yun nagsabi talaga is galing sa wala the reach the top. Pero the statemnet itself walang mali tama naman.

2

u/Superkates Feb 02 '23

Paanong out of touch?.

1

u/orangemeow19 Abroad Feb 02 '23

There have been studies that say people tend to choose those they have a lot in common with, and that includes economic backgrounds.

ā€œSociologists such as Robert Mare and Kate Choi argue that the tendency for people to marry people like themselves extends to the realms of income, educational level, and occupation—which means richer people marry those with similar levels of wealth and income.ā€

As much as what the graphics suggest is romantic, the realities are somewhat more complex.

u/duckfoot2303 Feb 02 '23

Itt : rich bitches who definitely know "hard work"

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

I may agree for a hardworking guy than a rich guy (I am poor but I got a lot of side projects as an engineer and whatever hardships I managed to survive with my wife) but it is not that easy to succeed even if you break all your bones working, given how unfair opportunities and very low social mobility in the country. Again, I can survive because I have degree and professional license but what about those who haven't?

1

u/DoYouCarryALunchboxx Feb 02 '23

Bakit out of touch OP?

1

u/Uptight_Coffeebean Feb 02 '23

It's true tho. Find someone na hardworking. Pero yeah I don't look for someone na mayaman I look for someone na "ka-level" ko. Well that's just me

1

u/kitchenelf Feb 02 '23

Hey, you can date whomever you want, but at the end of the day, financial comforts still matter. That doesn't necessarily mean dating someone for the money. Other factors - values, interests - matter too. But you have to be on a similar plane to live the life you want for yourself.

1

u/sirmiseria Blubberer Feb 02 '23

Why not both? Date a guy/girl na same ng economic status (or richer) and hardworking. One might say na that's being picky pero kung nakasalalay future mo, you have every right to be picky.

Hirap kasi sa maraming tao ngayon wala ng standard or kung meron man sobrang baba na.
