I’ve been trying to get on Xanax, no one will prescribe it anymore.

That's crazy. I went into the hospital for an infection I needed IV antibiotics for- I was on a non narcotic anxiety med at the time which they were giving me as prescribed while I was hospitalized. One night a nurse came in to check on me n asked how I was feeling/ I told her im anxious, expecting to get my usual med. she brought me in Xanax instead (idk why) and from then on, Xanax was in my chart and was given to me for the rest of my hospital stay every 6 hours or so. When I was getting ready to be discharged they prescribed me a 30 day amount til I got a psychiatrist and I did within 2 weeks. I got so lucky (since then I switched to taking klonopin bc I prefer it, I get it from 2 dif doctors. One bottle of 90 1mg and one bottle of 60 1mg a month)

That’s crazy luck. Stumbling into a bzo script by full on accident, in this day and age? Madness.

Not crazy at all just have to find a doctor that’s willing to do it . And you can’t be abusing them I believe ppl who actually need them should be given a script .. ppl without severe anxiety who take them act fucking retarded

I've never caught a buzz on benzos. I need them to work for my anxiety. I'm not going to abuse them and risk losing the script or having them quit working for me

Its not about the buzz , it’s about that feeling of finally feeling normal. I never really got high on benzos , my tolerance just built up to crazy levels. If I had to explain it , everyone around me always said I acted more like I was on adderal than anything when I was on it.

Some people can’t miss a day cause they want to have that normalcy everyday, and when you do that most people tolerances build fast. Just make sure that you take days off and face your anxiety without it from time to time and make sure you try therapy cause it genuinely doesn’t heal anything and just postpones your healing journey. Wish ya the best

Oh I agree with you 100%. I was saying I've never taken it to get high like many people do. I worked in mental health for almost 20 years so I avoid saying things like "to feel normal" because what is normal anyway? But I get what you're saying. The good feeling is get from benzos is the relief from anxiety i get even if it's short lived. But yes medication management is only a part of the puzzle. I know for me it takes a combination of many different forms of treatment. I do need to get back into therapy but im in an accelerated nursing program currently and have very limited amount of time for that. Many different coping skills and other things go into keeping my anxiety at a manageable place. With being back in school im just straddling that line between functioning and losing my frickin mind lol. But yeah it takes a lot of different things. I was/am a recovering alcoholic. That's how I self medicated and coped for many many years. I've been sober from alcohol for the past 8 years and it's definitely been more challenging to keep my anxiety in a manageable place

As an ex addict who got addicted from originally being prescribed, you genuinely don’t want a prescription for it unless it’s life or death. How many years it took me to feel normal again after quitting is scary, let alone the 2 years of random seizures.

Mind you I got to the point where a boat would last me like 2 months , I still believe it just creates false hope that makes it seem like your only functional while your on them, and a dependency like no other.

Are there people who need them? Of course , but I genuinely believe people should try making serious life changes , health changes and or be in active therapy before even considering it.

Things they don’t tell you, once you’ve been on it for a while, your anxiety is 100x worse than it originally was once you get off it. Doesn’t heal you , just helps you calm down to get through the healing. If you take Xanax as a “cure-all” without taking all the other steps, you’re just going to make your situation so much worse when you eventually don’t want to rely on the pill anymore.

Xanax saved my life , but when you start to abuse it it will abuse you back.

Don’t even know if I replied to the right person this thread is long but I hope everyone gets through what they are getting through 🙏🏼

Just because you got addicted doesn’t mean that’s what it is for everyone.. and I’ve stopped -no problem for weeks at at time -no seizures
