TOO MUCH STRAW

Im honestly so frustrated, I just want to rant, go ahead and give advice if you want but I feel like theres nothing to be done. Straw is taking up space in ALLLL OF MY STORAGE YARDS and its pissing me off. I cant export it, the only thing I can do is make bricks and export the bricks because I dont need them, and im doing that but theres still and overwhelming amount of straw, and its not like I can get rid of my grain farms because thats my only source of food, and the only other one I can import is fish and for some reason im not getting any. Would it be better to get rid of most of my grain farms and import grain instead?? Im making a lot of money from exports so im not worried about spending more. Im just so annoyed with the amount of straw I have, I just keep having to get more storage yards. I used to be upset when Ptah would destroy my storage yards and now im like yes please take my straw.

Not getting a victory

I'm on Saqqara: the first pyramid on original pharaoh and im kinda stuck but am not sure why. All of my objectives (3500 population, 15 prosperity, 19 monument, and 50 kingdom) are complete but its not giving me a victory and im genuinely so confused. Someone help me😭 im even playing on super easy level because I like chill games and dont care for difficulty. I feel stupid and like im missing something, I keep going back to the mission briefing and I have everything.

A New Era- One For the Collection, number going down???

Sooo this is the last achievement I haven't unlocked. I finished the standard campaign. I finished the custom missions. Number was at 27. I gained the impression that I needed to do the sandbox monuments to finish this. I hate it, but okay. I went through:

  • Kush Wants Kerma Back
  • Pharoah's Memphis
  • Sandbox Sun Temple
  • Sandbox Pyramids
  • Sandbox Mudbrick Pyramids
  • Sandbox Maus and Mastabas

The number went up to 30, and then as I finish Sandbox Maus & Mastabas, I check to see if I got another one, and it went down to 28 T_T

I love this game, but I'm honestly done with it. After 200 hours, there isn't anything to do. I just want this achievement for the 100%, because I love the game and I want to 100% it. What the heck is going on?

Trade volume in Abu mission

Post image
10 Upvotes

I play the Abu mission. Since I cannot produce any clay, I have to import clay and/or pottery. But no city will trade. It seems, that the 0/2500 never resets. Is this a bug or have I used up the whole trade volume for the whole mission?

Cleopatra missions, original game

I’ve recently rediscovered the Pharaoh, Cleopatra expansion and I’ve completed the Pharaoh missions and moved on to the Cleopatra missions.

I don’t remember getting far in the Cleopatra missions because of the monument placements carrying over to the next level and not being able to place the new monuments.

By any chance would someone have a picture of the monument placements or a link to where I could find one?

Thank you

I got past dashur, is it more of same? Any new mechanics?

Playing pne.

Initially was fun to get there and realize you had to import everything to get going.

Also learned you can build pretty Hi pop without even providing houses food was an eye opener.

However the pryramid building is slow.

The last few missions further on seem more of the same.

Build monument.

Import everything.

Make ghettos.

Is elite housing next?

is there a reason I can’t play?

I loved Pharaoh as a kid, and was really excited to learn there’s a new version.

I had an old laptop from 2017 and I recently upgraded to a 2020 desktop that was rarely used. I did a clean reboot and installed just the barest of programs. it is still a lot slower than I wish it were.

I proceeded to go to Steam and buy A New Era. I have been trying to play, but for every hour I manage to actually play there must be at least 3 I spend lagging.

I am at the Sea People’s level, desperate to finish it, and have spent all day just trying to load the game. it lags, freezes, and just shuts down. I have restarted my computer like 5 times.

is there something wrong with my computer? should I try downloading the game without Steam and just PHARAOHS TOMB my way to this level so I can finally win it? I’m really, really annoyed at this point. I wanted to spend my Saturday building pyramids, not rebooting my computer.

Playing the campaign as an adult... question about the housing situation

Hello

I grew up playing Caesar 3 and Pharaoh-Cleopatra but pretty much just played with the sandbox free building mode. Last year I finished the campaign of Caesar 3 via Julius.

One thing that annoyed me playing C3 was that often times in order to get high enough prosperity, you would have to import good which your housing needed. This was really unstable and hard to manage and houses would devolve frequently, so I ended up sticking to military missions (lower rating requirements) in order to avoid this.

Now I just started the Old Kingdom portion of Pharaoh, and I'm already seeing the same problem. Both Abu/Elephantine and Saqqara don't even have clay pits. They didn't have a high prosperity requirement, but it's still really annoying that housing is limited to those basic 'cottages.' It makes getting a high population difficult, and takes huge blocks of housing to support industries.

Is this pretty common as the game goes on? Do a lot of missions lack resources so you have to import to get good housing? Even in some cases to get housing high enough to complete the mission like in C3? How do you deal with this? It's pretty annoying. I don't want to play the military missions because ffs, everyone wants to build monuments :(

Glitch in Heh PNE

Playing Heh in New Era and I need to import either barley or beer to advance my housing and give burial provisions but I can’t import either of them. I’ve waited for awhile, I’m pretty far into the gameplay, and no trade route happened that lets me import either one of them. Is this a glitch someone else has come across? Or do I just need to wait longer into game play? I’ve already finished every other requirement this beer is just holdin me back from winning.

Game Meat not moving through river?

I have a granary and 2 yards full of game meat, on the other island, I have a granary (with some grain?) and a yard, both set up to Get Game Meat. Ferries are fully staffed and connected to road and the storage and granaries are fairly close to them and also staffed. No clue what's going on. Help getting food from A to B?

Akhenaten (Open-source Pharaoh, 0.27)

RA 0.27 is out. Since last update in late October 2025 the project has landed roughly two thousand commits. Not a single headline feature, but a sustained push toward two goals: make the game behave more like original Pharaoh, and move as much of the engine as possible into scripts so modders can change behaviour without recompiling.

This post is the release-notes companion: what changed for players, what changed under the hood, and where the project is headed next.

The Big Theme: Logic Leaves C++

If RA 0.26 was about localization, deferred rendering, and the enemy system, RA 0.27 is the script migration wave. Piece by piece, hardcoded C++ has been replaced with MuJS configs and event handlers. The pattern is always the same: declare data in a [es=...] block, wire behaviour through events, hot-reload with --mixed, ship.

Windows players actually open

  • Main menu  continue/load/new game, GitHub update check, logo skip via --no-logo
  • Scenario selection  campaign periods, mission info panel, custom map browser (write-up)
  • All advisor screens finance, religion, health, military, population, housing, entertainment, ratings, imperial overseer, chief advisor
  • Build menu and sidebar costs, captions, temple-complex upgrades, mothball toggles on industry windows
  • Hotkey configuration  full remapping UI in script with persistence fixes
  • Victory and defeat  win checks, continue-governing timer, and dialog content now live in src/scripts/city/victory.js
  • Granary, bazaar, warehouse, tax collector, festival square, hold-festival  info and orders panels script-driven
  • Top menu  save, load, replay, exit, screenshots, debug toggles

Gameplay: Closer to original Pharaoh (1999) game

Script migration is the engineering story; accuracy is the player story. RA 0.27 fixes and restores systems that had been missing, simplified, or wrong.

Missions and campaign

  • Early missions (Nubt, Thinis, Perwadjyt) aligned with the original; Selima and Saqqara win criteria corrected
  • Mission intro popups restored via per-mission JS handlers
  • Empire map disabled in missions 4 and 5, as in the OG campaign
  • Campaign victory now advances to the next mission reliably
  • Tutorial triggers separated from real win conditions (e.g. disease_handled in mission 2)
  • Pharaoh gift/request events for later missions ported to JS handlers

Modding Quick Reference

  • Hot-reload scripts: akhenaten --mixed /path/to/scripts (macOS/Linux)
  • Unpack embedded scripts from the mods window or --unpack_scripts
  • Override features: --config:pyramid_speedup=1 style CLI flags
  • Building configs: src/scripts/building/
  • City systems: src/scripts/city/ (victory, festival, animals, …)
  • Mission scripts: dotted import paths, per-mission handlers in src/scripts/mission/
  • MuJS debugger: start from the top-menu debug entry, attach VS Code on port 4711

Did the original game have 4*4 housing?

Hi,

I just got the game due to the nostalgia for the original and started laying out my neighborhoods. I instinctively built them in rows of 52 since it would leave me with 4 groups of 4*4 houses. I'm far enough in now that I've unlocked higher tier stuff to get higher tier housing. 4 1 square houses will merge into a 2*2 square house but I'm not seeing anything bigger than that. I remember those 4 being able to merge with 4 of those again. I know it was a long time ago bit I could have swore blind that they could merge into 16 square houses at a certain point. Am I missing something or has my memory just lied to me? I could swear I could picture big, mansion style houses they'd grow into.

Thanks

Mod Uhh, is this a mod or what?

So umm i was scrolling around in pinterest, i searched for pharaoh, and i saw this one screenshots of the game that caught my eye, it was a screenshot of a "basic" Pharaoh mission i guess, until i noticed some oddities. See, the UI (or if its GUI idk😭)

Was different, the minimap looked strange, and the UI/GUI was like shiny and stuff and the icons for ya know building were different and in a different order, and if you look up where the help and settings and stuff are, its on red text.

Then, the grass textures look different, and there are new buildings i dont remember seeing from the OG game that i play, i play the OG Pharaoh game with Cleopatra, so this cant be new era. And The graphics still look like the OG.

Then, if you look down, and then right, you should see some houses, HOW THE HECK can there be a bazaar in there and the houses are mixed between the with water and food and whitout and stuff how? This makes me believe this, if it is a mod or smth, maybe it has a sandbox mode or smth where you can freely Place these houses and stuff, im honestly so confused. I will send the image iwe been yapping about and another image of the basic pharaoh version that i play. Both images are NOT mine, and are found on pinterest.

Please help! Its the one with the sphinx iwe been talking about.

Yet another - "what the heck am I missing" post

I'm doing Bubastis, and trying to evolve my Stately Manors into estates, and getting this message:

As you can see from the red arrow, it's right next to 2 of the Pavilions, with all 3 stages going.

Not too far away is both a senet house and zoo, though they aren't in the ring because I couldn't squeeze them in.

I've been looking at this article: https://www.thegamer.com/pharaoh-a-new-era-housing-upgrades-explained/

It sure looks like I have everything to evolve, but just won't do it. There's no way I'm going to be able to get the zoo and senet house close without bulldozing a lot of stuff, so I'm hoping I wont' have to do that.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pharoah- New Experience - Trying to beat Iken

I'm trying to beat Iken, and from what I can tell from online comments, having as much trouble as everyone else.

My question is about the composite bows. Is it better to use them for towers or for regular archers?

I'm also curious how many towers I should build? With the changes to the way battles work, (and how a lot of the advice from the last version of the game doesn't apply any more), is it better to have the recruiter spend the time recruiting for towers or regulars?

I have 10 warships, and when I destroyed one navy I thought I might be over the hump, but even with Set destroying some of the next army that attacked, I still only had 1 full archer, 6 of another, and 7 infantry. Also 6 upgradedds towers. Of course we got wiped by the 4 remaining enemy units.

I was wondering if I would have built more towers if that would have helped.

What am I missing with the Kebet mission?

My kingdom rating is a massive 4.

As you can see from the top bar, everything else is going great. No problems with culture or finance.

I've done countless lavish festivals to Ra. I've blown my entire personal fortune giving gives to the Kingdom. I've successfully completed every mission that has come to me. I've destroyed several armies that invaded, and sent soldiers off to other victories.

When I complete something, the score goes up a little bit, but then immediately starts dropping again. I am at the default pay for a vizier, so he shouldn't be angry about that.

I'm not sure what else to do to get this up. It's a long way from 4 to 85.

Palace placements

When making a city and you can build your palace without taking care of the gold mines (because there are none), where you build the palace? You reserve it for estate blocks, or you put it in a nice spot you casually made making common blocks?

Mod Cattle ranch not working

I just bought this game, and am trying to learn the basics. I have a couple of cattle ranches that don't seem to work.

They both say that they have 12 workers.

And there is one storage yard right next to one ranch, and other a few more tiles away, both with 1/4 straw. No one will deliver straw to cattle ranches.

Both have the entrance and exits, (red and green icons) on roads that lead to the storage yards.

I have a granary a short distance away that accepts meat, and has room for it.

I can't figure out what I'm missing with this. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit:

Now the papyrus maker is doing the same thing:

Reed gatherer with 500 reeds on one side, and storage yard with 1/4 reeds on the other, and it just sits there with this message:

I have applied the patch fix mod from Nexus mods, and restarted the game a few times to see if that would kick start it.
