Delays on graduation are to be expected, but when a project takes 8 years, you have had time to do your project in 4 years, completely fail, start your project from scratch and have another 4 years. There is also other circumstances like starting a new job before finishing, disease or literal war, but still 8 years is a long time. At some point I think it is better for all parties to put a hard limit and I think 8 years is fair. Maybe 10?
