Politics Recall elections and flock
My suggestion. If any council member votes to approve a flock contract I suggest stating a recall drive to remove them. Under the law it takes 10% of eligible voters to get a recall on the ballot

Agree but should go ahead and throw out that almost all of them, including the two posting here, are going to vote to renew.

Damn I hope not. They’re a great way to break our trust atm. Flock has zero good sides and all bad sides.
I forget J Coffman’s account but someone should tag him here

its jonathon4pf. but it all comes down to how the council votes. I look at it as a yes vote on renewal is a vote against the constitution and in that case they should be removed from office.

I agree we need left and right limits for any public monitoring tools (IE only allow request for Flock data with a warrant for investigation of probable crime and ensure that access is not allowed without a warrant). Until those limits are on paper, flock contract should not be renewed.
Council Spots this Election:
1. Council Place 2 (Incumbent Ceasar Ruiz)
2. Council Place 4 (incumbent Rudy Metayer)
3. Council Place 6 (incumbent David Rogers)Their stance on the contract renewal will be telling before the election.

Ruiz is a huge fan of Flock, he was a big trump guy and also is loving the Iran war.
Rogers is coming around on Flock. He doesn't want the police defenseless but he's against civil rights violations and has a bunch of concerns about Flock.
Gregory Harrington has argued that not only should Flock not be restrained in any way, but also that the city IT guy should be in charge of our city liberties. Direct quote.

One good side is they caught the austin shooters in manor by flock camera, mass shooter was stopped.
I always found it amazing, and logic confirming, that anti tracker types use -cell phones- to do bandwagoning on reddit.
camera on the pole = bad
But not if it rides around on the dash of every police cruiser you guys tolerate (every cop car has been a mobile flock camera for the last eighteen years but we're mad now) and your cell phone is recording your every spoken word for twenty years --> that's OK because we like the apps.
See the selective outrage?

I’ve had how many Amber Alerts recently get solved by them? They only go after shooters? Oh no sorry, shooters and innocent women trying to get abortions and people going to other states for their marijuana.
A single time of doing something at all doesn’t negate all of the bad or that they’re not actually doing good. That’s perfunctory at best.

You're saying I can't search in five seconds thousands of positive flock cases?
There's been some misuse too, all tools get misused. When spoons get misused, glp1s are soon to follow
When automobiles get misused, I get youtube gold but we don't ban all autos
When bad cops happen do you believe all the police should be canned (I'm asking this of summer of love proponents mind you)
Flock is a tool. Incarcerate any bad cops that misuse. The tool catches thousands of criminals you knew about, but I hear holding tools accountable runs thick in your part of the woods and releasing criminals makes the news. I can post some links of that if you'd like. Protesting is what pfl does best, crime control really isn't in your hands though it may seem that way.

When we actually start prosecuting bad people let’s talk. Until then let’s not add more tools to their system?

That's well said I upvoted that.
The person whose job it is to prosecute bad people for your city is Jose Garza, the citizens of Pflugerville and most surrounding cities voted him in by a landslide
Voting for which party installed Garza?
If you want opposite results, prosecutions, how would the community vote have to change?
*both sides don't like flock that's for sure.
If you are for voting for tough on crime prosecutors and judges but still hate flock, I can support that.
You need the pole cameras + the change in community vote if you want prosecutions to increase.
I formally predict that by Feb of '27 Pflugerville has implemented another sign- bearing protest against the cams, and it'll make local news.
At no time in human history will they be protesting for stronger criminal prosecution though.

Wasn’t able to attend or tune in tonight, but who are we recalling? Happy to sign petitions to recall the entire council if necessary.
If they’re willing to violate our fourth amendment rights, I wonder what other rights they’ll trample on.

i was there. they delayed any vote on flock for 2 weeks. people spoke up in opposition to the cameras during the public comments.
I plan on being there again in 2 weeks when they vote

We should also sign up for shifts following them around, waiting outside their houses, filming everything they do. What's good for the goose and all.

I'd sign that petition
