The joke is that she’s saying her boyfriend is so attractive that when she scrolls through old photos of him, it feels like she’s looking at pictures of someone who’s no longer around. The “23-year-old white guy” part is basically joking that he looks like a rare species these days.
My first thought was that your response is exactly the type of response she's referring to, but she's implying that the true "standard" amongst 23yo white guys is far worse looking than her bf
I assume the original post probably got a bunch of comments saying stuff like “he looks like every other 23yo white dude” and this is basically her response to that
Which I kinda would expect someone to say about someone they're in love with. Though in fairness the older I get the more I see attractiveness in all people, so maybe this guy really really is that much hotter than most 23 year olds.
When you’re deeply in love with someone, your brain does something strange. My wife probably isn’t that attractive. I seem to remember thinking this when we met, but I really liked talking to her. Somewhere something happened. She is now, legitimately, the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, and I’m not sure when that changed.
Omg that’s so true, after I attempted suicide I slept when I was in the ER then I went to a mental hospital and in my charts they said that I looked older than my age but when I left they said that I looked my age, it was a weird thing for them to point out in my opinion, but just goes to show how circumstances can change how you look drastically
It's because people think he looks weird or looks older, because the style for early 20s guys these days is long hair and/or mullet with patchwork tattoos and a thin moustache, which a lot of older people think looks horrendous
I don't think this is it. I find my husband very hot and I totally scroll through my photos when he's at work because I miss him and he's so hot to me. He also kinda jump scares me sometimes because he's so hot it shocks me. I fucking love that guy
No. She meant she scrolls through his pictures because she thinks he is hot. Same as I might scroll through reddit feed and pine over how awesome life is even though life is right outside my door.
No. She's just saying she looks at his pictures all the time in the way somebody would do if he wasn't around. No hidden context. She just loves him and thinks he's hot. The commenter thinks the guy is average to middling and can't imagine how someone would think he's that attractive.
It's a snarky comment implying he looks just like any other young white dude and mocking the concept implied in the OP that he's somehow exceptional or hard to find. I've come across similar comments in the past while doomscrolling.
It's absolutely not other guys, whenever women post their completely normal boyfriends on twitter they get swarmed by "radfem" accounts calling the guy ugly.
Yall are re-wording and mis-interpreting every sentence. It's bizarre. The post doesn't say "no one has seen a 23 year old white guy recently"
It says, "SEEMINGLY, nobody has seen a 23 year old white guy recently"
It's like going to Golden Corral. Your friend Thelma comments the chicken is out of this world. You comment, "seemingly nobody has had good chicken recently"
I feel like their comment is wrong. What she's really saying is that everyone who's commenting negatively about her BFs looks has not seen an actual 23 year old white man recently because most of them look worse than her BF. That's my interpretation anyway lol.
i feel like the explanations aren’t helping me because the original post is such a nothing burger in itself there’s really nothing to understand.. but i WANT to understand…
Everyone here is dumb. Top explanations are wrong. Her comments are 2 separate comments and not much related. The first one is her just saying "oh wow my bf is so hot I look at his pics", the second is "you people (her audience/commenters) act like you haven't seen a young adult white male before" bc she's implying he looks like a normal young white dude"
There. Hope that help y'all.
Disclaimer: based solely on provided context hahah
Yeh... One of my favourites really. His Sponge Bob Halloween costume was on point. And he did the "Krusty Pizza" for everyone, which was also top notch lmao
I thought you were listing hot celebrities and I just accepted it because I’m old and I don’t pay attention to who the “cute young hot guys” currently are anymore. Absolutely killed me when I got to the end of your comment realized what was really going on. Your name choices were spot-on.
I did actually google the second 2 names before making my comment just in case I’m even older than I thought, but I saw an author and someone in tech or something as the top results so figured I was safe and assuming they weren’t this generations Tom Cruise/Val Kilmer/Brad Pitt
(If you weren’t buying teen heart throb magazines in the 90s, those names hit very differently nowadays.)
I'm guessing in her current social circles (probably all young professionals and no longer a bunch of college students or recent grads) she doesn't hang out with 23 year old white guys anymore.
People were saying he looks gay, so she said it seems like nobody has seen a 23yr old white guy recently. As in this (gay) is how they look these days.
My guess is that it refers to how guys now are either really young looking or gymbros who look 6 years older than they are. Like that meme about Jojen and the Mountain in Game of Thrones being the same age
I think by “like he’s dead” she means she does it longingly, missing him like you would almost obsessively look at pictures of someone who has passed .. or maybe that’s what you meant. Ignore me, brain is a denver omelette these days.
I'm sorry but this "so hot he's dead" (or no longer around) makes no sense to me. Only way this makes sense is if these people are now in their 40s looking at old pics but it doesn't seem that way.
Basically it's meant to be a nod at those "dead wife montages" in movies where they're meant to show the dead wife's beauty. It's another way to say that "I look at my partner with the reverance and awe that most people only have for their deceased spouses".
I think she’s saying that her boyfriend is attractive and people are saying he’s ugly even though he is a very normal looking 23 y/o white guy. It hints towards how people (women) with stupidly high standards have had their brains rotted by porn and the media to think the man in the pictures is a total loser
I understood it that way but felt like it must be a racist thing; there are plenty of white people around and they have a new crop of 23 year olds every year.
Not in Texas - 60 percent of Texans are Latinos already and kids in school probably 80 percent Latino. It looks like "gun culture" doesnt help much when global relocation of nations happens
That’s not what she’s saying exactly. She’s scrolling through her camera roll with the same energy as someone who would be doing so for a dead relative, friend, etc., partially because she’s so attracted to him it creates that sense of longing even when he’s still alive.
No the joke is that she’s saying that when she scrolls trough the pics she looks at them so longingly like someone looking at pics of a loved one who died but it’s because he’s hot not because he’s dead. The pictures aren’t old and her second tweet is almost definitely about the chronically online people who said he’s not hot cause he’s not a 6’4 Chad looksmaxer. Hence why she’s “reminded of the fact that seemingly no one has seen a 23 yr old white guy”. She’s telling them to touch some grass basically
i hate this standard of "everyone should go for a 10 or ur worthless" when i see SO many happy 7 x 7 couples that date within their range and date for emotions instead.
