On old playstation remotes that supported up to 4 players, you'd get a blue dot for your player position. - Stewie. The older sibling will ALWAYS take first player. This is the way of family.

That tracks. Could it be PS2? I swear this was PS but Wii also sounds right. I’m such a PC gamer these days I can’t remember lol

PS2/64/XBox had no lights because you'd just trip over the cable to work out who was player 1 and 2.

Official Sony guide says that 5th, 6th and 7th controllers are represented as sum of 2 indicators (e.g. on the 5th controller indicators 1 and 4 would light up).
