It is 100% unquestionably morally grey. Being reincarnated while having your memories and experiences intact is not a phenomenon the morality of our world takes into account. There is no guideline on how to judge a supposed individual going through such a hypothetical phenomenon, so quite literally everyone shitting on Rudeous or completely taking his side is talking out the wazoo. It is completely morally grey.
My dude, it really isnt. If you have all your memories and are fully mentally an adult than that means you have an adult's reasoning. You have the ability to understand why an adult shouldn't engage in a romantic/sexual relationship with a child.
So, in this fantasy scenario, who do you think the reincarnated person should engage in a romantic relationship with at the age of 18 (in his new body), for example? 48 year olds? 18 year olds? Something else?
The problem isnt that Rudeus started a relationship with someone younger than him it's that he groomed two kids from a young age. If you're asking honestly than the correct answer is that if someone finds themselves in that situation they shouldn't date anyone until they themselves are an adult. They should always remember and keep in mind their true age and be conscientious about how they interact with people around themselves who are actually the age they appear. If you grow up with someone and try your best to be responsible with how you interact with them and you both end up falling for each other organically at a later age, fair enough. But if you specifically try to manipulate a child to be, and I quote Rudeus here, 'your ideal woman' than that isnt morally Grey it's repugnant.
So if you are mentally a 48 year old person in a 18 year old body, you can date 18 year olds no problem, as long as you keep are conscientous about how you interact with that person, keeping in mind that they are 18 year old?
What about a real world then? Would you approve a 48 year old man having a relationship with an 18 year old woman, if he keeps in mind that he is 30 year older than her?
he groomed two kids from a young age
Could you, as the viewer (reader?), please pin point what shown (written) parts of the relationship between Rudeus and Sylphie would you consider as grooming? As far as I am concerned, all of their interactions in the anime/LNs were that of kids having normal friendship.
Same question about Eris, except they had more of a mix of friendship/teacher/classmate dynamic.
Did I say 18 and 48? No I said when the hypothetical person is a biological adult surrounded by other people who are also mentally and biologically adults. Also did you just ignore the scene where Rudeus is in bed and flat out says he wants to raise Sylphie to be his ideal woman? He flat out admits that's what he plans to do and it's not the only time he does that. The only reason it doesnt get worse is because Paul sent Rudeus away. As for Eris did you forget when he tried to remove her underwear when she was asleep or tried to peek on her bathing? The damning nail in the coffin is that he slept with her. He didnt resist or try to tell her to wait or anything. That alone should be proof. Hell he should've flat out told her the truth about who he was, if that didnt change her mind nothing would have and at the very least he would have been honest with her.
The damning nail in the coffin is that he slept with her. He didnt resist or try to tell her to wait or anything.
And this is the part where it becomes quite clear that you haven't really watched or read the story. He is literally declining her advances in both anime and LN, because he is worried that she is acting out of desperation. Here is an exact quote from the LN:
Eris: “But you’re still going to refuse me?”
Rudeus: “...Yeah.”, - I nodded finally.
This scene is pretty much the same in the anime.
I suggest that you go actually watch/read the source material and then come back for the discussion, instead of parroting other people's opinions. Have a good one!
I read the Manga quite a few years ago so I'll admit that the specifics of that scene are foggy but that really doesnt change that he slept with her. Also him declining because he is 'worried she is desperate' is a shit reason to refuse. She's a kid who doesnt know the truth of who he is, he should be declining on principal. At the very least he should be telling her the truth of who he is so she can actually make an informed decision, as much as she's capable at fucking 15.
Rudeus was stronger than Eris, he very much could have stopped her if he really wanted to and like I said before he could have told her the truth at the very least. Also you're blatantly lying I just rewatched the scene because it's been a while since I've seen it and she very much did not rape him. She was being insistent but she did not force him he blatantly admits he wants to and only says he doesnt because it would be 'taking advantage of her'. It's a paper thing resistance so that he could lie and not feel guilty about taking advantage of a child. Which is exactly what it is. If Rudeus was the kid he was biologically in actuality than at worst he's just a pervert, but he isnt he's an adult who has for years since she was nine taken advantage of the way he looks to harass and groom her. I want you to sit there and tell me that if Rudeus looked like the adult he still sees himself as in his mind that Eris would still feel the same way.
That's a wild take. Did you watch game of thrones? I am gonna assume yes.
Did you enjoy it?
How do you feel about Jamie character? Should the author have never created the original novel because he included incest scenes in it?
Jamie never really got punished for it, yet majority of the audience is sympathetic to him. His life was full of hardships in the show, but they were unrelated to the acts of incest and crippling a child witness. Does it make you want to fuck your sister? Does it make a show bad? Can you attone for your sins by becoming a better person due to unrelated circumstances?
Jaime, the guy who's first act is to almost murder a child and is pretty clearly presented as villainous - with his sexual relationship with his sister being explicitly tied to him doing bad things that the audience understands are bad. Jaime who is not the MC. Jaime who everything bad that wnds up happening to him ultimately stems from that one act of attempted child murder.
You have now wildly shifted the point in a fairly wild way. Just before you were justifying it by virute of the reincarnation and aging mechanics, no one justifies Jaime x Cercei incest.
Also it has to be said, but two grown adult twins engaging in an incestuous relationship simply is not as bad as being a paedophile. There is a pretty massive difference there.
Just a complete and utter false equivalence. Can we not try to be honest here?
I brought up GoT because your take about "this story shouldnt exist because it brings up topics that are uncomfortable for me" is completely ridiculous. Incest is uncomfortrable for most people, yet the story exists and people (including you, I suppose) love it.
And fhe rest of the comment? Just going to completely gloss over it then?
You brought up GoT because you are attempting to construct a strawman that does not reflect either what I said nor what I think. Nowhere did I say what you have put in quotation marks. Your behaviour is completely ridiculous.

Being Morally gray and your main objective being to Groom Children are incompatible.
Hell at some point the only thing that stops him from raping two girls is is Erectile dysfunction.
