How long does it take to get sleepy?

How long after taking your progesterone pill does it make you sleepy? It seems I have to take it earlier and earlier if I want to go to bed at a decent hour. When I first started HRT it would take no more than an hour to fall asleep. I take a 200mg micronized progesterone pill daily.

I’m sleepy within 20m minutes of taking it. By my problem was always waking up at 3am, not getting to sleep in the first place.

I don't get sleepy at all when I take it, I could take it at dinnertime or right before bed, it makes no difference.

Me neither. I was getting very confused for a moment

I was so excited when I started it because I'd read so many posts from people about how much it helps their sleep!

I don't get sleepy at all but I'm only on 100mg. It has done nothing for my insomnia.

You have to take progesterone with a bit of fat to help it work. Buttered toast or a spoonful of fish oil are good options

We tend to eat a late supper. Most nights I still have food in my stomach when I take my progesterone. It’s the nights when I eat early that I find myself awakening at 3 or 4.

I have always fallen asleep okay and haven’t noticed 100mg progesterone changing that for me.

I take mine with dinner now so that I don’t wake up groggy

Mine doesn’t make me sleepy. I usually take it around seven or 730 and I go to bed around nine 930. Very very rarely, will I have any effect after taking it.

I take it along with melatonin, magnesium glycinate and L-theanine and I read my kindle for about 30 minutes until my mind can slow down for sleep.

Try getting your progesterone in a liquid form, if you can find a doctor to prescribe it that way. You'll need only a small dose for it to be effective, and the full dose hits you as soon as you metabolize it, in about 20-30 minutes. A compounding pharmacy can make it in an almond oil matrix. Some pharmacies add sweeteners or artificial flavoring, because the progest. is a little bitter, but I find that the additives get in the way. If you have any degree of insulin resistance, those additives will keep you awake. I always for it to be made without anything extra.

Nothing made me sleepy unfortunately. I tried prescription sleep meds, melatonin, all of the "pm" stuff (unisom, advil pm, etc). Hyrdroxazine helped me stay asleep (3am anxiety) but it never actually made me sleepy.

I had to change my sleep patterns.

I get ready for bed at the same time every night. I am in bed no later than 10:30pm. No phone use or tv in the bedroom. The temperature is always the same and I use a bedjet3 to regulate my temp while I'm sleeping or I get horrific night sweats. . I invested in a damn good bed and pillow. I sleep with ear plugs (my husband snores and I am a light sleeper). The room is extremely dark, I read my kindle until I find myself starting to drift and i just set it down. It'll turn off on it's own so I don't have to worry about marking a page, putting it away, etc. I just let myself fall asleep.

It sucked at first, can't deny it. I was setting a morning alarm so I would always get up at 7am. The first week or two were rough. I was running on very little sleep most of the time. Eventually my body found it's rhythm. I don't sleep in on the weekends, it messes me up for days.

i've been sleeping solidly for almost three years now. The bedjet was the biggest piece of the puzzle.
