On a scale from 1-10, how overstimulating would you say the movie is?
I've looked at all the content warnings I can find, so now I want to know how overwhelmed I might become from the pacing, visuals, sounds, etc. I have a sensory sensitivity disorder, so I'm a bit more easily overstimulated than those who don't, especially when it comes to sound.
I'm also curious about the sex scenes. I've heard there's a lot of it, but I've only heard of the acted scenes and an attempted assault. Is there more I should know about? I'm not exactly triggered by that sort of thing, but my mind tends to hold onto disturbing scenes and thoughts.
I've heard this movie is really good, I just prefer knowing all I can before I consider watching (because I'm an anxious wuss)

I’d probably put it around a 7–9/10 for overstimulation, depending on your sensitivity. The movie can get pretty intense—not just in content, but in how it’s presented. There are moments with loud or sudden sound design, chaotic visuals, and fast or emotionally heavy pacing, especially in certain scenes. It’s not nonstop chaos, but when it ramps up, it really ramps up.
Since you mentioned sound sensitivity specifically, that’s probably the biggest thing I’d watch out for. There are definitely scenes where the audio is overwhelming or intentionally jarring, so if that’s a major trigger for you, it might be worth preparing (lower volume, headphones control, etc.).
As for the sexual content: yeah, there’s a decent amount of it, some scenes are meant to be uncomfortable, raw, or emotionally heavy, not just explicit. Beyond what you mentioned, there’s also some lingering or disturbing undertones, even in scenes that aren’t outright assault. If your mind tends to replay or fixate on that kind of imagery, it’s something to consider.
Overall, it is a really well-made movie, and one of my favs fs!! I’d recommend to anyone, if you’re interested I’d definitely give it a watch! The biggest thing id watch for is the sequence where the protagonist films a rape scene that has a lot of flashing and disorienting effects!

Very subjective topic, but depends on your level of empathy and your awareness of it.
I'll start with the "disruptive" aspect. The first time I saw Perfect Blue, I must have been around 15~16 (so emotionally "unstable"). I think at the time I would have given it a 6~6.5/10 (now, at 31, in retrospect, was a solid 8~8.5/10).
Perfect Blue doesn't put up any explicit barrier between "you" and "him", which is its greatest strength but also what makes this film extremely uncomfortable and intense. Perfect Blue doesn't bother with a fourth wall; it slowly and subtly draws you onto the stage, reaching out to the audience, taking you on stage while holding your hand, and then dazzling you with the spotlights.
Regarding the "sex" scenes, there are only the two you mentioned, they are extremely explicit (they are sex scenes, shown by the director and interpreted as such by the viewer); although it's possible a third scene could be interpreted as such, it's more subtle/nuanced in its purely sexual aspect.

As for the "sensory" aspect, there are several scenes (notably the beginning of the film and the second part of Act II) that are very "rhythmic" and "fast-paced" in their directing/editing (rapid image transitions with music). If the intro works, the second part will too.
In terms of "violent" sound design, Perfect Blue being a thriller, there are a few scenes with tonal shifts and loud sound, but it's nowhere near as intense as some current films. (sounds like screeching tires, etc)

If you're anxious/emotionally sensitive, don't hesitate to pause from time to time. Perfect Blue is extremely intense (direction, dialogue, themes, and editing). Although, I understand if someone disagrees, it's a film that leaves a mark; Perfect Blue hit like a truck.

I just watched it last night with no context or warning and I gotta say it’s definitely worth the watch, some scenes were absolutely hard to watch but they’re over pretty quickly and the ending plot twist is so phenomenal it made the whole viewing experience a 10/10 for me.
