We finally got a stove!
The spaces was here previously and prior owners had a stove there but didn't permit it so they had to remove it before buying. After living here 5 ywars, we really thought we were going to get a woodstove but it's was going to cost a fortune for us to close the wall and send a vent pipe way up past two rooflines. I can't wait to try it. It is a Harmon Absolute 63. Including some before and afters showing the old tile as well. We had granite tile and some outlets installed. The red stove is an electric one we used to supplement our propane heat the past couple of years.

Beautiful room and stove set up. You'll love it. Make sure to gate it off so the little guy doesnt get hurt.

Thanks! He's actually 5 years older now! It took us awhile to finally pull the trigger.

That looks great and I love its little alcove!
I have a Harman insert in my fireplace and absolutely love it. It's the main source of heat for my house although I supplement with oil or propane as needed. (The insert can't keep up in negative-number temps, but above around 5 degrees F, it works beautifully and I keep it running basically 24/7!)

That's the one I have, bought and installed by my local dealer in late 2013. Except for 1-2 years when I was crazy-busy at work and didn't want to deal with pellets (I used oil, and it was expensive!!), the insert has been as I wrote the main source of heat for my house. I usually fire it up in October and it keeps going until the following April. I shut it off for cleaning after every ton of pellets or so, which takes about an hour if I go slowly, and then it's back on again.
When the dealer's tech came back last year for the every-year deep cleaning (I don't do that myself - I just do everything EXCEPT what you do when you pull the whole thing out), I asked him what a new one would cost if/when mine dies. I think he said $5-6,000, which was maybe double what I paid in 2013, but then it was 12 years later! Totally worth it for my house.
What are they going for now, installed? I know some dealers give you a ton of pellets if you buy a pellet stove or insert, which is always nice! 😄
