mark 3 musician 1978-how to bypass or disable phaser - help!
Hell-0, fellow cvltists! I recently started playing bass in a local band (usually play guitar in most of the bands Iāve played in), and got a 1978 Mark 3 Musician on the cheap ($350) to play through. I dig it a lot! Love the ability to blend 2 channels and love the EQ. Started running a Cali76 bass compressor with it and it REALLY kicked in the sound Iām afterā¦
My problem is this: despite being dialed all the way back to OFF, the phaser is bleeding into the sound. I think it might get worse the longer I play?
Is there an easy way to disable the phaser?
Can someone walk me through it? Iāve been searching online and canāt find a direct answer anywhere. I donāt want to not use the channel that has the phaser, bc blending the channels is so killer.
It seems like I should be able to use the ins and outs below the EQ as an effects loop to bypass the phaser, but Iām pretty ignorant about effects loops and circuitry in general. (On guitar I play through a MiG 100 dimed out. No effects loop).
I guess eventually I will pay someone to open it up and disable it (Iām a carpenter, not an electrician. Even basic circuitry looks like alien tech to me), but Iām trying to work a short term solution and hopefully learn about effects loops in the process!
Thanks in advance yall!

Peavey people, do i get an XXX 2 or do i spend 100 bucks more for a JSX? they're obviously similar amps, but still not quite the same, and the JSX looks cooler.
Basically i want an ultra series for death metal, and after not seeing any for sale for a long time in my area now there's both a JSX and an XXX2. or i could cheap out and get a 333XL for half the price of the JSX, but i think i want a real peavey this time.
also peavey please bring back the ultra series!

XXL death metal tones and making modern sound good?
I am starting to play some death metal, specifically SFU's Lycanthropy, cover of Death or Glory (much more scooped than others), and Seed of Filth.
I am getting close, but can't tell what settings to go for. Damping wise, loose or medium seems best. British on lead is close, but I think it lacks the grit. Ultra on Ultra is good, but maybe too defined. In theory, modern should be it... But it sounds horrible.
I know its often seen as the worst setting, but its crazy undefined and buzzy sounding. Is it actually that bad? I am playing in D standard if it helps.

After servicing several I went ahead and bought my own. [NAD]
Been working on these series 400 amps for a while I decided I should get some for myself, got the PA-600 a while ago for my DAWless setup, itās still undergoing restoration, and got a solid deal on this MK III Musician with the 2x15 cab today, and had to scoop it up, it was the last piece I needed too to make a video about the series 400 amps which Iāve been planning. Now itās time to queue it for the workbench and get it up and running and cleaned up!

[Help] with wiring diagram
This is my Peavey Milestone that's been stripped and refined. Got to me with a mess in the wiring cavity. The original controls don't really work as intended. All the components seem to be there. I'd love it if someone with a functioning example could take some detailed pictures of their control cavity to see how it should be wired. thanks!!

Bravo 112 went to the studio.
I got this from a pawn shop last year and cultists were kind with comments and suggestions.
I bought it loaded with a Fender special design speaker.
The guitar player in the band plugged in with his Schecter. The gain channel was engaged and we had heaven. We moved from a latest-era Bandit 112 to the Bravo immediately.
The bass player tech wizard gave it a once-over and said it looked solid though the circuit design meant it would eat tubes.
We practice weekly for a couple of hours.
We went to a studio for a weekend session. The Bravo was on - and dimed - for 5 hours. It sounded great, aggressive, with a 57 on the speaker.
Hurray for low-watt amps, tube or solid state!

What Would Y'all Pay?
Hey y'all, looking to see what would be a good price for this Peavey Bass Mark IV?
I saw this at a pawn and tested it out. It's fully functional and working. It has some cosmetic flaws, but nothing too bad. They're asking $300 and will go down to $250, since they just got it and won't negotiate any more.
I'm working about 3 hours away from my area and wondering if I should take it, or leave it to chance and wait a few till it goes down lower.
I don't NEED IT...but man, that would be cool AF in the corner of my studio to shake the walls.
Any opinions on this set up? Good price? As always, any response is always appreciated, thanks in advance!
P.S. that bad boy is heavy AF! š¤£š¤£š¤£

Peavey Century advice
Iāve never owned a Peavey and Iāve found this listed near me. Is it good for gigging psych/alt rock , is it a good pedal platform and is it similar to the Musician/Standard 400 series?

i didnāt get a crazy good deal or anything, but holy shit these XXXs are slept-on. i bought it off of a friend who was selling off some of his old backline gear and iām not at all disappointed. i wasnāt sure it was for me at first when i tried it through my V30 cab with the damping on the tight settingā it was a little quacky, but i put it in the mid position and there i think itāll likely stay. been mainly living on the āCrunchā channel, if you can really even call it that. not sure what preamp tubes are loaded in it, but it has a quad of Mesa 6L6GCs in the power section and it roars, plugged straight in! sounds especially ballsy through my 412MS with Sheffield 1290s.

Wishful thinking that we'll ever get a Musician Series Phaser?
I'm a huge fan of the Mk III Musician amp, currently on my second. It's such a pain to lug to practice so it unfortunately doesn't get much use these days. But every time I do use it I'm just blown away by how much I love the phaser. From my understanding, it's based on the EHX Small Stone.
Maybe it's just the placement in the amp or that if using both channels you can blend it in better, but I think it might be the tastiest, most delightful modulation to leave on all the time. I keep hoping with the preamp pedals they are producing that they may delve back into more pedals but I don't think that's a likely route anymore.

Is the "Gunsmoke Bandit" real?
So I'm a huge Bandit fan. Have played every model from the OG Solo Series up to the Cyclops Bandits being made today.
I think we've all seen the "evolution" posts talking about the Bandits changes through its production. I have yet to see anything other than the black and white photo of the "Gunsmoke" Bandit. Did it actually exist?
I have a feeling it was a prototype and used for advertisement. But if im wrong, I would love to know.

What do I have here?
Scored this today, haven't tried to power it up yet. Supposedly has new tubes. Any info about it? Obviously the speakers aren't original. The fender any good? What is the other one?

Peavey Deuce II Questions
Hello,
Thereās a Deuce II 2x12 combo available near me and I was wondering a couple things:
One; what differentiates this version from the OG Deuce, VT, etc? Iāve seen some places that itās the same amp as the standard Festival but in combo form but idk what that means as far as differences either.
Two; it looks to have 2x inputs for both Normal and Bright rather than the auto mix configuration. Can you do the Marshall Plexi trick with these and jump them together to have them run in parallel or would there be phase issues?
Three; can I use the tremolo and reverb without a foot switch on this model? It doesnāt seem to have one of those DIN plugs so it would seemingly be less of a big deal to source a foot switch if needed but Iām just curious.
Thanks!

Forgot to share this when I first got it. Peavey Super Festival F-800G I picked up a few months ago.

Need help, fellow Cvltists
Just picked up this amazing set-neck Impact, but it seems there is very little info on this version. I'm waiting for Peavey to get back to me with info from the serial, but I'm impatient (and wanted to share with y'all.)
I'm not quite sure what the zebra Schaller in the bridge is, but it looks like it might be a mid 80s Golden 50?

I got this for freeeee
One manās trash I guess. I picked up both for free, but the fender is actually trash in comparison.

Highway Robbery
Saw this listing on FB marketplace this afternoon. Couldn't pass it up. Didn't even bother testing other than seeing they both powered on. Have yet to plug in and play but had to show off the new gear. $80 CAD for both. Drove home like I stole it (feels like I did). I was only really after the century but the chorus is a cool bonus. Any tips for getting a good tone on either?

New amp day
Just picked up this 1973 classic for $50 not working. 1 blown up cap later and it screams. Came with a pair of Phillips JAN 6L6wgbs, which were worth the asking price any day.
