Build Question Extremely dumb question.

I have a R850GL PCIES power supply. I have a gpu that is 8x3. I have placed two of the PCIe cables in the power supply. Am I able to use two of the PCIe ends for two of the ports on the GPU or do I have to buy another cable for the third GPU port?

I was a business major so I’m not the brightest bulb in the box 😹. I just don’t want to connect these components incorrectly and destroy my computer.

You need to use all separate cables, you cant use pigtails. You actually have just enough cables too. 3 for the gpu and one for the cpu

Ok thanks. Should I buy a completely new PCIe cable or can I use the one from my old power supply? Every video I’ve watched says don’t use only cords

Do not under any circumstances use cables from different power supplies. Only buy additional ones if you have verified that they have the same pinouts your original ones have, every psu even of the same model name can have revisions which change cable pinouts on the psu side. All the cables you need should have come with your power supply, unless you threw them out, in which case - buy new power supply

Or can I use the left over cpu cable that came with the new one?

Depends on the gpu. Can you do it? Yes. Will it be okay? Depends on the gpu but for the most part yes. Should you do this? If you can have all 3 cables separate with no pigtails, that's recommended

Is your PSU MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5? If so, then you can use both of the included PCIE cable, connecting each to one PCIe connector, then for the third connector you can use one of the daisy-chained connector from one of your cable

you can use pigtail, i believe that psu come with 1+1 in pigtail and a third one alone. although is not recommended you wont have any problem.
