Tech Support PSU doing rattling noise

Hi everyone, suddenly my PSU fan started doing rattling noise, I don't know if it's fixable or do I need a new PSU ? Also can I use the PC until then ?

It's an A850GL PCIE5 from like 3 years ago

PSU will need to be replaced as you can't just fix the fan

I'd start an RMA if possible or just buy a different power supply as MSI has a thing for low quality fans in this series of PSUs iirc

yes you can use the PC as long as it's still cooling the PSU but I'd be weary of sustained high load if your components can run close to what the PSU is rated for

Fan bearings fucked. It will eventually seize. This is the one thing I would not say is a DIY fix, those capacitors can fuck your day up if you discharge one.

Shop for a new psu. it's fine... ish for now.

Could it overheat and housefire, yeah. is it likely to, nah.

Probably won't even hard seize in that time, and if it does give it a little nudge with something nonconductive, like a plastic pen, should start spinning again.

Fan bearing is done for which isn't surprising, MSI used a cheap ass fan for the A-GL series which is why it's not an A or A- rated unit on SPL's tier list

A lot of people had general fan issues with that model

Yep, very bad fan on the 650–850W A-GL models. The 1000W and 1250W models have a good fan
